LINA'S POV

I sat up in our bed quickly feeling myself sweating. I looked over to see Miles still sleeping. I was breathing heavily as I just had another nightmare. I crawled out of bed and put on my robe. I gently opened the bedroom door and closed it behind me. Erin had been kind enough to let us stay in her guest room over the holidays. I walked out to the kitchen, I looked over at the clock 4am. As usual. It's so printed in my brain to wake up at 4am. It's what we did in Baghdad. And now, instead of waking up by admirals bursting into our sleeping corners, I woke up by nightmares at 4am sharp.

I started brewing some coffee. I looked out to the backyard, the sun was still not rising. I walked back into the kitchen and grabbed a mug and filled it with the coffee and sat down at the table with my computer. I had reports from my deployment to write anyways and the house would be awake in a few hours so why not get this shit over with while it was still quiet.

"Lina, what are you doing up?" I heard Miles groggily ask as he came out of our room rubbing his eyes in just his pyjama pants.

"Couldn't sleep and I have some reports to finish anyways." I said and he sat down by the table with a groan.

"It's 4am." He said.

"Yeah." I said.

"Come back to bed, sleep for a few more hours." He said and put his head on the table.

"I can't sleep anyways." I said and he looked up at me with kind but worried eyes.

"How many nights in a row?" He asked and I furrowed my brows.

"What?" I asked.

"How many nights in a row have you woken up at this time?" He asked and leaned his head on his hand.

"I don't know." I said.

"You do know, and that you say that you don't know means it's more nights then you want to say. And you were about to lie and say maybe two or three so I wouldn't worry, but that isn't true, what is it a week? Two weeks?" He asked and I sighed.

"Over a week." I said and he nodded.

"Nightmares or military routine?" He asked. How did he know this stuff?

"Nightmares." I mumbled.

"From the war?" He asked softly and I nodded.

"What is it about?" He asked.

"When Blaze's plane exploded and my engine exploded and I ended up in that pile of bodies." I said.

"So you are reliving that day." He said and I nodded.

"You know the military has a department who can help you with this, PTSD." He said.

"I don't have PTSD, it's going to pass." I said and he let out a sigh.

"Sounds like it." He said.

"It's just fresh wounds. It has happened before and it passed." I said and he put his hand on my forearm and stroke it lightly.

"I know I don't have to worry about but I do. It's my job as the boyfriend." He said and I smiled softly at him.

"I'm okay, I promise." I reassured.

"Can we at least watch a movie on the couch because this chair is really uncomfortable right now?" He asked and I let out a chuckle.

"Okay." I said and closed my laptop and we walked over to the couch. I sat down and he laid his head down in my lap as I put on a movie. I started fiddling with his hair and he snuggled into my lap. I could feel his breathing slowing down as he fell asleep. Me, I was wide awake. My senses were heightened and I was very well aware of my surroundings. Almost too aware. I looked around and squinted my eyes when I thought I saw something suspicious. I shook my head, trying to shake it off. It was nothing there. We were inside a locked house. No one was here except for us. I jumped as I heard a gun shot and I looked around but there was still no one there, I looked over at the TV to see a fight scene being played. I looked down at Miles, he was still sleeping. Thank god.

He woke up two hours later, me, still wide awake. He groaned lightly and turned his head and looked up at me and smiled softly.

"Hey." He said groggily.

"Hi." I said.

"I must've fallen asleep." He said and I let out a chuckle.

"Yeah." I mumbled and fiddled with his hair once again. He smiled kindly and sat up straight. He looked at me with a kind and warm look.

"I have a question for you." He said and I looked at him intriguingly.

"Okay." I said and he placed his arm around my shoulders.

"I've been thinking a lot during your deployment." He said and I felt my heart racing. What was he going to ask

"And if I could have it my way, I would spend every day with you, not leave your side ever. But well, life isn't that fair." He said and I smiled softly.

"So, I came up with an alternate idea." He said.

"Would you want to move in with me, Lina?" He asked and I couldn't believe it. My heart was racing and my pulse rising.

"Live together?" I asked and he nodded.

"Yeah." He said with a warm smile.

"What do you think?" He asked and my shock turned into a smile.

"You in?" He asked and I chuckled, still shocked.

