Darkened blue eyes watched as a silly giggle escaped from between your lips as you looked as if you were totally smitten with Ikaris sitting next to you. The eternal had previously made a silly joke, which to Druig was not funny at all and in fact, was stupid, just like Ikaris.
His jaw clenched as his fellow eternal rested his hand on your forearm and laughed foolishly, and once again, your laughter followed his like an echo.
Druig could almost feel his blood boiling through his veins. You looked like a couple of little girls, not at all as if you were the strongest beings in the universe, as if you didn't have the enormous responsibility of protecting an entire planet. You two really looked happy, fulfilled, it was disgusting.
He was just jealous, of course, but he wasn't going to accept it just yet.
His hand pressed against the glass he held around his fingers unconsciously and he took a sip in silence.
What a nice family dinner. He thought sourly. He had quickly regretted going in the first place. He felt like throwing up and specifically all over Ikaris.
His eyes narrowed around the scene unfolding right in front of them and he abruptly set the glass down hard on the little wooden table.
You belonged to him. Your soul belonged to his, to be by his side, bond together, for eternity. And there you were, giggling like a little girl in the arms of another man, a man Druig particularly disliked. He felt betrayed.
He was supposed to be Hades and you Persephone. Fire and ice. Day and night. Moon and Sun. You were meant to be together. How hard was that for you to understand? About 7,000 more years? Though, he surely would wait that all over again if that meant being able to hold your hand.
And by the time Ikaris leaned over to murmur something in your ear, Druig couldn't take it anymore. He stood up abruptly and suddenly all eyes were on him, yours looking at him with concern, for which he clicked his tongue bitterly.
Gilgamesh frowned, concerned, sitting next to him. "Is everything alright, Druig?"
"What's wrong, Dru?" Your soft voice full of concern made him clench his jaw, his eyes on you and only you, staring at you in disbelief and betrayal. He was hurt, you could sense him miles away. You were the only one who could do it after all.
The mind controller laughed wryly and shook his head, his blue eyes, totally darkened with anger traveled from you to your new friend sitting next to you. "Don't worry about me, (Y/N). I can tell you're too busy giving attention to your new partner."
Ikaris raised an eyebrow at his strange and outbursting behavior, more or less already understanding the cause of it, which made him feel amused.
All joyful chattering among the eternals seated around the table came to an abrupt halt at Druig's outburst, since it was truly shocking that he would explode like that, he was one of the calmest and most expressionless of the group. And the strangest thing was to see him treat you that way, so disrespectful. He surely hated everyone there, but not you and they knew that well.
Your eyebrows furrowed at his words and you opened your mouth to answer him, feeling a bit embarrassed to have all the attention on you now, but your soulmate stole your word, spitting out his own in a verbal vomit that he couldn't stop, apparently.
"You must have been too busy fucking around with him all these years, haven't you?" An eyebrow rose on Druig's pale face, which had grown cold, as had his eyes, which looked like two icy grayish icebergs. Kingo choked on his drink at his words. Your expression suddenly changed to one of disbelief, you felt totally offended, but, you allowed him to let out all his emotions. Once in a while it was okay for him to do so. "It really surprises me that you've fallen into his claws, he tells you silly jokes and stories of his absurd victories to then have you under him, didn't he? Did he take you to see a beautiful sunset or a pretty flowery field? You're so dumb to fall for that? I expected more from you, Persephone."
You gasped, not because of his choice of words, but because of what he had called you. Persephone. It was what the humans called you, even Kingo had used it jokingly a couple of times, but not him, never Druig, he really was furious enough to use that name that felt so distant to you.
Ikaris stood up and out of the corner of your eye you could see his fists clench tightly at his sides. "Enough, Druig."
The self-proclaimed leader's voice echoed firmly in the room, his tone sinking to one of warning. And with his words, tension quickly rose in the air.
Druig smiled bitterly, watching as your hand circled Ikaris' forearm in an attempt to calm him. You had never liked fights among the group, and even in the state of rage he was in, he didn't want to cause triggering in you, so he held back. "Yes, it is enough."
Without further ado, the mind controller turned on his feet and left the room, slamming the door hard behind him, causing the walls to shake slightly with the sudden knock.
Kingo exhaled the air he was holding in his lungs, whistling softly as he raised his eyebrows, smiling sweetly towards all of his companions in front of him. "How nice to have dinner all together again."
You cringed at Kingo's words and shot him a bad look, to which he responded with a shrug of shoulders.
Sprite, who was sitting next to him, was quick to slap his shoulder with an annoyed expression. "You always say the right words at the right time, huh? You idiot."
Kingo brought his hand to the smacked area and frowned, exaggerating a pained expression. "Easy, kid. Don't you have any manners?"
Almost instantly Sprite and Kingo began to argue. Thena smiled, looking at them as she drank from her own giant cup and Phastos rolled his eyes, starting to eat again.
And you just sat there, with a bitter taste in your mouth and a strange weight on your shoulders. All of the sudden, you felt guilty.
