Temp and I were in her car making our way over to Booth as we speak on the phone with Cam as I say, "He pulled the finger out of a bird's nest." Cam asks, "Did he completely freak out?" Temp answers, "Booth said Parker wanted to put it in his pocket and take it home." We then hear someone else speak, "When it comes to boys, that 'snip and snails and puppy dogs' tails' thing is pretty accurate." Cam asks, "You have a son?" "I have four." Temp adds, "Mr. Starret is my oldest grad student." I add, "He also has amazing advice and knowledge about many things." Tempt asks, "Can you get a fingerprint?" "Uh, not enough flesh." Starret then says, "There are scrapes on the bone and a jagged appearance here where it was severed." I then say, "Well, it was probably chewed off by a wild animal."
We then hear Hodgins, "The sticky stuff on the finger turns out to be sap from a flowering Japanese cherry. I know you from somewhere." It was silent for a second as Starret then says, "Right. I sold you a vintage '50s hot rod back in the mid- '90s. You were clean-shaven back then." "Because I was a kid." I then ask, "But you drove a hot rod, Hodgins?" "No, I did not. The lemon he sold me broke down after a week." Cam then says, "Body parts in park, mystery needs solving." Hodgins then says, "The nest was made by Corvus brachyrhynchos, the American crow. A crow will seldom stray more than 12 miles from its nest." Starret then says, "There's a spectacular copse of Japanese flowering cherry at the Jefferson Memorial." Hodgins asks, "How do you know?" "Career number two: parks supervisor." Cam then says, "The Jefferson Memorial is eight miles from where Parker found the finger." I nod says, "Amazing work, guys." I then hear Hodgins say, "I'd say 'King of the lab,' but... that just depresses me." It hangs up as I sigh sadly, "Me too." Temp looks over at me seeing my mood dropped, "Are you okay? You don't need to do this case. I know you're still in anguish over what happened... especially since you, Hodgins, and Zack where all so close and you and Zack did almost everything together." I smiled softly, "Yeah, I'll be okay. I just need time... that's all." She nods.
We have been at the Jefferson Memorial for a few hours as it had turned dark out already with Booth as Temp says, "When I was five years old, I went next door to visit our neighbor, Mrs. Walkey, and she was dead, sitting at the kitchen table. And I'm all right." I then add, "I remember seeing a body for the first time, I was in a foster home with some other kids... I was 7 at the time and I could say for sure that we weren't treated well. They would always starve us and it once lead to a point with one of the kids had actually starved to death... We were sent to different homes after that... I think I am okay..." The two looked at me for a second as Booth then says, "You both spend your life with skeletons... and you Blueberry have episodes of panic attacks on top of it." We looked at him as I shrug thinking that he was right as he continues, "It's just a matter of time. He's just a kid. He's gonna realize that he had a dead finger in his hand, he's gonna freak out." Temp then says, "You afraid you're gonna get in trouble with Rebecca?" "There's a chance that he might not say anything to her." I then say, "So, yes." He nods.
We then hear an Agent, "Agent Booth?" "Yeah." "We found something." We started heading over as Booth asks, "Okay. What have you got? Whoa." We go over to body as we see an opossum as instincts kicked in as I yelp and jump on Booth as stagger for a second looking at me as Temp says, "Oh... It's an opossum." The agent adds, "Eating a body. Should I shoot it?" "No. No, no, no. Opossums are scared of humans." Booth adds while pointing at me who is still holding onto him, "Well this human seems afraid of it." I looked at him not getting down, "It's a natural reaction... I may have been in the army... but there are still things that don't sit well with me." We watch as Temp hands her flashlight to the agent as she starts trying to scare off the opossum. "Here. Shoo, shoo, shoo! Shoo, shoo! Go, go, go, go!" Booth and I watch in disbelief as the opossum didn't look afraid at all just walking away as Temp continued. "Go, go, go. Shoo, shoo. Come one. Shoo, shoo. Shoo, shoo, shoo, shoo, shoo, shoo, shoo, shoo, shoo." Booth then says, "Yeah. They're terrified." I slowly get down from Booth as I look at the body shining my light on it, "A number of body parts are missing. We'll have to grid the vicinity."
