Chapter 206

Outside of the hospital room, Tang Hao could hear the voice of a woman speaking within.

“Mrs. Li, this marriage… I think it’s a little hard to proceed. I’m sure you’ll also understand. Now that you’re sick, it’s not an appropriate time to hold the wedding.”

The voice was from a middle-aged woman, but she was not Auntie Zhang.

“Bin is an outstanding young man and I like him a lot, but I don’t think they’re a good match for each other.”

In the hospital room, a middle-aged woman was talking to Auntie Zhang on the bed and Uncle Li sitting by her side.

Behind him was a young woman in her mid-twenties.

Standing next to Uncle Li was a thin young man. Like Uncle Li, he wore glasses and looked rather bookish.

Uncle Li and his family were shocked, then became angry.

They knew what the woman was trying to imply.

She was going to call off the marriage!

‘Not a good match’ was only a lame excuse.

The development of their relationship had been smooth-sailing, from the point they met up until the marriage proposal. It was impossible that they were not a good match all of a sudden.

She implied that she was afraid that Auntie Zhang’s illness might drain the Li family of their finances.

It all boiled down to money!

Before Auntie Zhang’s illness, Uncle Li had savings of several hundred thousand yuan, and his family was considered middle-upper class. Treating Auntie Zhang’s disease cost them about a hundred thousand yuan every month. A potential kidney transplant would cost them even more money.

The ordeal would have emptied the family’s savings.

Next to the bed, Uncle Li’s face was ashen and his fists were clenched.

Anger filled his heart. Calling off the marriage was utter humiliation!

However, he was helpless. As an adult, he understood the reasons behind it.

That was the cold, harsh reality of the world he lived in!

Behind him, his son Li Bin’s face was also ashen out of anger. He glared angrily at the young woman across the bed and asked her, “Is this what you want, Xiaoyan?”

Zhang Xiaoyan lowered her head and avoided his gaze.

“Of course, this is what she wants! She’s too embarrassed to tell you, so I’m speaking on her behalf. Don’t be angry, Bin, it’s very normal to find that your significant other is not a good match. It’s better to break off a relationship at this point, rather than to force the marriage and lead to future unhappiness.

“I only have one daughter, and I hope to see her happy!”

“Happy?” Li Bin laughed coldly. “You’re just afraid that my family doesn’t have money. We’re already engaged, and we’re about to get married. Now that you’re calling off the marriage, what would other people think of my parents?”

Mrs. Zhang’s expression stiffened and became rather unpleasant.

“How dare you speak like that to me, you insolent child? I’ve already said what she wants to tell you. What else should I do?” Mrs. Zhang’s expression became cold and her tone of voice became harsh.

“I don’t wish for the situation to turn out this way either! Treating the illness will cost your family all your money. Will you be suitable for marriage by then? Can you still afford to buy a house?

“If you can’t afford a house or a car, do you deserve my daughter’s love? I don’t want my daughter to suffer.”

On the hospital bed, Auntie Zhang closed her eyes in emotional agony.

“That’s enough! Shut up! Couldn’t you have found a better time and place to break the news?” Uncle Li stood from his seat and roared.

Mrs. Zhang also became angry. “I need to settle this matter today! At least our families are now free from this obligation.”

“Hmph! Free from this obligation? Are we that pathetic in your eyes?” Li Bin said angrily.

“That’s all I want to say. We’ll be calling off the wedding, regardless of whether you agree to it. I’ll return all the betrothal gifts another day.”

“You…” Li Bin was livid. He looked at Zhang Xiaoyan and said, “How can you be so cruel, Xiaoyan?”

“What do you mean by cruel? You ought to give up, Li Bin! I won’t allow my daughter to marry you!” Mrs. Zhang shrieked.

Li Bin’s face was ashen and his entire body trembled.

“Just let them be, my son. If they want to call off the wedding, then they can have it their way. You can always find another significant other. We’re lucky that they showed their true colors here. I wouldn’t want to be related to such a materialistic family,” Uncle Li said.

  “Isn’t that so!”

Suddenly, the door to the hospital room opened and a boy walked in.