Sersi sighed and turned to look at you, sitting next to her former lover. "Sorry about Druig, (Y/N). He can be a bit stubborn sometimes."
"Sometimes?" Ikaris replied in a sarcastic tone, but his expression was neutralized when his, still, wife looked at him severely, he laced his hand on your shoulder, giving you a gentle squeeze in the form of comfort. "Go talk to him and let that idiot know that I'm literally married to Sersi. He may have had a bad day, who knows. You know how weird that mind of his is."
Makkari rested her hand over yours on the table surface and gave it a gentle squeeze, drawing your attention. A small smile of encouragement was plastered on her lips as she nodded her head a couple of times.
You turned to look at the former couple sitting on your other side, they both looked at you with the same expression of Makkari and with a roll of your eyes you got up from your chair and without further ado, hurried to the exit of the place, excusing yourself softly.
Ikaris' blue eyes traveled to his fellow eternals, who were now looking at the door just after you left the room and he proceeded to snort, looking incredulous. "When is he going to confess his feelings to (Y/N)? Seriously, I'm getting bored with his obnoxious childish behavior of his."
Kingo rested his chin on his hand in a gesture that expressed boredom. "It's literally been 7,000 years. They have been dancing around each other like ignorant children."
"Well, we all know how our dear Druig and (Y/N) are like." Gilgames added, letting out a sigh.
"You mean idiots." Phastos replied, raising his eyebrows.
"Leave them alone, they only needed time." Makkari signaled with a serious, almost menacing expression toward her fellow eternals, but a small smile was rising on her lips, looking excited now. "And I think now is the right time."

It was quite a warm evening outside, almost comforting. The trees danced calmly under the command of the wind. You wiggled your fingers slightly and a breeze of warm air whipped against your face, lifting your hair gently and seconds later, you lifted off the ground. Searching from above was much easier than from the ground, after all.
And by the time you found him, you could almost hear his negative, nagging thoughts, even, if you tried hard enough, you could see a dark energy radiating from his body, full of anger and irritation. His hands were on either side of him, fiercely clenching the surface of the huge fallen log he was sitting on.
You dropped to the ground silently and sharpened your senses, you managed to hear the unstoppable mumbling babble escaping from between his lips.
Dumb, stupid, moron, idiot–
"Can you tell me what's going on?" Your voice rose in the, previously, silent atmosphere inside the forest and interrupting his self-hating mutterings.
You stood facing his broad back, which jerked upright when he heard you, as did his previously crestfallen head. He seemed to have been scolding himself, so absorbed in his own mind that he had completely ignored the presentiment of your presence approaching him.
He slightly twisted his head, allowing you to see his beautiful profile, that upturned nose that had always seemed the most adorable thing you had ever seen. "It's nothing."
"Don't lie to me, Druig." You replied as you approached him cautiously. Your steps as silent as they had always been, until you were standing next to him, searching his gaze with a twist of your head, his eyes were set on a non-existent spot on the forest floor, just below his feet.
The natural and beautiful blue of his orbs was obscured by that shadow that, until now, you were completely unaware of. He was showing you a side of him that you had never witnessed before, of course, arguments with Ikaris and with the team in general always made him show anger and discomfort, but never towards you.
"Something is bothering you. It's not very you to react so bluntly. What happened?"
The eternal shook his head, not even giving you a second of his visual attention. "Just go, I'm sure your dearest Ikaris is waiting for you."
You sighed, hearing the bitterness hang on his tongue as he spoke those words. "Don't start with that, Druig. You're being irrational, he just—"
"He courted you?" He interrupted you, finally turning his head towards you, his blue eyes were brimming with pure irony, there was no softness in them. He was still angry with you and you didn't quite understand why, so you let your own anger shoot through your chest into your whole body, demanding a logical cause for his illogical tantrum.
"He stayed with me, Druig, remember? When you went away and left us. When you left me. It's normal to have more closeness with a person who was by your side for a long time." The eternal in front of you snapped his mouth shut sharply, clenching his jaw tightly at your words. "You just turned your back on me and left. For 200 years I waited for you. Ikaris was kind enough to accept me into his home and support me after everything that happened."
His eyes seemed to soften at your words. "(Y/N)—"
"No, you don't have the right to accuse me for anything at all." You quickly interrupted him, feeling a wave of fury shoot through your body, you pointed at him with your index finger in a threatening manner, although your eyes showed nothing but pain and disappointment. "All these years I waited for you, waited for you to come looking for me."
Druig just huffed, turning deaf ears to your demands and deciding to strike back at you.
"And what about you, (Y/N)?" You raised an eyebrow at his demanding tone. "Back there I thought you would come with me, 200 years ago. That's the way it should have been, since you thought the same way I did about humanity. You wanted to protect them, didn't you? I saw how you looked at them. You didn't want more wars between them, you wanted to stop the genocides and massacres. But you were afraid of disappointing your dear leader, weren't you? So you decided to stay with Ikaris, to follow Ikaris." Druig spat his words as he jumped to his feet, standing right in front of you and looking down at you with anger and fury, jealousy shading the paleness of his normally carefree face. "You were bound to be with me, your soul is meant to be with mine, they are tied together, but you chose him."