Booth then says, "Okay, we'll re-calibrate the search, and will call this ground zero." Temp then adds pointing on the ground, "Fanny pack. PDA clip" Booth nods, "Well, if you can identify this person, I can subpoena the PDA's contents." Temp then says, "Partial skull." Booth then says, "Whoa. Look at that. The possum's dead. I got it. The victim was poisoned, the possum ate the victim, got poisoned and died. That's it." I shake my head as Temp goes near the opossum as I say, "A stressed-out opossum can go into a false sleep lasting up to four hours." I see Temp grabbing the opossum by the tail as I stand right next to Booth grabbing his sleeve as the opossum starts moving again as Booth says, "Wow. The possum was faking it?" "I nod. "Wow." We watch it leave as Booth says, "Yeah. There it goes." Temp then says, "Uh, you should go get him." "What do I look like, Ranger Rick?" "He could have evidence in his digestive tract." "Come on, Bones." "Booth, evidence." Booth looks at me as I shake my head, "Don't look at me... If I go you will never see that opossum again." "Fine, I'll go get your possum." Temp corrects him, "Opossum." "Possum." "Opossum."
We get a call from the team saying that our victim was a vet named Dr. Elliot. So, Booth called his wife up to the FBI headquarters as we talk to her in a conference room. She says, "Oh, God. I've always hated that fanny pack. That's blood on it, isn't it? What happened?" Temp asks, "Mrs. Elliot, when did you last speak with your husband?" "Ex-husband. On Thursday, we made arrangements for Seth to pick up Brando. We have joint custody." Booth asks, "And Brando is..." We then hear a whimper and a dog head pop out of a bag as my eyes started to glisten at the adorably sight. Booth finishes, "Your cat." Temp and I corrected him, " That's a dog." "I... Thank you. So, uh... Seth Elliot never picked up Fido?" Temp and I corrected him again, "Brando." "The dog?" "Seth's dead, isn't he?" "I'm afraid so."
Mrs. Elliot starts crying as Temp looks at me staring at the dog with my glisten eyes as she then asks Mrs. Elliot. "May we hold your dog while you cry?" She nods and hands Brando over to Temp as she adds, "Oh, he's so compact." Temp hands Brando to me as I looked at him in amazement and start petting and playing with him as Booth and Temp watch me. I was being distracted with Brando as I just hear Mrs. Elliot say, "Brando adored Seth. So did I." Booth then says, "Wow, not so many ex-wives speak so fondly of their former husbands." "I never wanted to divorce Seth." Temp asks as I continue to pet and play with Brando, "Then why did you?" "You know, Seth had serious gambling problem. He would either lose our car payment, or he would come home with diamond earrings. And when he lost our house, filing for divorce was supposed to be a wake-up call." Booth adds, "And he never woke up." "No." "Listen do you have the, uh, bookie's name?" "No. Ask Karen." Booth and Temp ask, "Who's Karen?" Just as the dog yaps at Booth making jump as I chuckle, "Who's a good boy?"
We are at the place Dr. Elliot works talking to Karen as she says, "I've been Dr. Elliot's assistant, receptionist, whatever, for, like, eight months. Murder?" Temp then says, "His remains were found in the Jefferson Memorial Park." "Oh, my God. Poor Seth. I don't know what'll happen to this place now." I then ask, "Was it doing well?" "We made barely enough to pay the rent, cover his salary, mine and... and the kid who sweeps up." "So, no. Not very well." "Seth didn't tell me everything, but I could sense he was under a lot of pressure. He tossed and turned all night." Booth then asks, "So you slept together?" "He's divorced. I'm single. There's nothing enervating about it." Temp then says, "Oh, for future reference, that word doesn't mean what you think."
Booth then asks, "Look, are you aware that Dr. Elliot had a gambling problem?" "That was Seth's one fault." "We'd like to talk to his bookie, if you know where he is." "I don't think that's how Seth gambled." I then ask, "How did he gamble?" "Online poker mostly." Booth asks, "Can you think of anything else?" "Just after I started here, Seth caught a guy stealing drugs. He wrestled him to the ground, called the cops. Everyone said Seth was a hero." Temp asks, "What kind of drugs?" "Ketamine. It's an animal tranquilizer. And the guy went to prison. Do you think he killed Seth for revenge?" Booth then says, "You know, thank you for your help. We're really sorry for your loss. Come on, Bones, Blueberry." We start leaving as Karen says, "Without Seth, I'm paralyzed. I don't know how I'll find the energy to go on." Temp then speaks, "Now that is what 'enervating' means." I cover Temps mouth as Booth turns her around saying, "Bones."
