Chapter 140 (5x11)
Word Count: 1359
Only a few days had gone by when Cassidy and Kol, being the last two of the mates to get married, were hurrying to become husband and wife, wanting the wedding as soon as possible. It was the morning of their wedding when Cassidy stood in front of her mirror, glancing at a wedding dress she had tried on in distaste.
"It's too itchy, and it makes my boobs look small. I mean, why have cleavage when you can't show it off?"
"She's got a point." Caroline murmured to Bonnie, who giggled and nodded in agreement. Caroline, Bonnie, Rebekah, Freya, Davina, Hayley, Katherine, and Nadia were all helping Cassidy get ready for her big day... again! For the very last time, too.
"Relax, there are plenty more to choose from, gorgeous." Rebekah reassured, planting a kiss on Cassidy's cheek.
"'Lijah has agreed to walk me down the aisle, since I am nothing but an orphan now with no father to walk me down the aisle." Cassidy sighed sadly.
"Ditto to that." Hayley raised her glass, so did everyone else in the room minus Bonnie and Nadia.
"What happened to your step-dad? Couldn't he walk you down?" Bonnie wondered. Cassidy looked down.
"No, he passed away three years ago. Heart attack."
"Oh..." Bonnie looked down, feeling bad now.
"Hey! Come on, Cassie, you're getting married today! You can't be sad on your very last wedding day ever." Caroline tried to cheer her older sister up.
"You're right." Cassidy smiled. "Next dress, please."
Davina squealed excitedly, rushing into the wardrobe to fetch her mate the next wedding dress to try on.
Rebekah's phone suddenly rang. She picked it up to see who was calling.
"It's Kol."
"What? No! If you are answering that call, do it outside. It's bad luck to hear the groom's voice before you meet him at the aisle." Cassidy whined, sliding into the wedding dress as Katherine zipped it up for her.
"I'm pretty sure that it is: it's bad luck to see the bride in the dress before the wedding, babe." Hayley corrected with a chuckle. Cassidy playfully shot her a look with a small grin.
"No, I just asked Kol to put his wedding preparations on hold for an hour just so he can get in contact with his witch allys and find out how to stop the magic in Hope and Alexandria." Rebekah stated. "I think he's found the answer. I'll be right back." She then quickly left the room to answer Kol's call.
---
Elijah was busy talking to Enzo and Stefan while Klaus was charming some of the early-arriving guests who had come to help with preparations, when Rebekah walked up to the two of them and pulled them away from the wedding preps.
"Rebekah." Elijah addressed his younger sister. "Is everything alright? You seem saddened."
"I asked Kol to talk to his witch allys like you guys wanted me to, and he got back to me with what they said." Rebekah revealed. Immediately, Klaus and Elijah were intrigued, eager to know how they would be able to cure their daughters of the dark magic. "The witches say that the dark magic is destroying both of the girls from the inside out. It's only a matter of time before it kills them..."
"So how do we stop it?" Klaus asked immediately, now very concerned for his daughter and niece.
"There's nothing we can do." Rebekah began to tear up. She couldn't bear the idea of anything happening to her son, Eli, so she couldn't imagine the pain that Klaus and Elijah must have felt at hearing her say those words.
"How long?" Elijah wondered quietly, his head bowed in sadness. Rebekah glanced at him, almost in tears at the thought of losing two of her nieces.
"Weeks... days, maybe hours. There's no way to know..."
---
Cassidy drew in an excited breath. Weddings always made her feel so excited, no matter how many she took part in as a bride. They always had the same nervous slash excited effect on her.
Damon was officiating the wedding so he stood at the alter with Kol. Elena and Rose sat with their kids in one row. Stefan and Katherine with their kids, Nadia and Matt with theirs, Caroline with the twins, Enzo with his and Caroline's son, Bonnie with hers and Enzo's kids, Alaric with his and Bonnie's daughter, Jeremy with his and Bonnie's daughter, Tyler and Olivia with their son... and then there was all of Cassidy's mates with all of her beautiful children, even Hope and Alexandria had made it... everyone had made it.
"It's time, doll." Freya came up behind Cassidy, wrapping her arms around the bride and kissing her temple. "Kol is up there and waiting for his beautiful bride-to-be. I hope this wedding isn't anywhere as amazing as ours was though."
"Let's do this." Cassidy grinned excitedly. Freya smiled down at her wife, kissing her cheek, before going to take her seat.
"You ready?" Elijah walked over, holding out his arm.
"Ready as I'll ever be. Again." Cassidy smirked, kissing Elijah's lips softly.
"There should be a rule that kissing another man on your wedding day is very bad luck." Elijah joked teasingly. Cassidy chuckled.
"No such thing."
"Let's go. Kol awaits." Elijah muttered, just as the music started. Cassidy looped her arm through Elijah's, the two making themselves known to the guests and walking gracefully down the aisle.
She eventually made it to the aisle where Kol stood, beaming at the stunning sight of his beautiful bride in all her glory. Elijah went to take his seat beside Alexandria, who only shot him a small glance before trying her best to ignore him.
"Okay folks, my time to shine." Damon smirked sarcastically, receiving laughs from most of the guests. "Dearly beloved... Kol, when I first met you, you know that I hated you, you little bastard. I always thought that Cassidy deserved better, but since my trip to New Orleans, I finally realised how good you and all of the others were for her because I have never seen Cassidy more happy than when she's here, surrounded by her family. Her smile wasn't even as bright in Mystic Falls, ever. I used to think you would bring out the worst in her, but no... you brought out both sides, which has been the perfect balance to unleash the new and improved Cassidy Forbes-Mikaelson. Now, rings?"
Damon held out his hand and Clara stepped forward, a genuine smile on her lips for once at the sight of her parents finally getting married, handing Damon the rings. Damon then handed the rings to Kol and Cassidy.
Words were exchanged, vows were exchanged, and rings were slipped onto fingers.
"Well..." Damon smiled. "By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife. Go get her, tiger!"
Kol laughed, leaning forward to press a passionate kiss to his new wife's lips.

Everyone was dancing, drinking, laughing, and enjoying the wedding reception of Kol and Cassidy's long-awaited big day.
Hope was dancing with Elena, and despite the dark veins that were spreading across her neck that everybody noticed since her hair was tied up, she seemed fine in that moment which was always a good thing.
Alexandria was dancing with Clara, and she seemed to be a slight bit tipsy. Only a little bit. As Clara spun around and then playfully spun Alexandria around, Alexandria suddenly became very lightheaded and stumbled back into her younger sister.
"Woah!" Clara quickly steadied her big sister. "Alex? Are you okay?"
Hearing that, every single person at the wedding turned towards them, rushing over with concern to make sure that Alexandria was alright.
"Is she all right?" Elijah asked, worried.
"I'm fine, dad, I'm fine." Alexandria reassured quietly, still a bit wobbly on her feet.
"Yeah, my medical diagnosis is too much champagne." Elena told them, walking over with Hope.
"See? Perfectly fine." Alexandria rolled her eyes, turning to Elijah. "Have a little trust in your daughter, dad. I'm all good."
