"No." Marcus tells Draco Malfoy.
"Yes." Draco answers like the petulant child he is.
"You--" Marcus begins, but he cuts off when you approach and slip your arm around his waist. "Hey." He tells you.
"Hey." You kiss him.
"Need something?"
"Not really. I was just wondering why you won't let Draco on the team." You smile sweetly.
Draco may be a petulant child, but he's still what some might call your pet.
"Well--" Marcus begins.
"If you let him on, we can get up to your room faster." You whisper in his ear.
"Fine, kid. You're on the team." Marcus tells him, and pulls you away.
Draco says something to the Granger girl, and it apparently makes the Weasley twins angry, because they go to attack him. You're about to go over, but Marcus steps in front of him. The next time you look over, Ron Weasley's puking up slugs on the ground.
"Did you see how that happened?" You ask your friend.
"How what happened?" She looks up. "Ew, gross. That's disgusting."
"I'll take that as a no." You comment.
You're studying when the quidditch team comes in from practice. Marcus collapses beside you, his arm dropped around your shoulders. He starts to say something, but Draco comes to sit beside you and starts telling you all about how the Weasley boy came to be vomiting slugs.
"Oi, Malfoy. Let me talk to my girlfriend." Marcus said.
"I'm speaking." Draco says, looking offended.
"He's fine." You smile at Marcus, putting your hand on his leg as you turn back to Draco. "He pulled out his wand...?" You prompt.
He starts talking animatedly again.
Marcus kisses your cheek, but you ignore him and keep listening to the Second Year.
"Babe." Marcus complains.
Your response is a gentle swat on his arm.
He kisses your neck, and when you don't answer, he keeps going.
"May I help you?" You finally ask him.
"Yes."
"With?"
"I'm tired."
"Okay. Go to bed." You say. "Simple solution."
"I was hoping you'd come with me."
"Ew!" Draco says.
"I thought you were tired." You smile.
"Yeah, well. Not that tired."
"Draco, are you tired?" You ask him.
He nods.
"Let Draco finish his story, then we'll talk." You offer as a compromise.
He mumbles an agreement somewhere among his complaints.
"Study while you wait." You push your book to him.
"No thanks."
"You'll change your mind when you fail."
He shrugs, and Draco keeps talking.
"Goodnight." Draco says when he finishes his story.
"Goodnight, sweetie." You smile, nudging Marcus.
"'Night." Marcus says, less thrilled.
Once Draco gets up into the dormitories you turn to Marcus.
"Where were we?" He asks. "Oh, right! Nowhere, because you refused to acknowledge I was present."
"Don't be bitter." You smile.
"Kiss for luck?" He smirks at you as he's leaving to get ready for the Quidditch game.
You kiss him. "Good luck."
After the game, you wait up in the common room, knowing Marcus would be angry.
He was, of course. And he was still yelling at Draco when they came in.
"It was right beside you, you insolent little brat!" He yells.
Draco's about to retaliate, but you jump in.
"Marcus, love, it's okay." You say. "It's just a game."
"To you." He snaps.
"You did well, Draco." You smile and pat his shoulder, to Marcus' no small annoyance.
"Thank you, Y/N. Flint's being mean." Draco gives you saddened puppy dog eyes.
"Do not yell at him." You snap at your boyfriend.
"Sorry." He says.
"Go to bed, Draco." You say.
"But--"
"No."
He scowls and walks away.
Marcus slips his arms around your waist and kisses you. "Can't believe I let you convince me to let that little shit on the team."
"What can I say? You love me." You smile sweetly.
"I do." He agrees.