He turned around and glanced at Zhang Xiaoyan. ” Big Bro Bin, what’s so good about this selfish and materialistic woman? Marrying her would be your misfortune!”

The people in the room were shocked.

“You are…?” Li Bin regarded the boy with confusion.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Zhang’s face dropped completely. She shrieked angrily, “Who the hell are you? You’re just a filthy kid. It’s not your turn to speak!”

Uncle Li glanced at the boy and was shocked. “Lil Tang? Why are you here?” He exclaimed.

Li Bin remembered who the boy was after his father called the boy “Lil Tang”. He regarded Tang Hao curiously.

“Uncle Li!’ Tang Hao said, “I went to the delivery center but I heard that you were at the hospital. So I came to look for you.”

Uncle Li smiled and said rather ashamedly, “I’m sorry that you see us in such a dishonorable state!

“Right! How have you been lately?” Uncle Li asked.

“Not bad!” Tang Hao said. Then, he greeted Auntie Zhang on the bed.

“Just forget about her, Big Bro Bin. I can introduce you to another girl who’s definitely better than her,” Tang Hao told Chen Bin.

Mrs. Zhang smirked when she heard that. “Hah, you talk big for a young kid! Better than my daughter? She’s kind, conscientious, and diligent. I wonder how many girls out there are better than her!

“Furthermore, even if you introduce another woman to her, would she want to stoop so low to marry into a broke family?

“Let me tell you. Marriages are all about money now. You can dream of marrying a wife if you don’t have money.”

“Who says that they don’t have money?” Tang Hao said coldly.

“They might have some money now, but do you have any idea how much would it cost to treat uremia? They’ll spend more than a hundred thousand yuan a year. That’ll be a few hundred thousand for the next few years. Would they still have any money after that?” Mrs. Zhang mocked.

Uncle Li and his family displayed expressions of agony when they heard that.

Tang Hao chuckled. “Who says that it’ll cost a lot of money to treat uremia? I say, this disease is incredibly easy to treat. She’ll be walking again in a few days!”

Mrs. Zhang was stunned. She was wondering if she had misheard.

  ‘This kid must be insane!’

It was uremia they were talking about! The only cure for it was a kidney transplant. The patient would still need to take medicine worth about a hundred thousand yuan every year after treatment.

She was not the only one who was surprised. Even Uncle Li was surprised too.

“Lil Tang, this disease is incredibly difficult to treat,” Uncle Li said.

“It’s just uremia, right? I’ve heard of it, and I know how to treat it,” Tang Hao said calmly.

Everyone was shocked when they heard that.

Even Uncle Li thought that Lil Tang was lying.

He knew that Tang Hao was expelled from high school, and he had never heard Tang Hao mention that he studied medicine. How could he possibly make such a claim?

Chapter 207

After coming to her senses, Mrs. Zhang started laughing mockingly.

“That’s utter nonsense! Did you escape from some mental asylum? What makes you think that you can cure the illness? Do you think that you’re a child prodigy, or do you just have a wild imagination?”

Behind Mrs. Zhang, Zhang Xiaoyan was also looking at Tang Hao as she would look at a lunatic.

Li Bin and Auntie Zhang did not know how to react.

Both of them knew Tang Hao to be an honest and down-to-earth person. Why would he be boasting and lying?

“Are you OK, Lil Tang?” Li Bin asked out of concern.

Tang Hao broke into laughter when he saw their faces.

He would not have expected them to believe his claims anyway.

“You can get the doctors here if you don’t believe me. They know who I am!” Tang Hao said.

“Ha! The doctors would definitely know that you’re a lunatic!” Mrs. Zhang mocked.

She got up and pressed the beeper, then returned to her seat and looked mockingly at Tang Hao.

Tang Hao was a total lunatic in her eyes. Which sane person in this world would claim that they could cure uremia in a matter of days?

If he was not a lunatic, then he must be a con artist!

Soon. the door to the hospital room opened and a doctor in a white coat came in.

“Doctor, there’s a lunatic here! You’d better examine his head or even lock him up. I don’t feel safe when he’s in the room!” Mrs. Zhang grumbled as she pointed at Tang Hao.