Your eyes burned from the tears that struggled with coming out as you held his gaze. You thought wryly how similar you eternals were to humans after all. "So that's what this is all about, then? Because of your stupid competition with Ikaris?"
The eternal's eyebrows in front of you furrowed at your words, he twisted his head, his shoulders slumping, his expression with anger falling and turning to one full of sadness. "You know that's not true."
"Then why are you acting like this? Why have you been like this all this time?!"
And Druig couldn't hold it in any longer, that sentence he had studied and analyzed days, weeks, months, years. That emotion he wanted so much to hold deep in his heart.
He couldn't just hold it any longer. So he let it all out of the depths of his chest.
"Because I'm in love with you!"
You stand stunned, all you could feel was a shiver run through you from head to toe, a blizzard of wind surrounding you, this time the wind was warm, as warm as your face when you finally managed to fall into the words spoken by Druig.
Suddenly the tension-filled atmosphere dropped and it seemed that the entire forest was plunged into a pure, expectant silence.
Love? Love was a territory you had never entered, much less with Druig. Practically since you had been created you had never even touched the subject.
What was love? Of course, a human feeling, if not the most human feeling in existence. You could see it every day, between parents and children, between siblings, between family, between a person and their pet... between lovers.
"All this time, all these years I have been." His voice barely rose above the silent ambient, but somehow, you managed to hear it perfectly, no matter that all you heard in your ears was the accelerated pounding of your heart and the gentle buzzing of your senses completely altered and out of control. You just stood right in front of him, completely frozen. "How could I not? You were made for me as I was made for you. W—we were made for each other, to be together, for eternity. But contrary to what our creators thought, we act like fools, constantly trying to ignore the fact that we were created to be with each other. I was a fool."
Very slowly, Druig began to walk towards you, his voice trembling slightly as he spoke and you could swear his eyes were shining as never before, the blue of his orbs becoming almost as glittering as the sky itself above. And you? You just let yourself fall into them, heavenly blue enveloping you completely.
He was literally glowing, right in front of you.
"Druig—" You finally managed to formulate a word and it had been his name, of course, but he quickly interrupted you, just as he was a couple of steps away from you, gently and cautiously brushed your trembling hand and wrapped it between his fingers.
A small smile tugged at his lips as he realized the state you were in, all because of him. It was truly incredible to think that you were one of the strongest of the group when there you were, like a little bunny terrified by its ruthless predator.
"And it's not because of a competition." He rolled his pretty captivating blue eyes. "It's not because of Ikaris, it's because of you, it's you. It's always been you." His lower lip was caught under his teeth for a couple of seconds before he spoke again, looking somewhat hesitant. Of course, Druig was not used to referring to his feelings. "I just hated the fact of even thinking about the image of you with someone else. You shouldn't be with anyone else, only with me, that's what you were created for... for me."
His countenance as confident as ever seemed to drop from one moment to the next, adding up into a serious, almost melancholy expression once he sighed heavily. "I was a fool not to tell you sooner and I was a fool to have gone away from you, to escape... I thought doing so would help me escape from my feelings for you too, but," he snorted bitterly, "I could never get you out of my mind, you lived there, all the time, all those years.... you still live there. Always. It's your home now..."
He stopped his cautious steps only inches away from you, starring at you from his height, admiring you, every part of your face and body and he looked beyond, he looked inside you, the bright blue of his eyes breaking through barriers, he was looking at your soul.
Both of his hands held yours now and he raised his right hand to his chest, under your palm feeling the rapid beating of his heart, beating for you and only you.
"I want to make your mind my home too."
By the time he finished speaking, your fingers had intertwined between his unconsciously, almost as if his hand was the missing piece attached to yours and brought your right hand with his back to you, until you could give it a gentle kiss just above his soft fingers, never breaking eye contact.
"My mind is already your home, Druig." You whispered just like a gentle gust of warm wind enveloping you both. "It's yours, I'm yours, always been yours, you know that."
All feelings of pain, anger and sadness were erased by a warm wave that ran through your whole body. And suddenly, it was just him. It was all him. It seemed like a revelation, right in front of you, in your arms, in the form of the most precious being your eyes had ever seen.
"Never leave me again." You whispered.
"Never again." He whispered back.
Druig smirked as he leaned into you, until his forehead rested against yours and procceed to closed his eyes, feeling your scent and warmth envelop him completely. He could feel your whitish, glowing energy surround him and intersect with his yellow one, causing a whole new feeling to shoot from the pit of his stomach throughout his whole body, he felt relaxation and comfort, that, until now, unknown feeling of home.
"Good to know I didn't have to cast a spell on you to make you say that. Or declare a fight to the death with Ikaris for you." The smirk remained on his lips as he spoke. "We'd all know how that would end."
It was your turn to smirk. "With you getting your ass kicked."
