Maggie is coming back today and I've watched him contain his excitement over this, even though it eventually bursts out. When he thinks no one is looking at him.
I've had Taio get chef to whip up a special menu for her return but I made sure he was involved with the planning.
Because he's been abiding by the rules given to him at the hospital, he'll be able to leave his room today. I'm sure he did all that so he could show Maggie he was fine after all.
I stand in the open doorway and watch as he giggles to every little did joke chef tells him. I want so badly to go in there and join the conversation without him shying away from me.
More than anything, I want to be the one evoking those giggles out of him.
But we can't always get what we want. Can we?
The sound of a engine shutting off and the front door pulling open and slamming shut immediately is my only answer.