We are in the car as Temp says, "Okay, Tucker Payne. He was found guilty of stealing drugs from Dr. Elliot's vet clinic, sentenced to two years and he was paroled one month ago." Booth then says, "I'll have the drug thief's parole officer bring him in for questioning, okay?" Temp gets a call, "Brennan." She then puts it on speaker as Cam speaks, "Dr. Brennan, Hodgins found saliva." "Where?" "On the victim." "But why was Hodgins looking for saliva?" We then hear Hodgins, "I wasn't looking for saliva. I found it. Giant difference." Booth then says, "Oh! Easy, pal. Watch your tone." I then say, "It's alright Ranger, he's going through something right now... let him vent if he needs to right now. He's just coping that way." Temp then says, "I don't care about tone, I just care about results." Cam then says, "Dr. Hodgins was looking for particulates on the mandible and vertebrae that might lead to a murder weapon when he found saliva." Hodgins then speaks, "There was enough saliva in the wounds to run a DNA profile." Booth then says, "Well, it had to be the possum, right?" Starret adds, "The puncture wounds indicate something larger."
Booth then asks, "Hey, who's that?" We hear Hodgins say, "A fraudulent used car salesman." Cam then speaks, "Booth, meet Mr. Starret." Hodgins continued, "I ran the standard eight nuclear markers for canids..." Booth asks, "Canids? What is that, like some kind of a bug?" Starret speaks, "Not a bug, Agent Booth." Hodgins cuts in, "Canis lupus familiaris. See how annoying that interrupting know-it-all used-car salesman thing can be?" Booth then says, "I mean, I'm sorry, w-what is a can-ass... familiar-ass..." I then answer, "Domestic dog." Cam adds, "Seth Elliot was killed by a dog with filed teeth."
I was in the other side of the interrogation room watching Booth and Tucker on the other side as Booth says, "Tucker Felix Payne. You really must hate your parents for naming you that." "It's a good name. Felix means 'lucky." "Assault, possession of various restricted weapons, various drug offenses. You don't seem so lucky." "You should see the stuff they didn't get me on." "Was it good luck that you got taken down by a veterinarian?" "I was so high I couldn't been taken down by a florist." "Yeah. The vet is dead. You get paroled vet turns up murdered. You see where I'm going with this? Make your dog bark?" "You told me to bring Schatzi so you could hear him bark?" "Schatzi?" "It means 'treasure' in German." "Yeah, I want to hear Schatzi bark." "Geplant." Schatzi barks as Booth then says, "I can't see its teeth."
We watch at Schatzi growls as Booth takes out his gun placing it on the table saying, "Want to show me its teeth?" Felix does so showing Booth Schatzi's teeth. Booth then asks, "Why do you file it's teeth down to points?" "I'm a drug dealer. You people catch me with a gun, I go away forever." "Schatzi your choice of weapon?" "Never had to use him yet. Were you really going to shoot my dog?" "I got nothing against your dog. I was going to shoot you." Booth puts his gun away taking out a warrant, "See, I'm going to take your dog." "Aw, man, you got a warrant for my dog? Mm-hmm. That's cold." I then got an idea as I get out of my room and go to Booth as I open the door as the two men looked at me as I smiled and said, "I am here to take Schatzi."
Booth asks, "What?" I nod, "Yeah, I will take him back to the lab." Booth nods as I go over to Schatzi standing a good distance as I bend down to his height and wait for a bit for he could get somewhat acostumed to me as I look up at Felix. "Could you hand me his leash." He does so as I start taking Schatzi out of the room. Just as I close the door I look down at him and smile and started to pet him. "Who's a good boy?! Yes you are." I am playing with Schatzi for a minute as Booth then comes out of the room looking down at us as Schatzi was on his back as I was giving him belly rubs. "Taking him to the lab?" I nod, "Yes... right after giving him his belly rubs."
