As Fierce As A Dragon

Most people believe Hanzo's dragons act like puppies. They follow him everywhere, constantly beg him for attention, and protect him like a guard dog would.

What surprised McCree about these little blue spirits was the fact that they do not act like like dogs. Instead, they act more like jealous cats. Very jealous cats.

When the two men started dating, the dragons hated Jesse. They'd constantly hiss at the cowboy when he walked by and would even cuff his ankles from time to time. McCree, being the big teddy bear he is, just assumed they needed time to get used to him. He'd soon learn that that wasn't the case.

Over time, the dragons started getting more clingy with Hanzo. Jesse could hardly even cuddle with him because the dragons would butt in or beat him to it. They'd growl whenever the gunslinger even got close to their owner. Everytime it happened, the two would exchange sorrowful glances and sigh in disappointment.

"I jus' don't get it," the brunet said one day as they were out on a date. "I can't even sit next to ya without them tryin' to attack me."

Hanzo sighed at this and laced their fingers together. "Perhaps they are acting on behalf of my conscience. You of all people know I have trust issues, and the spirits might be using that as their reasoning for disliking you."

McCree ran his mechanical hand through his hair. "Well, ya trust me now, right? So they should too, then."

"It is not that simple," the archer spoke quietly. "The dragons' 'personalities' or 'moods' reflect feelings that I've pushed to the back of my mind. At the moment, I am trying to leave me trust issues behind and move forward. Especially since I'm with you now."

The cowboy nodded, taking this all in. "Is that why they followed me 'round the week I found out ya liked me?"

He watched his boyfriend's face turn a light shade of pink. "... Yes. But let's not talk about that."

With this new information, their relationship ran a lot smoother. Jesse could always tell when something was bothering Hanzo by the way the dragons acted, and therefore knew when he needed to comfort the other. To the dragons' dismay, this only made the couple closer than ever.

Eventually, the ravenet's trust issues started going away. McCree found this out when one day, one of the blue dragons sat in front of him.

The gunslinger was reading a book when he saw something blue glowing in front of him. He lowered the book some and saw the dragon looking up at him curiously. He chuckled at this and set the book down. "What's up, lil' fella?"

The dragon cautiously walked up to him, sniffing his foot. The southerner was about to speak when the spirit put its paws on his knee. A moment later, it jumped into his lap and curled up into a ball. The cowboy held his breath, not wanting to disturb it. Carefully, he called out, "Hanzo?"

"Yes?" The other replied, walking into the living room. A small smile appeared in his face when he saw the scene. "See? You were right, they just needed time to get used to you."

"I guess they did," Jesse sighed happily, looking down at the blue ball in his lap. "I guess they did..."

He heard Hanzo starting to walk off, and spoke up. "Darlin'?"

"Hm?"

"Be honest, were you jus' thinkin' about me?"

Glancing up, he caught the faint blush on the archer's face. "... No... Maybe... Yes."

McCree laughed softly at this and looked back down at the dragon. "Love you too, babe..."
