I was chilling on my couch, watching Netflix, when I got a text.
Colby: hey Scarlett, happy birthday!
I smiled and replied.
Scarlett: thanks Colby 😊😊😊
Colby: welllllll I was wondering if I could take the birthday girl out to a celebratory lunch?
Scarlett: welllllll I think that would be fantastic
Colby: is 12 good?
Scarlett: yup :)
Colby: great, see ya later scar
Scarlett: cya colbs
I smiled, then received a call from my friend.
"Hey birthday girl!" She shouted.
"Hey Julie."
"Got any big plans tonight?" She asked.
"Not really, Colby's taking me out to lunch, but that's about it."
There was a pause before she spoke.
"You've got to be kidding me."
I was confused.
"What do you mean?"
"That just proves my theory even more!" She replied.
I rolled my eyes at her, even though she couldn't see me.
She had a theory that Colby liked me, but we're just friends.
"Julie, how many times do I have to tell you that we're just friends?"
"Scarlett, you can tell me millions of times, but I still won't believe it."
"Believe me, I know."
We both laughed.
"Well, I'll be over in 5." She spoke.
"Woah woah woah woah wait a minute. Did you just invite yourself over to my house?"
"Uh-huh."
I laughed.
"Okay, but I'm not letting you through my front door unless you have food with you."
"You know it."
I laughed and hung up the phone.
I set it back on the night stand and sat on my bed.
Could Colby actually like me?
Nah, that's insane.
We've made it clear that we're just friends.

Dear god I hope we have, because I don't like him, and that would make it very awkward.
I shook my head of those thoughts and glanced back down at my phone, and noticed the time.
10:59 a.m
Better hurry my booty up.
I went into my closet, picking out what I would wear.
I pulled out a blue crop top and some black high waisted shorts.
I set the clothes on my bed and walked into the bathroom.
I then proceeded to get into the shower.
After I was done with my luxurious shower, I dried off and put on my clothes.
I went over to my mirror and applied some light makeup.
As I was fixing my hair, I heard some noise from downstairs.
I set my hair brush in my dresser and walked downstairs, only to be met with Julie holding a giant cake.
We locked eyes and she smiled.
"I got this for you." She smiled and handing me the cake.
I looked at it and read what it said in red icing.
Happy birthday to the best bitch ever :)
I smiled and set the cake down on the table.
I ran over to Julie and attacked her with hugs.
"Thank you Jules!"
She laughed.
"It was the least I could do, you are my best friend and all."
I looked at the clock that was hanging on the wall next to the couch.
11:56 a.m
"Almost 12." I stated.
Julie turned and read the clock.
"What are you gonna do when I leave?" I asked.
"What I normally do when you're not here. Eat, watch tv, sleep, nothing out of the ordinary."
I nodded my head and grabbed my shoes that were laying near the couch, and put them on.
We waited for about 30 more seconds before we heard a knock on my door.
I stood up and took a deep breath.
Wait a minute, am I nervous?
Nahhhhh.
I walked to the front door and twisted the handle. I pushed the door open and was not expecting what I saw.
"Sam?"
He smiled and nodded. He was holding his hands behind his back.
"What're you doing here?" I asked.
"Well, I wanted to surprise my friend for her birthday. These are for you, Scarlett." He pulled a bouquet of roses out from behind his back.
I was shocked, and clearly Julie was too, because when I turned around her mouth was wide open.
"S-Sammy, why don't you come on in, stay awhile." Julie said as she stumbled off of the couch and made her way towards us.
"Sure." Sam smiled.
He followed us inside and we all sat down on the couches.
It was silent for a bit.
"So, Sam, I uh. I actually have plans right now."
He looked at me, and he looked somewhat sad.
"Oh, okay. Well what about later tonight?" He asked.
"I'm not sure yet, maybe." I replied.
"I'm free tonight." I heard Julie say.
I have her a "this is not the time" look.
Sam didn't reply to Julie and we all just sat there.
Until there was a knock on the door.
I eagerly stood up and rushed to the door. I opened it and was met with a smiley Colby.
"Hey." I smiled.
"Hey Scar." He smiled back.
"Well, we should get going." I looked back and saw Sam sitting on the couch, he looked hurt.
We started into each other's eyes, and I couldn't just leave like that and break his heart.
I looked back at Colby, who was looking past me, into my house.
I could sense Colby getting protective and angry, he probably saw Sam.
"Why's he here?" Colby whispered to me.
"He showed up a couple minutes ago." I whispered back.
Colby pushed past me and walked over to the couches, right next to where Sam was sitting.
"Hey Sam." He sounded friendly, but I could tell it wasn't genuine.
"Hello Colby." Sam replied with obviously fake enthusiasm.
There was silence.
"Well, Scarlett and I were just about to leave." Colby fake smiled, I could tell he was 2 seconds away from losing his shit.
Sam stood up.
"Actually, Scarlett and I were just about to leave, right Scarlett?" Sam turned to face me.
I didn't say anything.
"Is that true Scarlett?" Colby asked me.
I shook my head no.
"You see, Sam, Scarlett doesn't want to hang out with you, so you can go now." Colby said.
I saw Julie slowly make her way towards me, we both were scared of what could happen.
"Actually, I'm not going to leave, but you can leave, seeings how we both agreed that I could take Scarlett out to lunch." Sam retaliated.
Wait, they already discussed who could take me out to lunch?
"I only said that to make you happy. It's obvious that she would end up with me and not you."
"Well you can't take back what you said, even if you meant it or not."
"You know what, I don't have time for this. Scarlett, we're leaving." Colby walked over to me and tried to pull me along with him.
But I was to scared to move.
So was Julie.
We were paralyzed by fear.
"Scarlett, we're leaving." He said, a bit angrier.
"No." I stated, barley audible.
Colby looked at me, his eyes saddened.
"No?" He asked, letting go of my arm, he had a calm, almost sad tone in his voice.
I nodded my head.
He turned back around to face Sam.
"Fuck you." He stated, then walked out of the door.
I looked back at Sam, he looked angry and miserable at the same time.
He didn't say anything.
I watched him walk out of the door.
And that's the last time I saw either of them.
