"You've got to stop this." Val said, stepping out onto the fire escape. Sharna set her glass of white wine down and turned to him.

"Stop what?" She wrapped her arms around her folded knees. The New York skyline behind them sparkled.

"This." Val sat on the window sill.

"What's "this"?" Sharna asked.

"You inviting me over for dinners, and kissing my cheek when we're not in public, just stop. We can't be doing that." Val explained.

"What?" Sharna asked, clearly hurt. She nervously tied her hair in a sloppy bun, just to get it out of her face.

"We are just a fake couple. I am with you for the money, and nothing else, understand me? This relationship is getting us both more money, and that's what this is based on. We are a brand, and you know that. We are not "go out to dinner", we are not kisses, we are none of that. We are false, we aren't real. I don't love you, Sharna." Val sneered. "So stop inviting me over to dinner, stop all of this. I'm with you for the money."

Sharna swallowed hard. "Alright." Sharna nodded. With that sour note, Val left the apartment. Sharna squeezed her eyes shut as she heard the door slam. She opened her now tear filled eyes, she shouted in pure angst and knocked her wine glass, not caring that the glass cracked. She walked inside and straight to her room. She dug out the letter she ment to give to him. Sharna glanced at the first sentence before tearing it in half.

Val, I love you.
