Y/n's pov
My heart beats faster as I look at my parents. Ash walks over and glares at Kelley.
"What the hell O'Hara!"
"What?"
"I don't know what you think you have going on with my daughter but whatever it is you-"
"You what? Mama you can't keep doing this! I'm 21 I'm in my last semester of college I'm not a kid anymore! You can't keep telling me what to do with my life" I glare
"The hell I can so long as you live under my roof!"
"Then I'll move out!"
"Ash-"
"No Ali. It's one thing if you had told us but no I had to catch you two sneaking around!"
"Why do you think we were sneaking around! Because I knew you'd react like this if I told you" I huff
"Ash she is right. Every time she's mentioned dating someone or brings someone by you do act like this. She's also right in the fact that she isn't a kid anymore" Ali says grabbing mamas hand.
"Whatever I just- I need time to process this" she says walking out of the cafe causing Ali to turn to me.
"I'll talk to her Y/n. And Kelley hurt my daughter and I'll hurt you" she glared
"I won't hurt her I promise" Kelley says and with that Ali leaves to try to catch up to mama. I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding.
"That couldn't have gone worse" Kelley
"Oh yes it could've. Last time I mentioned I was dating a girl and brought her over for dinner Ash made her cry and leave" I frown
"Well at least I'm still here and I'm not crying" she jokes and I shake my head.
"Come on let's leave" I say and we head back to the hotel.
"It'll all work out Y/n" she says rubbing her thumb over the back of my hand and pecking my lips.
"I hope so"
Ali's pov
"Babe come on your blowing this way out of proportion. It's Kelley we're talking about you and I both know she's a sweetheart"
"I know I just- I'm mad she didn't tell us"
"Well if I were her I wouldn't have told us either. Every girl she's brought over or mentioned you've completely shot down"
"I just want what's best for her"
"And how do you know Kelley isn't it?"
"I-"
"You don't. You have to let Y/n have the freedom to make her own decisions and her own mistakes. You can't keep sheltering her from the world babe. She needs to feel what it's like to fall in love and what it's like to go through those relationship hardships. It's time to take a step back" I mumble placing a kiss on the side of her head as she sighs.
"I just don't want her to get hurt"
"I don't either but something tells me Kelley won't do that"
Y/n's pov
I'm sitting in the hotels conference room as that is where they set up our dining room and I couldn't feel more awkward. Mama has been taking some not so subtle glances at me and Kelley all night. I sigh which earns the attention of the table.
"Everything okay Y/n? Don't think I've ever heard you sigh like that" Carli says raising an eyebrow
"Oh uh yeah I'm just thinking about my school assignments that's all" I feel Kelley's eyes on me and I know she knew that was a lie. I feel her grab my hand a give it a squeeze under the table.
"Oh okay well the girls and I have been out of school for a while but we're all happy to try to help you" she smiles and I nod. I see mama come over to our table and I start to grow anxious.
"Um can I talk to you two?" I look at Kelley who just shrugs. We stand up and follow her out of the room and down the hallway a little bit that way we were alone.
"Look I'm sorry for how I reacted earlier. I was just really shocked that you were dating my daughter Kel. I talked to Ali and she did make some good points and you did too Y/n. You're right you aren't a kid anymore. I need to take a step back and allow you to make your own decisions because that's the only way you'll learn and grow as a person. But if Kelley makes you happy then...I suppose that's the only thing that matters" she sighs and I grin giving her a hug.
"Thanks mama. That means a lot to me"
"You know I'd do anything for you. And as for you" she says turning her attention to Kelley who stands up a little straighter.
"Treat my daughter right O'Hara" she says pointing a finger at Kelley then walks away. I turn to Kelley and grin. I bring my hands up to her face and place a kiss on her lips.
"I told you everything would work itself out" she smirks
"Yeah well I believe we owe a big part of that to Ali"
"Hmm you may be right I'll have to thank her" she says kissing my head.
"So what now?" I ask
"Well I wanna tell the whole world your mine"
"Hmm how about we start with the rest of the team and we can tell the world tomorrow" I smile
"I like the sound of that"