The doctor was shocked. “Lunatic? Where did the lunatic come from?”

He then turned around and looked toward where Mrs. Zhang was pointing.

He discerned clearly who the person was, then his entire body stiffened in extreme surprise.

“That’s him! He’s the lunatic! He’s a very boastful one. He claims that he can cure uremia! Does he think that he’s a divine doctor?” Mrs. Zhang shrieked.

  “That’s ridiculous! Isn’t he a lunatic?”

Her face displayed an expression of utter mockery.

However, what happened next caused her to be utterly dumbfounded.

The doctor suddenly smiled and greeted the person. “Divine Doctor Tang!’

Then, he walked toward him and eagerly shook his hands.

The doctor looked like he had seen an old friend. He even looked as though he admired the kid.

A doctor calling a teenager Divine Doctor?

That… That was the most ridiculous thing in the world!

She was not the only one who was dumbstruck. Even Uncle Li, Auntie Zhang, and Li Bin did not know what was going on.

Lil Tang dropped out of high school and was a delivery boy until three and a half months ago. How would he suddenly be a divine doctor?

‘Wait… Don’t tell me Lil Tang quit his job to become a con artist?’ Uncle Li thought about that and his expression changed.

He did not believe that in the few months since Tang Hao quit his job, he picked up medical skills and knew how to cure diseases. The only explanation was that he became an incredible con artist that could even fool the doctors in the hospital!

“Lil Tang, don’t tell me that you’ve become a con artist now?” Uncle Li said sternly.

Tang Hao broke into laughter when he heard that.

The doctor also laughed. “I’m afraid that you are mistaken, Sir. He’s not a con artist at all. He’s a true divine doctor. All the doctors in the hospital think so, too!”

Uncle Li was shocked when he heard that. He was not sure if he should believe the doctor’s claim.

  It was too ridiculous!

The doctor turned and looked at Auntie Zhang on the bed. He even looked happy. “Are you going to cure this patient’s illness, Doctor Tang?”

   Tang Hao nodded.

The doctor became even more excited. “How are you going to cure her?”

“This is easier than last time. I’ll use acupuncture followed by medication. She’ll be cured in a few days!” Tang Hao said.

“Acupuncture? That’s not very scientific, but I trust in your methods, Divine Doctor Tang!” The doctor said passionately. “Wait for me here. I’ll get the Hospital Director and the others to come.”

Then, the doctor dashed out of the room.

The people who remained in the room were stunned and did not come to their senses for a long while.

They felt as though they were in a dream.

‘Don’t tell me… this boy is actually a divine doctor? Why doesn’t he look like one?’

“Lil Tang, you…” Uncle Li said, still in a daze.

“Don’t worry, Uncle Li. I can cure Auntie Zhang’s disease! You’ve helped me during my most difficult times and gave me a job. I’ll be repaying my debt of gratitude to you today,” Tang Hao said.

Uncle Li’s jaw dropped and could not say anything.

Soon, footsteps were heard from the corridor outside. It sounded like a very large group of people.

A group of doctors in their white coats flooded into the room. All of them wore excited expressions on their faces.

“Divine Doctor Tang is here again!”

“If Divine Doctor Tang is here, that means the patient is saved!”

The group of doctors chatted and discussed among themselves, while some of them came over to shake hands with Tang Hao.

The people in the room were once again wide-eyed and slack-jawed when they saw the scene.

They were forced to admit that what Tang Hao said was true. He would not have been able to deceive so many doctors at once.

Mrs. Zhang, standing aside, felt ashamed of herself.

She had laughed at the boy and said that he was a lunatic. Who knew that he was a true divine doctor!

From what the doctors said, it seemed that there was a high chance of curing the disease. If that were the case, the Li family would have saved a lot of money.

She began to regret her decision earlier.

“Mr. Li, Divine Doctor Tang has amazing medical skills. With his help, I can say that your wife’s illness is all but cured. I would highly recommend that you allow him to treat your wife,” the hospital director told Uncle Li.

“Well… Alright then, I’ll let him try it!” Uncle Li said.

“I agree with it too. I trust Lil Tang,” Auntie Zhang said.