"I'm in." I said and he smiled widely. He almost jumped over me and we crash landed on the sofa with him on top of me making me laugh.

"I fucking love you, Lina Cruise." He said and I smiled.

"I kind of fucking love you too, Miles Teller." I said and he smiled widely as he gently pressed his lips against mine.

"Good morning lovebirds." Erin said as she walked out to the kitchen and we quickly sat up.

"Morning." Miles said and he looked over at me with a wide smile.

"Why are you guys up this early?" She asked as she poured up some coffee.

"No reason." Miles said and I smiled.

"God, I love coffee." She said with a groan making us chuckle.

"Well, if you don't want to be apart of this whole morning bazooka chaos, you should probably leave now because the kids will be up soon." She said and we chuckled.

"They are like little monsters in the morning." She said and looked deadly out into nowhere.

"I love 'em to death but sometimes I just wish they would disappear." She said and we chuckled.

"Hey, why don't we take 'em this morning, get them ready and take them to school." I suggested and Miles agreed.

"No, I can't let you do that." She said.

"Erin, you are letting us stay here for free. The least we can do is help out with the kids. Go out, get your nails done or have a luxurious breakfast. Do something for you. We'll handle the kids." I said and she smiled softly.

"Really? You would do that?" She asked and we chuckled.

"Of course we would, we want to." Miles said and I nodded.

"Okay but don't call med crying because Jax doesn't want to put his shoes on." She said and we chuckled.

"We promise." I said.

"Alright, thank you so much." She said and grabbed her jacket, hugged us both before walking out the door.

"Have we gotten ourselves into something we don't understand?" I asked and he chuckled.

"Nah, those kids are amazing." He said and I smiled  softly.

"We are never having kids." Miles said and I nodded as we both blankly stared out of the windshield.

"Nope." I said.

"I never knew they were terrorists." He said and I chuckled.

"Fuck, sorry, bad joke." He said and I chuckled.

"I've seen terrorists face to face, but never seen two so messy and obnoxious ones." I said and he chuckled.

"Our kids won't be terrorists, they will be nice and calm." He said and I felt my heart skip a beat.

"Our kids?" I asked and he looked over at me and smiled softly.

"Yeah." He said and I smiled lightly.

"Our in the distant future kids." He said and I chuckled.

"Let's move in together first Mr. I want terrorist kids." I said and he let out a chuckle.

"Yes, love." He said and leaned over and kissed my cheek. He started the engine and we took off from the kiss's school. I wanted kids one day. I did. But in a couple of years. I wanted to fly, I wanted to go on missions which made it impossible to have kids now. And I was too young. There were a few more steps we needed to take before getting to the having kids part. We just decided to move in. I didn't even know if we would work together when we lived under the same roof. We had a lot of stuff to figure out before the whole settling down part.

"We can get a dog." I said and he looked over at me.

"A dog?" He asked and I nodded.

"Yeah, a dog. A small one." I said and he let out a chuckle.

"Alright, we're getting a dog." He said and I smiled.

"But after we've found a place." He said.

"Deal." I said and he smiled and put his hand on my thigh.

"A small dog?" He asked.

"Not getting into a fight with a big dog. Small ones you can pick up." I said and he chuckled.

"A chihuahua?" He asked and I let out a scoff.

"I said a dog not a rat on a leash." I said and he laughed.

"What kind of dog then?" He asked.

"I don't know, like a French bulldog or something." I said.

"I like that." He said and I smiled lightly.

"Yeah?" I asked and he nodded.

"Yeah, they are cute. I like the idea of having a small dog that likes playing rough." He said and I smiled.

"A frenchie it is then." I said and he squeezed my thigh.

"I like this." He said with a smile.

"What?" I asked.

"Talking about the future with you. I like it." He said and looked over at me with a smile.

"Focus on the road, Teller." I said with a smirk.

"Yes, dear." He said with a smile.

"I like it too." I said and his smile widened as he turned the volume up on the music. 80s tracks as usual. He really has become a little Rooster. Listening to 80s music, the floral shirts, the moustache. I knew he liked who he portrayed in Top Gun. He liked the idea of Rooster. Sensitive but fearless, courageous, happy go lucky. And he loved it, and he used Rooster in his daily life. He was at peace with himself. Everyone could see it.