I had taken Schatzit to the lab as they put him in a cage to my dislike as I was with Cam and Starret as he says, "Per your instructions, I Microsiled the lethal bite mark. See here?" We nod as Cam says, "An irregularity in the wound track. Yes. I took an impression of Schatzi's bite." Cam asks, "Who's Schatzi?" Schatzi barks as Starret and I say at the same time, "Drug dealer's dog." Starret turns to him saying, "Sei jetzt shon." Schatzi stops barking as the two looked back at each other as I sneakily walked away from them without them noticing. I go to the cage saying, "Ruhig." I unlock the cage, "Kommen." Schatzi does as I start petting him as Starret says, "He responds to German commands." Cam adds, "Very intimidating." "The dog that killed Dr. Elliot has a pronounced crack in its cainine tooth, and the neighboring biscuspid shows a slab fracture. Very distinct." "So Schatzi's not our killer?" "Shatzi is innocent."
They both turn around to look at him just to find me rubbing his belly again saying, "Wer ist ein guter junge? Du bist der gute Junge. Du der gute junge." I then hear Cam cough as I stop looking at them, "Yes, I know... but he's innocent... and adorable... I want one." A phone rings as I stand up saying to Schatzi, "Folgen." as Cam answers it and puts it on speaker as, "Hey Hodgins." "City police found the vet's car. A forensic crew is going through it now. Booth wanted me to make sure the didn't screw things up... Hey, deal with it." "Well, I hope you find something 'cause this puppy's innocent and Venus is close to wanting to take him." I look down at Schatzi who's sitting down next to me as I say, "Du bist so ein guter Welpe." We then hear Hodgins ask, "You speak German?" Cam shakes her head, "No, Venus does." "She does?"
I speak, "Ja." Cam then says to Hodgins, "Hurry." "Yeah, well, we're finding gobs of dried blood." "It's a vet's vehicle- could be from one of his patients." Starret then speaks, "It's not." Hodgins then says, "Don't listen to him. You'll end up buying this blood-soaked heap for three times its value." "I worked as a vet's assistant in college when I was studying to be an EMT. We were as careful with blood as any human doctor." "You ever think this vet didn't live up to your high standards?" "Most likely, the car was used to transport the victim's body, and then dumped." I then said, "That does make more sense." Hodgins then says, "I found a..." We hear someone clearing their throat as Hodgins then says, "Excuse me. The crack FBI team found a prescription bottle of erythromycin."
Cam and I say at the same time, "That's not an animal drug." Cam continues, "That's a macrolide antibiotic used for a number of conditions." Starred adds, "Including acne and STDs." We looked at him weirdly as he continues, "Four boys." Cam adds, "Maybe we got lucky, and the bad guy dropped his prescription." Hodgins then speaks, "Bottle reads 'Donald Timmons," Starret adds, "We should track him down." "Wow! That is an absolutely wonderful idea. That could only have sprung from the time-tempered mind of a man with your life's experience ripping off unsuspecting car enthusiasts." We then hear a familiar voice speak from Hodgins side, "I feel better. You treat everyone like crap."
I then ask, "Was that Marcus?" Hodgins speaks, "I don't know his name?" "Ask then?" "Is your name Marus?" I hear Marcus say, "Yes." "It's Marcus." I then add, "Hodgins, don't be so mean to him. I understand your going through something right now, but you shouldn't release it on Marcus. If anything, put your anger out on me instead. Now say sorry to Marcus and say hi to him for me." I hear silence on the phone for a minute and a sigh, "I am sorry Marcus... and Venus says hi." "Thank you. Say hello as well to her." "He says hello." I smile, "Nice job Hodgins. Now I must leave and go with Temp and Booth and tell them what we know so far." They nod as I start walking away with Schatzi by my side as I hear a cough from Cam as I look at her as she says, "The dog?" I look down at Schatzi and sigh, "Geh zuruck." He listens and goes back inside his cage and lies down. I sadly walk away as Cam and Starret watches.