“Do you need anything, Lil Tang?” The hospital director asked Tang Hao.

“I need two nurses. That’s all,” Tang Hao replied.

“Alright! Let’s go outside and wait!”

The group of doctors went out of the room.

“It’s up to you, Lil Tang!” Uncle Li said as he firmly shook Tang Hao’s hands.

“Don’t worry!” Tang Hao said with a smile.

Everyone else left the room while two nurses came in.

Tang Hao walked toward the bed and retrieved his set of golden needles. “Don’t be nervous, Auntie Zhang. It’s just acupuncture. It won’t hurt a bit.”

Then, he instructed the nurses to lift Auntie Zhang’s shirt, exposing her abdomen.

Uremia was caused by declining kidney function. At that stage, one’s kidneys had already failed, and modern medical technology could not save them. The only possible cure was a kidney transplant.

However, Tang Hao had a way.

If the kidneys had failed, he only had to revive them.

He would stimulate the meridian points in her body, then channel qi into her body to revitalize the kidneys.

Acupuncture alone would not cure her uremia. He would also need to provide her with medicine to nourish the kidneys.

Chapter 208

The atmosphere in the hospital room was tense.

Tang Hao stood in front of the bed. He gently picked up a golden needle and pierced Auntie Zhang’s abdomen with it.

Each golden needle pierced a meridian point. He gently spun each needle and channeled the qi in his body in Auntie Zhang’s body, which stimulated the meridian points and gradually repaired her kidneys.

Auntie Zhang’s kidneys were seriously damaged. Repairing them required a very long amount of time.

Tang Hao repeatedly twisted the golden needles and channeled qi through them.

Three hours later, the first signs of recovery were observed. He completed the procedure another hour later.

Auntie Zhang’s kidneys had recovered certain functions and were working again.

That was the most crucial step in the procedure. With the kidneys’ functions restored, the illness was all but cured. Modern medical technology could bring her kidneys back up to normal working condition.

With Tang Hao’s medicine, Auntie Zhang could recover even faster.

“Phew! I’m done!” Tang Hao breathed a sigh of relief after removing the golden needles.

“How do you feel now, Auntie Zhang?”

Auntie Zhang looked incredulous. “How did you do that, Lil Tang? My body feels especially energetic now.”

“That’s how it should be! I’ll send over some medicine tomorrow. You’ll be fully cured in a few days!”

After that, Tang Hao opened the door and went out.

“How is it, Divine Doctor Tang?” The doctors crowded around him and looked at him with anticipation.

“There’s no problem!” Tang Hao said with a smile, “You can examine her body.”

Uncle Li and Li Bin breathed a sigh of relief when they heard that. They were finally at ease.

“Go, go! Let’s check up on her!” The doctors rushed into the room.

Tang Hao walked toward Uncle Li. “The procedure went fine, Uncle Li. I’ll bring some medicine tomorrow. Auntie Zhang will be cured in a few days!”

Tears of gratitude welled up in Uncle Li’s eyes. He gripped Tang Hao’s hands tightly and said, “Thank you so much, Lil Tang!”

“Don’t mention it! I should be the one thanking you!” Tang Hao said with a smile.

“How much does it cost, Lil Tang?” Uncle Li asked.

“There’s no need for money!” Tang Hao shook his head urgently. “Didn’t I say that I’m repaying my debt of gratitude to you? I don’t want a cent from you! Furthermore, I’m not short of money now.”

Uncle Li hesitated for a while and accepted the offer.

“Lil Tang, you’re now…” After a while, Uncle Li asked somewhat curiously.

Tang Hao smiled. “I picked up some medical skills from an expert. I guess I’m considered half a doctor now!”

“Oh!” Uncle Li exclaimed in surprise. “You’re quite the accomplished young man, Lil Tang!”

Zhang Xiaoyan and Mrs. Zhang felt extremely regretful as they watched all that happen.

Now that Auntie Zhang was cured, the Li family did not have to spend their money on her treatment, which meant that they were still rich. Li Bin was a good boy with many positive characteristics and would have been the perfect husband for Zhang Xiaoyan.

