I drove the the closest McDonalds, tears falling off of my cheeks and landing on my knees.
My tears soaked the fabric of my black dress.
I parked my car and turned off the engine. I just sat in the car, crying the last of my tears.
I was just at my mother's funeral.
I sobbed to myself in the car.
After I cried all of my tears, I wiped off my cheeks and climbed out of the car.
I slammed the car door and walked to the entrance of the "restaurant".
I let the door slam behind me, I honestly didn't care at this point.
I got in the line and ordered "the usual".
I got my food and sat down at a booth.
I took my phone out of my pocket and started messing around on it as I ate.
I was way too depressed for my brain to be working properly.
I was enjoying my meal, until I received a text message.
I clicked on it.
Dad:
Her death is your fault, and you know it.
I dropped my phone, letting it fall onto the table.
I laid my head on the table, encasing my head with my arms.
I just laid there, unable to think.
Unable to move.
Unable to feel emotion.
Any emotion other than anger.
I felt a tap on my shoulder. I looked up and saw Colby.
He was my acquaintance/friend. We were close, but not that close.
He smiled that adorable smile of his.
"Hey Kylie." He said in a cheery attitude.
"Hello." I replied bluntly, I didn't want to be bothered right now.
"I have a question to I ask you." He seemed nervous.
"Okay." I replied, just then, my phone buzzed.
I looked down and saw the text.
Brother:
Dad's right. It is your fault, and everyone knows.
I can't describe how I felt, I wanted to punch a hole in the wall, while simultaneously being embraced in a giant hug.
I looked back up at Colby as he sat in the seat across from me.
I really don't want to be bothered right now, can he just go away?
"Well, I wanted to know if you're free tonight?" He asked, hope in his eyes.
"I-I" I couldn't form any sentences.
His smile quickly faded.
His eyes saddened as he said,"Oh, it's alright Kylie. See you around."
He stood up from the booth and walked away.
I desperately wanted to jump up and chase after him, but my body wouldn't let me.
Apparently, I had more tears, because I felt them roll down my cheeks.
Kylie, stop being stupid and go after him!
I took a deep breath and stood up. I grabbed my phone from off of the table and ran out of the entrance.
I completely forgot about my trash on the table... oops?
I bursted through the doors and looked around for Colby.
I saw him walking about 30 feet away from me.
I sprinted to him.
"Colby!"
He turned around and saw me. He stopped walking so I could catch up to him.
"Why are you crying? What's wrong?" He asked, concern evident in his voice.
"I-I" I still couldn't speak correctly.
I started crying hysterically.
Colby pulled me close to him, wrapping his arms around my body.
He gently rubbed my back and tried to calm me down.
After a few minutes, I felt that I could speak normally again.
"I wasn't going to say no, Colby." I looked up into his big blue eyes.
A small smiled crept onto his face.
"That's nice to know." He chuckled.
I nodded in agreement.
"So you're free tonight?" He asked.
"Yup." I smiled.
I was smiling...
how the hell am I smiling right now?
"Good, I'll text you at 6?" He asked.
"Perfect." I replied, we parted ways and walked back to our own cars.
I climbed into my car and closed the door.
I started the ignition and sighed.
I will not let my guilt or sadness ruin this night.
I took a deep breath.
My mom wouldn't have wanted me to be sad or guilty, so I'm not going to be.
I'm going to enjoy this night.
Now, just gotta figure out what to wear.