I am with Temp and Booth in the car driving to our next lead as we arrived as we see two dogs in front of the property as Booth stops the car, "Whoa. Look at that pit, huh? Muscles like cantaloupes." We see the dogs bark as I squeaked excitedly as I was about to get out as I hear and see the car door get locked as Temp says, "Is that why we're not getting out?" Booth shakes his head, "No, it's the country, Bones. They got a different way of doing things." I then say, "You're afraid of the dog." "No, I'm not. What you do in the country is you sit in your car and you wait. It's rural-polite. Parker had a nightmare." Temp asks, "About severed fingers?" "No. It was a singing frog." I was confused as Temp says, "I don't see the connection, but then I'm one of those people who think if you dream about a banana, it's probably just a banana." "He's acting up in school. He's talking back to his mom. He's not flushing the toilet."
Temp and I say at the same time, "He's a boy." "Okay. Yeah. I get it. You saw a whole lady's corpse and you saw a... well you were both little girls, and your both fine or fine-ish." I shrug as Temp says, "Yes. Although, for some reason that I do not understand, I kept staging my own death, pretending that I drowned in the bathtub, faking electrical shock. It really freaked our parents out. And then, once, when Russ found me hanging, he had to go see the school psychologist." Booth and I were shocked as Booth says, "But otherwise you were fine?" "Yeah." I add, "I am so glad I wasn't born right there and then..." Booth nods, "Yeah. Okay. Do you dream about bananas a lot?" I shake my head as Temp ask, "Why?" Booth shrugs as I see the property owner right out front as I ask, "Can we get out of the car now?" Booth unlocks it as we get out as Booth asks, "Don Timmons?" "Why you just waiting in the car? Gladys wouldn't hurt you." "FBI Special Agent Booth. These here are my associates, Dr. Brennan and Dr. Venus."
Temp asks, "Do you know Dr. Seth Elliot?" "Sure, I do. Went to high school with him. He's my bet. Why?" Booth informs him, "He was murdered." "Oh, man. Hey Robbie. Hey, Robbie!" A boy about my age comes out, "What's up?" "Seth died." "What happened?" "This is the FBI. They say he got murdered. This is my boy Robbie. He used to work for Seth part-time." Temp then asks, "Can you think of a reason why Dr. Elliot's car would be full of blood?" Robbie shakes his head, "No. No. It's not like he ran animal ambulance or something." Booth asks, "Have you ever ride in his car, Mr. Timmons?" "No. Never. Why?" I hand the prescription to him as Robbie says, "Oh. When it's bagged like that, it means it's evidence, Dad. It's not his. It's mine." "Robbie." "Dad, it's a murder investigation.
They don't care about insurance." "I'm too old to be on my dad's insurance." I nod, "So, he got the prescription under your name?" Temp adds, "But that's fraud." Mr. Timmons then says, "That's working around a system that doesn't care about people like us. Listen, I'm the father. Robbie shouldn't be held responsible." Booth then asks Robbie, "How about you? You been in Dr. Elliot's car recently?" "Last... last time was on the weekend. We did a gelding over at Danny Oliver's place." I ask, "What about Tuesday night? Where were you?" "I was at my tutor's. Trying to get my GED." I nod as I hear a squeak, so I look down seeing Gladys bringing his toy football over to me as I smile and bend down, "Hi."
I start petting him as Mr. Timmons says, "Robbie's going to go to medical school if it kills both of us." I am playing with the dog as it barks happily as Robbie says, "I was kind of thinking I'd be a vet." "Yeah. Well, that's a good backup if you crap out on medical school." Booth then asks, "We're going to need the tutor's name, address, all that stuff." "It's Andrew Hopp. He'll vouch for Robbie." I look up from petting the dog, "Gladys is a very nice dog." Robbie nods, "Yeah. Dad really trained 'em great." Mr. Timmons then says, "Gladys, come." He snaps his fingers as Gladys listens, "Sit." He does so, "Lay down... Watch." Gladys barks as he stops as Booth says, "Wow. That's impressive." "No sense in owning a dog if you can't control it." I then look at Temp and Booth, "Glady's teeth are not filed." Robbie asks, "What?" Booth answers as I turn back to Gladys, "Dr. Elliot was killed by a dog with sharpened teeth." Booth then sees me throwing his football in the distance as he asks, "Blueberry, what are you doing? Enough playing with the dog." I look at him, "What?" Mr. Timmons asks, "Seth was murdered by a dog?" I shake my head as Temp speaks, "The murderer was a human being." I add, "The murder weapon was a dog."