Once news got out, the Zhang family would be disgraced.

“Well… Bin, how about if we… think through this a little more thoroughly? See, my Xiaoyan still likes you…” Mrs. Zhang said.

Li Bin smirked coldly. “That’s a very quick turnabout! You said earlier that we’re not a good match. Now that my mother is cured, we’re a good match again?

“Since you said that we’re not a good match, then it’s better that we break up. Remember to return the bridal gifts to us.”

Mrs. Zhang was shocked. “Why must you trouble yourself, Bin? Don’t you like Xiaoyan?”

“Not anymore!” Li Bin said coldly.

“Don’t worry, Brother Bin, I can introduce another woman to you. I have many beautiful single ladies in my company,” Tang Hao said.

“Your company?” Uncle Li was shocked.

“Oh! I started a company selling healthcare products,” Tang Hao said.

Uncle Li became very excited upon hearing that. “You’re so amazing now, Lil Tang! When you quit your job back then, I didn’t expect that you’d be accomplishing so many things in such a short time.”

Mrs. Zhang heard that and became even more regretful.

She wanted to say something, hesitated, then turned around and left the scene defeatedly.

The next day, Tang Hao delivered the medicine as promised.

Auntie Zhang would be fully cured in three or four days after taking the medicine.

As for Li Bin, Tang Hao introduced him to several single women in his company. It would be up to Li Bin if he could score himself a new girlfriend.

Li Bin was a fine young man. It would not be difficult for him to find a girlfriend.

Two days later, Tang Hao received a phone call from Vice Governor He.

“Lil Bro Tang! I’ve procured a spot for you at Z University. However, I need some personal information from you, and you’ll need to go to your high school to settle some paperwork.”

  “Alright!” Tang Hao replied.

They chatted for a while more before Tang Hao ended the call.

“I’ll have to go back to First High! Right, I ought to visit Yan’er. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen her. I wonder how she is now?” Tang Hao mumbled.

He gave a call to Yan’er after that.

Phones were not allowed during school hours. It was already in the afternoon, so there should be no problem.

The phone call was answered a while later.

Yan’er’s chirpy voice was heard from the other end of the phone.

  “Hello! Brother Hao!”

Tang Hao was reminded of Shi Yan’er pure and cute face when he heard her voice.

Yan’er beautiful was unique from Sis Xiangyi or Assistant Han. She was still young and looked pure. Her innocent smile had mysterious healing powers.

“What are you doing now, Yan’er?” Tang Hao said.

“I just had lunch, and I’m taking a walk! You haven’t called me for a long time, Brother Hao. Is there anything?” Yan’er said excitedly.

“I’ll be going to First High soon to settle some paperwork. I’d like to meet you since I’m there!” Tang Hao said.

“Really?” Yan’er exclaimed. She sounded incredibly excited.

“Yup! I’ll be there in a while. I’m just letting you know,” Tang Hao said.

“Alright! Call me when you’re here.”

  “Sure!”

After he ended the call, Tang Hao rode in his car and drove to First High.

Tang Hao parked the car at the entrance of First High and went into the school compound.

  He gave Yan’er a call.

“I’m still in the dorm, Brother Hao. You’ll have to wait for a while longer,” Yan’er said apologetically.

Tang Hao was surprised, then understood that she went back to the dorm to change her clothes.

He smiled. “Alright! I’ll be waiting for you right outside your dorm.”

He ended the call, then walked toward the female dormitory. Then, he leaned against a tree and waited.

About three minutes later, a beautiful figure emerged from within the dormitory building.

She wore a black pleated skirt. Under the exquisite and delicate folds of the skirt was a pair of long, slender, and fair legs.

Her body was tall and curvy, and her long hair bobbed like flowing water when she walked.

The most attractive aspect of all was her pure face. Her eyes were bright, her teeth were flawless, and her eyebrows looked like brush strokes. Her beauty was breathtaking.

Chapter 209

The beautiful figure slowly walked out of the building.

Her jet-black hair bobbed like flowing water and the hem of her skirt fluttered in the wind. Her beauty was breathtaking.

The other female students who were passing by were stunned by her appearance. Their faces displayed expressions of admiration or envy.

