A steel barrel was sent hurling through the air, sparks of blue electricity emits from its frame before slamming into a cement wall.
Miles: "Try channeling your electricity through the surface. That should prevent you from zapping yourself while trying to control them"
Y/n: "Okay...seems simple enough"
Y/n then goes over to another steel barrel.
Miles: "Uh-uh-uh!"
Y/n: "What? I haven't done anything yet"
Miles points to another object of interest. Looking over, Y/n saw that Miles had gestured to a large red cargo container.
Did I mention they were in a warehouse by the docks?
Y/n: "You want, ME, to use it on-"
Miles: "Uh-huh. A steel barrel is too easy for you, we gotta use something more your speed"
Y/n: "I don't even know the fundamentals of using these powers"
Miles: "You'll get the hang of it. Now stop standing around, let's go!"
Y/n: *mutters* "I'm starting to regret coming here"
Begrudgingly, Y/n makes his way over to the cargo container and placed his hands on them, his fingers being the appendage that's mostly coming in contact with the steel surface. Miles zipped to a ledge just a few feet away from the area, watching Y/n's attempt from a distance.
Upon taking a wide stance, Y/n began to concentrate to the best of his abilities as he tries to channel the electricity through his fingers.
Miles: "So how've you been? It's been 2 years since we last spoke"
Y/n: *hums* "Funny...it's been seven years for me"
Miles: "Seriously? You only look 2 years older than me"
Y/n: "Well...I spent 5 of those years being dust in space so that's why I don't look any different"
Miles: "Wait, for real!? You went to space!!? That is so cool-"
Y/n: "Yeah, can we like, NOT talk for a minute? I'm trying to concentrate here"
Miles: "Oh, right...my bad"
Miles then fell silent, allowing Y/n to focus on channeling his powers.
Miles: "So how are things with you and Gwen?"
Suddenly, Y/n's body sparked up, lightning flower through his nervous system before being shot out of his fingertips with immense force, pushing the container dozens of feet away.
Miles: "Woah!"
After the display, Y/n sighs deeply before scratching his head.
Y/n: "Gwen and I broke up. As of now, we aren't really talking"
Miles: "How did it feel?"
Y/n: "It hurt...like my heart was being squeezed while it's still beating"
Miles: "Oumpf...yikes. But...I was talking about what you felt when you used your Venom Blast"
Y/n: "...Yeah, that makes way more sense"
Miles then dropped from his vantage point before walking over to Y/n.
Y/n: "How do I say this...it felt like a current shot through my nervous system to the tips of my fingers"
Miles: "There you go. Now, remember that when performing your Venom Blast"
Y/n: "Is that really what you've been calling this?"
Miles: "Yeah, why? You don't like it?"
Y/n: "No, it's the opposite really. I'm just surprised I didn't think of that first"
Miles: "Well, I did have these powers longer than you did"
Y/n: "Yeah, yeah"
Miles: "Let's try doing that again. This time keep that feeling you have in your head, that should help you channel it"
With those parting advice, Miles zips back to his vantage point while Y/n walks over to the shipping container.
Y/n: (The current flew through my nerves before shooting out of my fingers, I wonder...)
Once Y/n was up close to the steel container, instead of placing his fingers on the surface like before, he opts to place his palm along with his fingers onto the container.
Closing his eyes, Y/n begins to imagine the current flowing in his nervous system. From Miles's perspective, he could see orange sparks beginning to appear through Y/n's suit.
After building enough charge, Y/n expels it through his hands. However, instead of sending the container dozens of feet away as he did previously, this time the container was sent flying through the air and into the ocean.
Miles: "Holy-"
Y/n: "-shit...that was awesome"
Looking down at his hand, Y/n could see the sparks emitting in a more controlled state.
Miles: "I told you you'd get the hang of it"
Y/n: "I guess you're right. You're getting a hang of this whole teaching thing"
Miles: *shrug* "Takes one to know one. Now this just leaves the-"
Suddenly, Miles's alarm went off. He quickly pulls out his phone before grimacing.
Miles: "Shoot! We need to go!"
Y/n: "Why? Go where?"
Miles: "Dinner's about to be ready"
Y/n: "...You're kidding"
Miles: "Come on, we gotta go!"
Miles then zips to the edge of the roof of the warehouse
Y/n: "Wait, why am I coming along?"
Miles: "It's Christmas. My family's having a Christmas dinner, you should come"
Y/n: "I didn't know it was Christmas here"
As Miles jumps to swing away, Y/n begins to run up to swing after Miles, unknowingly building up electricity in his legs. Right as Y/n jumped, the energy in his legs dispersed, sending Y/n higher than he had intended, throwing off his balance as he tumbles onto the roof.
Y/n: *groans* "Oww...the hell happened there?"
Looking down at his feet, he sees sparks appear on his legs right as it dissipates.
Y/n: "Cool~"
Miles: *distant* "Let's go!"
Y/n: "Alright, already!"
Saving it for another day, Y/n got back on his feet before swinging after Miles.
After crawling through Miles's window, Y/n and Miles took off their masks as Miles began to find clothes in his wardrobe.
Y/n: "That reminds me, you never taught me how to turn invisible on command"
Miles: "That's because it's trickier than using Venom Blast"
Miles then took a shirt and a spare pants from his wardrobe and hands them to Y/n.
Miles: "If I would describe it, it's like my subconscious taking a deep breath"
Y/n: "That does not make sense"
???: "Miles?"
At the sound of a voice calling out to Miles and the door to the bedroom creaking open, Y/n suddenly disappears out of thin air as Miles dove to his bed and cover himself in his blanket.
