Two weeks after the camping trip, finals exams started.
"FINALLY, WE'RE FREE" Venti cherred as they got out of the exam Hall.
"Venti, people are staring at us... " Kazuha tried to calm his friend down.
Aether checked his phone and saw that club practice was about to start. "I have to go for club practice"
"Oh ok, I will make some grilled fish for you after practice. I made a new recipe and need people to try it" Kazuha looked at Venti and Aether.
"For the end of year festival we need to think of something big, exciting and not inappropriate like last year's festival" The club leader looked at the seniors and they were trying not to laugh.
"What happened during last year's festival? " Aether asked Xiao.
"The seniors suggested a maid cafe but the club leader was against it so we had to perform something since we did not have any ideas"
"That's an interesting idea... " Aether replied
"But last year there were not so many girls, we have enough members to do it this year. " one of the seniors said
The other seniors also agreed to the idea. "But the girls would not agree to it, am I right? "the club leader protested
"Not if" the senior grabbed Xiao " we have Xiao dress up as a butler. Wouldn't the girls want to see Xiao in a suit and offer drinks to you" the senior looked at the girls.
The girls started blushing as they discussed about something before finally agreeing to have a maid cafe.
"I will not allow it" the club leader demanded. The club discussion ended after a debate with the club leader and the seniors.
Aether went back to his dorm when he received a message from one of the seniors that they will be having another discussion tomorrow. Aether did not want to go thinking that there will be another argument but he did not want to be rude so he decided to go.
"We will be hosting the cafe, without telling the leader" The seniors explained how they were going to have their discussion and preparation done here every Thursday to prepare and decorate the place a bit without the club leader knowing. "We will begin preparation next week! "
The following week, the club leader did not suspect anything and the remaining members continued to prepare and try out the outfits. During one of the outfit changing, Aether was helping to decorate the place a bit when one of the girls grabbed him by the arm and forced him into the changing room
"Where did Aether go? " Xiao asked another member
"I thought he was helping with the decorations"
Xiao was about to look for him when he heard his voice "Can I not wear this?! It's embarrassing and I not even a girl! "
The girls did not listen and pushed Aether out of the changing room.
Aether was wearing a light blue coloured dress with his hair down. The members did not recognize him at first but after Aether explained who he was the were shocked.
Aether was trying to find a place to hide from the number of people staring at him. His entire face was red from embarrassment
"Xiao! What happened to you?! Why is your nose bleeding?! "
Aether turned to look at their direction and Xiao was taking a lot of tissue to stop the bleed.
"I'm fine.. " Xiao replied while covering his face.
"How is this fine?!" the club member was helping Xiao when someone appeared
"Hm? Xiao what happened to you? " Zhongli had arrived with Childe
"Good afternoon, Mr Zhongli" Xiao bowed down
"Oi stop moving around with a bleeding nose! "
Zhongli sighed and offered to help Xiao, while Zhongli was busy Childe noticed Aether and walked up to him
"I did not know that the club had another girl? What's your name? "
"Childe, it's me Aether-" Childe was silent before saying "Aether! Of course I recognized you, I was just joking around.... "
Aether felt his entire pride as a boy had left him so he immediately ran back to the changing room
Xiao's nose bleed stopped after a while. "So what happened, why did your nose started bleeding?" Zhongli asked
Aether wearing the blue dress suddenly popped up in his head "N-nothing...." Xiao's face was a bit red "Why did he have to look so cute" Xiao thought
The day of the festival arrived. While the club was preparing, the senior ran into the club room "Do we have extra people willing to help with something?!" Aether was done with his task so he offered to help
"Xiao your helping as well" the senior dragged the both of them to the corridor
"Would the both of you mind advertising us later during the festival , you don't have to do much just get people to come to our cafe"
The senior sighed and explained that the two people meant to help out suddenly could not come so he had to ask for people to replace them
"Sure" Aether agreed and so did Xiao
The senior heaved a sigh of relief "Great! Xiao you can wear the suit and Aether wear the dress"
"Su- HUH?! WHY?!"
"Well the dress fits you quite nicely"
Aether was about to reject the offer but the senior begged him not to in the end Aether agreed to not back out.
Xiao got out of the dressing room. He had half of his hair slicked back and was wearing a black suit with a tie and a green rose tucked in the front pocket of his jacket. "How is it?" The girls were practically drooling at the sight
Aether was not willing to go out but after much persuasion he got out of the dressing room. Aether was wearing a light blue dress with a bow tied on his hair. (Just imagine thr Alice in Wonderland dress -w-)
The festival finally started and Xiao and Aether were sent to get people to come to their cafe
The girls asked Aether to wear a small platform shoe to match with the outfit. It was hard to walk properly so Aether tripped while they were walking . Xiao immediately grabbed Aether by the waist to steady him "You ok?" "Yes-"
"Such a cute couple" someone replied
Aether heard them and started blushing "L-lets go"
After awhile of walking Aether spotted the Science club and wondered if Albedo was there
"Xiao, the science club is also having a cafe! Let's check it out"
"Mhm" Xiao follwed Aether and saw Albedo serving drinks to people "Albedo!" Aether called out to his friend , Albedo heard Aether and walked towards him. Albedo was also wearing a waiters outfit (imagine his cafe outfit) at first Albedo wondered who the girl was till he recognized him as Aether because of Xiao glaring at him from afar
"How is your cafe?" Aether asked
"It's doing great actually but why are you wearing that?"
Aether explained the whole thing, "Albedo! " Albedo's entire face changed, he looked a bit annoyed as a distressed Kaeya came running at their direction "You said you would help with my homework so that I can attend the festival but you did not show up yesterday"
"Oh really, I must have forgotten" Albedo looked at Kaeya and smiled at him "I have to go now, bye Aether " Albedo waved goodbye and Kaeya followed him "Albedooo" Kaeya whined as Albedo completely ignored him
"Should we go back now?" Aether asked
"Mhm"
The both of them walked in silence, Aether did not know what to say he came up with a random question and Xiao answered "I guess"
'Good job Aether, you just made fool of yourself " he thought to himself
"What's your answer to my question" Xiao suddenly asked
"Huh? Did you ask a question?"
Xiao stopped and looked at Aether "I confessed to you the other day and was hoping for a reply...."
Aether had completely forgotten about the confession because of the festival
"Um...." Aether was silent for awhile
Xiao felt his heart arche by each passing second "....It's ok if you say no, but I hope we could still remain as-" Xiao did not finish his sentence when Aether kissed him on the cheek
"T-there. That's my reply. Just make sure not to tell anyone about us only to close friends since I do not want it to become public yet" Aether was blushing as he spoke but he did not wait for Xiao's reaction and just ran off
Xiao stood in the empty corridor wondering if he had just imagined that
"Sorry about Aether!" A voice startled Xiao
He turned and saw two boys he always see with Aether "If you and Aether started dating it would be great and we would support the both of you" Kazuha said
"But" Venti got closer to Xiao, and said in a low voice "break his heart and we would do something, ok?" Venti had his normal happy tone again
"It's fine. I won't do anything like that" Xiao replied
Kazuha smiled at him "Good to hear"