“Isn’t that Shi Yan’er? She’s usually in her school clothes. Why did she dress up today?” Some of the female students mumbled.

Everyone in First High knew who the pure beauty queen was.

Yan’er stepped out of the entrance of the dormitory building. She looked around and saw the familiar figure standing under a tree. Her beautiful eyes sparkled.

She quickly walked over. A charming smile appeared on her face.

“Brother Hao!” She greeted Tang Hao with a sweet voice when she came over.

The female students all around were shocked when they heard that.

  “Who’s that guy?”

Gossip started to spread among the girls like wildfire.

Their eyes were focused on the somewhat handsome boy in a white button-down shirt standing under the tree.

  “I don’t think I’ve seen him before!”

The female students whispered among each other.

Suddenly, someone shouted excitedly. “That’s him! The beauty queen’s boyfriend!”

The surroundings went silent for a while, then everyone exclaimed in surprise.

The girls heard about the gossip that the beauty queen had a boyfriend who was a legend in First High.

The rumor was that the beauty queen’s boyfriend knew kung fu, and was an incredibly powerful martial artist. He had defeated a group of boys on Registration day.

In the beginning, the rumor was that he defeated tens of boys. The rumors became more ridiculous as it evolved into different versions, though each one of them involved him defeating hundreds of boys.

The beauty queen’s boyfriend had become a legendary figure like Dugu Qiubai. (TN: Dugu Qiubai is a legendary swordsman in Louis Cha’s wuxia novels. His name literally means “seeking defeat”.)

Another legendary feat by the beauty queen’s boyfriend was to dethrone the previous dean of students.

In many students’ eyes, he was a hero.

Some of the female students shrieked. Their gazes upon Tang Hao were passionate.

Tang Hao was confused when he saw that.

  “What’s going on?” He muttered.

Yan’er smiled coyly. “You’re a popular figure now, Brother hao! Don’t you know that you’re a legend in many students’ eyes?”

Tang Hao scratched his head and was at a loss for a reply. He knew that it was because of the incident during Registration Day.

“Alright, let’s go!” Yan’er walked in front, though she turned around occasionally to steal glances at Tang Hao.

“What business do you have in school today, Brother Hao?” Yan’er asked.

“Oh, I just need to settle some paperwork here before I go to college,” Tang Hao replied.

Yan’er was surprised. “You’re going to college?”

Tang Hao nodded. “I have some connections in Provincial City. He got me a spot at Z University.”

Yan’er mouth became slightly agape and her face displayed a look of incredulity.

Z University was the top college in the province and one of the top universities in the country. Many third-year high school students], including Shi Yan’er, dreamed of going there.

“Congratulations, Brother Hao!” Yan’er said with a bright smile.

She was truly happy for Tang Hao.

Then, she continued, “I’ll have to do my best so that I can enter Z University too.”

“How are your studies now? Can you cope?” Tang Hao asked.

“Of course I can. I got twelfth place in the midterms,” Yan’er raised her head and said proudly.

“That’s amazing!” Tang Hao was surprised.

First High had more than a thousand students. It was a great achievement to obtain twelfth place.

As they continued walking, many students crowded around them to see.

They walked around the school once, and it was soon time for classes. Tang Hao sent Yan’er to her classroom, then went to the administration building to look for Principal Cai.

“Long time no see, Lil Bro Tang!”

Principal Cai shook hands eagerly with Tang Hao when they met.

They exchanged some pleasantries, then they sat down and Tang Hao explained what happened.

Principal Cai was secretly shocked. The person who managed to procure a spot for Tang Hao in Z University must wield a lot of authority. There were not many people in the entire Province Z that could do that.

He thought for a while and said, “The paperwork is no big deal. I can help you with that.

“Right, I’ve heard from Ol’ Li that your company is doing very well!”

“It’s not bad!” Tang Hao said.

Principal Cai laughed heartily. “You’re too humble! You’re still young, yet you’ve accomplished so much. You can be an honorary alumnus. Right, are you interested?”

“Honorary alumnus?” Tang Hao was surprised. He had never considered that before.

