Ezra POV
"Okay Ava, next question is for you. 'What is your biggest pet peeve?'" Hallen asked.
"Well it is...." Ava said.
I honestly wasn't really paying much attention.
Maudie's previous words echoed through my head.
'I admit that I USED TO have a crush on him..... for about 6 months.'
She used to...

How was i so blind not to see it?
"Ezra." someone whispered.
"Huh what-" I said rather loudly as i looked around.
Maudie covered my mouth.
"It's just me, you were blacking out again." Maudie whispered.
She took her hand off my mouth
"Oh, sorry." I said.
"You don't have to say sorry all the time y'know." Maudie whispered.
"Right sorry." I said.
Maudie slapped her hand on her forehead.
"Okay Ezra, Its your turn once again. 'Would you rather date Maudie or Ava and why?'" Hallen said.
"What's up with these questions?" I asked.
"I don't know. But believe me I'm not complaining, this is very entertaining." Hallen smiled.
"Fine, I pick Maudie." I said as i looked down.
"Why?" Hallen asked.
"Its the same reason as Maudie." I said.
"So you used to like Maudie too?" Hallen asked.
"NO I DON'T MEAN THAT, ITS JUST-" I said.
"Too late! You said what you said." Hallen said.
Everyone, including Maudie, laughed and clapped.
I looked down in shame.
"I'm sorry for laughing Ez. Your reaction was just priceless." Maudie said as she placed her hand on my shoulder.
I laughed nervously.
"Anyways what is your 'Real' reason?" Hallen said.
"We just have more in common I guess. Plus Kyle would kill me if I made a move on Ava." I said.
"Oh, I'm about to kill you now." Kyle joked.
Hopefully he's just joking.
The audience laughed.
"Lets end this Q & A with Kyle. 'What is your favorite sport?'" Hallen asked.
"Football. Easy." Kyle said.
"Cool. Now that we are done with this segment, let's move on with the next thing on our agenda. Follow me." Hallen said.
Hallen stood up and we did the same
She started leading us to the small section of the stage.
Suddenly she stopped and we stopped too.
There was a black tarp on the floor.
Two box like figures was hidden underneath it.
"Okay so we will be doing a challenge." Hallen said.
"First we need to split you for into teams of two." Hallen said.
"I call Ava!" Kyle said.
The audience gushed.
"What? We work well together." Kyle said.
"Sure Ky." Ava said.
"I guess I'm with Ezra." Maudie smiled.
I smiled back.
Hallen removed the black tarp.
There was two sets of 50 piece jigsaw puzzles on the floor
"For the challenge you have to solve a jigsaw puzzle." Hallen said.
"Oh no.." Kyle said.
"YES!" I said.
Maudie and I have the upper hand.
We love solving jigsaw puzzles together.
"Looks like were doomed." Kyle said.
"Never say never, Kyle." Ava said as she placed her hand on his shoulder.
"You guys are adorable." Hallen said.
Ava immediately removed her hand from Kyle's shoulder.
"Anyways, lets start. Contestants pick your sets." Hallen said.
"Since this is going to be easy for the two of you, mind if we pick the set we want?" Kyle asked.
"Sure." I smiled.
There's no way they can beat us.
Both these puzzle sets look way too easy.
One was a puzzle of an ice castle and the other was a puzzle of a garden.
Kyle and Ava squatted down and started looking through the puzzle sets.
They were quietly discussing their decision.
After a minute they stood up.
"We pick this one." Kyle said pointing to the garden puzzle set.
"Great, now get ready and sit in front of your puzzle sets." Hallen said.
Maudie and I sat in front of our Ice castle jigsaw puzzle.
Ava and Kyle did the same with their garden puzzle.
Hallen kneeled down in the middle to watch all the upcoming action.
"Okay, rules are simple. You have 5 minutes to solve your puzzle. No cheating (obviously) and don't forget to have fun." Hallen said.
The four of us cheered.
"Okay Audience, who do you think will win? Team Kyva or Mauzra?" Hallen said.
"MAUZRA!!!" The whole audience shouted.
Even the audience knows were going to win this.
"That's sad." Ava joked.
"No offence team Kyva, but i also think team Mauzra is going to win." Hallen said.
"Not going to lie. I agree." Kyle said.
"Well, we can't give up." Ava said.
Kyle nodded.
"Lets get started. 3, 2, 1, GO!" Hallen said.
The puzzle sets were still quite new.
We ripped off the plastic wrap and carefully opened the box.
We dumped the pieces out.
"I'll do the middle parts, you do the edges." Maudie said.
I nodded.
Then we started getting busy.
I saw a piece that looked like it belonged with the edges.
I grabbed it but i felt a finger touch mine.
I was so surprised.
I quickly pulled my hand away.
Maudie grabbed the puzzle piece that i wanted to take.
"I'm pretty sure this is one of the middle pieces, not the edges." Maudie said.
"Y-yeah." I said.
I somehow couldn't focus anymore.
I don't get it.
We have held hands before.
But why does slight skin contact with Maudie make me feel so nervous?...
No Ezra, Focus.
Beat Kyle's butt.
"Ez, i already picked out all the middle pieces. The rest of those puzzles must be the edges." Maudie said.
I nodded and swiped the remaining pieces.
I quickly pieced them together.
"I'm done. How about you?" Maudie asked.
"Almost..." I said as I tried figuring out where to put the last piece.
"Here." Maudie said as she grabbed my hand.
She made my hand place the last piece in an empty puzzle slot
"There." Maudie smiled as she looked at me.
It was silent as we looked at each other.
With both her hands on one of mine.
