She wrapped her hand around the microphone that was given to her. She swallowed her nerves and forced her fingers to steady. She took one more deep breath and raised her glass of champagne. "A toast to the groom!" The rest of the wedding repeated after her, but all she could focus on was not spilling the ivory liquid from the thin glass that was perched in her left hand. "To the bride!" A chorus of echoed responses filled the room once more. "From your studio sister..." That earned a chuckle from everyone across the hall. "May you always..." She finally made eye contact with the groom across the hall, and in that moment, her mind started to rewind.
She remembered the night she first met him clearly. As if it was yesterday, rather than almost nine years ago.
He was new. Actually not too new, but new to her. Definitely new to her. He had come back from a trip to visit his family all the way in The Ukraine.
And right from the first "hi", it was off.
He took her out on dates.
Opened doors for her.
Gave her kisses at random times.
Texted her good morning and goodnight.
Danced with her in the kitchen at two in the morning.
Then he started waking up beside her.
Calling her home his home.
He lived for her messy hair and cute voice when she woke up.
And her love for coffee.
But then she came around.

A she he was now getting married to.
She cleared her throat again, getting back into the right state of mind. "May you always be satisfied." She raised her glass once more and sat down.
"Let's hear it for the maid of honor, one more time, Sharna May!" Maks called into the microphone.
She took one more glance over at the bride and groom; over at Val and Jenna. "Congratulations. Love you." She mouthed to Val, who gave her a wink back.