He knew about honorary alumni from back when he was studying in First High, though they were all middle-aged people or at least thirty years old.

He was only eighteen years old!

“I think I’m too young for that?” Tang Hao hesitated.

“Age isn’t a problem. In fact, it’s better that you’re young so that your achievements are emphasized. You can be the role model for your juniors.”

  “Well…” Tang Hao felt embarrassed.

Principal Cai seemed to be planning to publicize his deeds.

He had seen it happen to other people while he was a student, but he did not expect that his turn would come so soon.

“Eh, you don’t need to be shy! The students should know about the good deeds of an accomplished youth like you. You’re the pride of First High!” Principal Cai said with a smile.

“Well… alright then!” Tang Hao finally agreed.

  “OK, that settled it!”

Tang Hao felt emotional. More than a year ago, he was expelled from school and his reputation was ruined. Now, he was back and became an honorary alumnus. The situation then and now was like comparing heaven and earth.

An honorary alumnus was a prestigious title. That would increase his good reputation.

Tang Hao had to give back something to repay Principal Cai’s goodwill.

“Principal Cai, First High is my alma mater. Now that I have some money, I think I ought to repay my debt of gratitude. I’d like to donate some money to improve the conditions of the school so that my juniors can enjoy a better study environment.”

Principal Cai was shocked, then he smiled widely. “Alright! Thank you on behalf of all the students of First High!”

“I’ll donate five million yuan! Is that enough?” Tang Hao said.

“That’s enough!” Principal Cai could not close his mouth from smiling. “This is a momentous event. We’ll hold a donation ceremony another day. Don’t worry, every cent of your donation will go toward improving the school’s infrastructure.”

They chatted for a while more before going to the office to settle the paperwork.

The paperwork was settled very quickly, thanks to Principal Cai’s assistance.

Then, Tang Hao sent the documents over to Provincial City.

Two days later, Tang Hao received a call from Vice Governor He. The enrollment procedure was complete, and he was a student of Z University with immediate effect.

Chapter 210

A boy wearing jeans, a white button-down shirt, and a backpack appeared at the main entrance of Z University that morning. There was nothing about him that stood out.

Standing at the entrance, a smile appeared on his face as he looked toward the university grounds.

He had dreamed of going to college for a long time.

He walked in while looking at his class schedule of the day.

He had two classes in the morning. The first three periods were microeconomics, and the next two were English.

Tang Hao was enrolled in the Faculty of Economics.

He had a good memory and any humanities subject was a piece of cake for him. Furthermore, the knowledge he would obtain in his studies of economics would help in the management of his company.

He asked around and eventually found his classroom.

  “Number 308. This is it!”

Tang Hao walked up to the door and peered inside. Many students were sitting inside the classroom. Some of them were reading while eating breakfast.

Tang Hao hesitated for a while, then went in through the backdoor.

Some people turned around to look at him as he stepped into the classroom. They furrowed their eyebrows.

“Hey, pal, I think you’ve got the wrong class! This is Number 308,” a girl shouted at him.

Tang Hao smiled and replied, “I’m at the right place. I’m here for classes.”

Then, he found a seat in the back row and sat down.

  The girl was incredibly confused.

“What’s going on? Who is he? Why is he in this class?”

“Is he a repeat student? Why haven’t we heard of him?”

The students discussed among themselves while stealing glances at Tang Hao.

“I guess that he might be an observer!” Someone suggested.

“That sounds about right!” Some other people agreed with that person.

Their gaze toward Tang Hao became mocking, and some of the girls were even looking at him with contempt.

Tang Hao felt a little uneasy.

‘Even if I’m an observer, that isn’t the way to treat someone new in the class!’

Tang Hao grumbled under his breath but thought nothing further of it.

Suddenly, someone in the front of the classroom stood up and walked toward Tang Hao. He was a tall and thin male student. He wore a pair of glasses and had average looks.

That male student narrowed his eyes and looked doubtfully at Tang Hao.

He thought that Tang Hao somehow looked familiar, but he could not recognize who he was.

Tang Hao lifted his head. He was surprised to see the person standing in front of him.