Once the door fully opened, Miles's mother, Rio, walked through and called out to Miles.
Rio: "Miles? Dinner's almost ready, wake up"
Miles: *fake yawn* "Okay, Mama. Be there in a sec"
Rio: "And clean up your room, Mijo. It looks like a storm came through here"
Once Rio left and closed the door, Miles tossed the blanket off his body as Y/n reappears right as he zipped up his pants.
Y/n: "I can't believe it took me this long to figure this out"
Miles: "Oh, yeah? Well I hope you can do it again because you're gonna sneak through the living room"
Y/n: "Alright..."
After fixing up his outfit, taking a pair of pants and wore a grey sweater over a shirt.
Once he fixed his hair, Miles goes to his door and grabbed the handle before looking back at Y/n.
Miles: "You ready?"
Y/n took in a deep breath before his body disappears before Miles's eyes.
Y/n: "Ready"
With a nod, Miles swings the door open before walking through the hallway, with Y/n sticking close behind him.
Jeff: "Hey, sport. How'd you sleep?"
Miles: "Like a baby"
Y/n: (I need a housewarming gift)
Looking around, Y/n looks for any loose object he could work as a gift before settling for a bottle of bleach that he spots in the bathroom.
Y/n: (Fuck it...I've given worse things)
Jeff: "Had a long day?"
Miles: "Something like that..."
Arriving in the living room, Miles was met with a plethora of Christmas decorations, complete with a Christmas tree and Christmas lights along with Christmas music playing on the record player.
Miles: "Hey, is it cool if I bring a friend over for Christmas?"
Rio: "I thought you said Ganke couldn't make it?"
Miles: "I know, this is a different friend"
Jeff: "Just as long as they have permission from their parents"
Miles: "Cool!"
Y/n carefully makes his way to the front door, a bottle of bleach still in hand, before knocking on the wood.
Miles: "That must be them, I'll go get the door"
Miles hurriedly goes over to the door before opening it for Y/n, who slips through before decloaking.
Y/n: "Hey!"
Miles: "Hey, dude! So glad you could make it"
Y/n: "Me too. I brought you guys something by the way"
Y/n then hands Miles the bottle of bleach that he swiped from the bathroom.
Miles: "Oh...you shouldn't have..."
Y/n: "Come on, I can't just come here without giving your family a present"
Miles: "No, seriously. You shouldn't have"
Miles then begrudgingly took their bleach from Y/n's hands.
Miles: "I'll just put this with the rest of the bleach. Come in"
Miles then steps away from the door and goes to put away the bleach.
Jeff: "So you're the friend Miles was talking about"
Right as Y/n shuts the front door behind him, he was immediately met with Miles's parents.
Y/n: "Mr. and Mrs. Morales. So nice to meet you two"
Jeff and Rio were immediately taken aback by Y/n's greeting.
Y/n: "My name is Y/n L/n, I'm friends with your son"
Jeff: "Hmm, funny. Miles never once mentioned you"
Y/n: "That's because I just transferred to Vision's academy mid-semester. Miles helped me get accustomed to the school quite quickly, I'm very thankful for it"
Rio then leans over to her husband and whispers into his ear.
Rio: *whispers* "I like him already"
Jeff: *whispers* "Me too"
Jeff then walks over and places his arm around Y/n's shoulder.
Jeff: "Why don't you come in and have a seat? Dinner's about to be cooked"
Y/n: "Yum!"
Before Rio could join Jeff, a doorbell chime rung across the entire house, confusing her.
Rio: "That doorbell never worked. Mijo, could you get the door for me, please?"
Miles: "Si!, Mama!"
After putting away the bleach in a cabinet, Miles heads back to the front door before opening it, being met on the other side was none other than Miles's uncle Aaron.
Aaron: "Hey, Miles. Hope your family wouldn't mind, but I brought a Rugrat on the way here"
A woman then steps in from the side, the girl looked to be around Miles's age as she wore an excited smile on her face.
Miles: "PHIN!!?"
???: "Hey. Fixed your doorbell"
The girl, named Phin, walks in and hugs Miles to which he happily reciprocates.
Miles: "How are you? It's been..."
Phin: "Years. A lot has changed"
As Aaron heads to the kitchen, Y/n peeks out from the living room.
Y/n: "Hey! Who's the chick?"
With a smirk, Y/n walks around the corner and walked over to Miles and Phin.
Miles: "Dude! *to Phin* Sorry about him. This is Y/n L/n, a friend of mine from Visions Academy. Y/n, this is Phin Mason. My best friend from childhood"
Y/n: *hums* "Isn't that neat. Nice to meet you, Phin"
Phin: "Same to you, Y/n"
Y/n and Phin then shared a friendly handshake, all the while Y/n began to inspect Phin's features.
Phin: "Is...something wrong?"
Y/n: "You know, don't take this the wrong way but...I thought your head was a little more, triangular. Or is that a different Phin?"
Miles then walked over to Y/n and flicked his ear, subtly using a bit of his venom power as he does.
Y/n: *hiss* "Ow!"
Y/n pulls his hand away before rubbing his ear.
Y/n: "It was a joke. I think your friend's cute, you guys should totally hook up!"
Miles and Phin immediately blushed in unison.
Jeff/Rio: "ABSOLUTELY NOT!"
Y/n: "It was another joke!!"
After regaining their composure, Phin looks at Miles and smiles.
Phin: "I'll see you in the living room"
Phin then walks in between Miles and Y/n before finally greeting Rio and Jeff.
Y/n: "Seriously though, you guys should get together, to say the least"
Miles: "Do you ever just, NOT talk about anything embarrassing?"
Y/n: "No, not when I'm awake"