He knew that boy. Back in First High, he was in the class next door. He was a [high-achiever] named Cao Fei.

  “You are…”

Cao Fei inspected Tang Hao, then exclaimed shortly after. “Ah! Weren’t you from the next class?”

Then, he displayed a look of incredulity on his face.

If he remembered correctly, Tang Hao was expelled from First High for fighting. That meant that he did not graduate from high school, so how did he suddenly appear in Z University?

Cao Fei furrowed his brows and his eyes flashed with condescension.

To a high-achiever like him, a student expelled for fighting was no different from a hooligan.

Furthermore, he was currently a student at Z University. He felt superior toward someone who did not graduate high school.

He thought that Tang Hao must be at Z University on a visit.

“Do you know him, Cao Fei?” The students next to him asked, “Who is he?”

Cao Fei glanced at Tang Hao and said nonchalantly, “We’re from the same area, and he used to be in the class next door in high school. However, he’s not a student of Z University. He didn’t even graduate high school!”

“What?” Everyone was surprised. Their gaze toward Tang Hao became condescending.

They would not be so bothered if Tang Hao was an observing student from another class. However, if he was not a student, then he had no right to be sitting in that class. Furthermore, he was someone who did not graduate high school.

“So he’s illiterate! Tsk tsk, too bad! And he looks quite handsome too!”

“I say, he must be stalking Teacher Jiang! What a pervert!”

The students discussed in whispers. Their gaze toward Tang Hao was filled with hostility.

“Class is almost starting and the teacher is almost here. Let’s throw him out!” Someone shouted.

“Right, right! Throw him out!” The students agreed enthusiastically.

A female student stood up. She was tall and wore a red dress. She looked rather beautiful and intelligent.

She walked over. With a cold face, she said, “Class is almost starting soon. Please leave the room immediately. You’re disturbing us.”

  “You are…?” Tang Hao asked.

“My name is Liu Feifei, and I am the class representative. You’re not from our university, right? Please leave now. Otherwise, I’ll be calling the security!” Liu Feifei’s tone of voice was ice-cold.

Tang Hao smiled and replied, “Class Rep Liu, I am indeed a student of this university! Look at this, I’m here to attend classes.”

He opened his backpack, retrieved a stack of textbooks, and placed it on the table.

Everyone was shocked by that display. Those were indeed the textbooks in their syllabus!

Liu Feifei stood stiffly on the spot, not knowing how to respond.

‘Who is this person? According to Cao Fei, this guy isn’t from this school. How else would he obtain the syllabus?’

Cao Fei smirked and said mockingly, “Aren’t you a shameless guy? You’re pretending to be a student at Z University. Do you think that we’re all idiots?

“I know your background! You were expelled from high school in your second year. I’ve also heard that you come from a poor family in a mountain village. You should be a peasant laborer, right? Why are you pretending to be a student? How shameless!

“I bet you bought the textbooks online! Stop pretending to be a student at Z University. You’re nothing but a hooligan!”

Cao Fei’s gaze upon Tang Hao was full of condescension.

Tang Hao furrowed his brows and his face darkened.

‘This Cao Fei is pretty annoying!’

“How would you explain this then?” Tang Hao smirked, then took out his student ID from his backpack and tossed it on the table.

Liu Feifei picked it up, looked at it, and was immediately confused. That was indeed a student ID of Z University!

As she inspected it, she wondered if forgery technology had become so advanced.

Cao Fei took the ID from her hands and looked at it. “This looks like the real thing, but it must be a fake! I wonder how much you paid for it?

“I say, how shameless can you be? You’re just a hooligan who did not graduate high school. What’s the point of you pretending to be a college student, and a student of Z University at that?”

Liu Feifei’s expression became even colder than ever.

She thought that the student ID must be a forgery. The ID stated that the guy was in their class, but they had never heard of him before.

‘This guy is shameless!’ She cursed in her heart, and her disdain toward Tang Hao increased.

“Hey! If you’re not leaving, I’m calling the security!” Liu Feifei yelled.

“There’s no need to call the security. Just throw him out by force!”

Several boys stood up with fierce expressions on their faces. They crowded around Tang Hao.
