Y/n's pov
Have you ever been in love with your best friend? It sucks especially when they don't feel the same way about you. I'm currently at a bar drinking myself into oblivion as my two good friends try to reason with me and cheer me up.
"Come on Y/n you know that she wouldn't be happy knowing that you're wallowing in self-pity" Ashlyn says
"No she wouldn't be happy if I was wallowing in self-pity ALONE, but i'm not alone I have you two here with me" I say taking another sip of my beer
"Y/n you can't just drink yourself away because she's getting married to someone who isn't you" Ali says
"Gee thanks Ali for pointing out the situation" I scoff
"That didn't come out right" she mumbled
"Do you even know what it's like? To watch the love of your life who you've know since Pre-k fall over and over again for someone who isn't you? It makes you wonder why? Why not me? I was there for it all! I was there for all the fights, heartbreaks, good times, birthdays, front rows at her games. I was always there" I say sadly taking another swig of beer.
"Y/n-"
"Imagine if one of you was getting married to someone else how would that make your heart feel" I say looking them in the eyes and they go quiet.
"Exactly" I say and down the rest of my beer.
"Can we go now" I say and they nod and drive me back to my house. I go to exit the car but Ali's voice stops me.
"Are you going to the wedding tomorrow? You know how much she wants you there" I shrug and get out of the car walking to my door walking in then locking it. I slide my back down against the door and look up letting the tears fall out of my eyes as I cry silently. I wipe my eyes climbing the stairs up to my bedroom where I don't even bother to change so I just flop down on my bed crying myself to sleep.
Day of the wedding
I groan as I wake up due to my phone going off multiple times. I look to see its multiple text from Ali and Ash asking if I was coming. I decide to suck it up and try to put my feelings aside and be an adult. I get dressed grabbing the gift I had gotten her making my way to my car as I drive to the wedding venue. I make my way inside quietly trying not to draw any attention to myself from the chatting guest. I place my gift on the table and sigh.
"Y/n!" I hear her voice and turn around putting on a fake smile
"Hey Kelley congratulations"
"Im so happy you made it I was starting to get worried when I didn't see you" She says hugging me.
"Yeah sorry i'm a little late but you know me" I chuckle and so does she
"Yeah you always have been for most things, ya know for as long as I've know you I don't think you have ever been on time for anything" she teases
"Oh wow I am offended Kel I was always on time for your soccer games"
"Yeah that's because I made you drive me because you had a car" She laughs and so do I
"Okay so maybe i'm not a very punctual person" I smile but it quickly fades as her fiancee comes up to us and wraps her arm around Kelley.
"Hey Y/n glad you could make it" Isabella smiles and I nod out of courtesy.
"Um i'm going to go find Ali and Ash they were looking for me." I say and walk off looking for the two.
"Hey" I mumble causing them both to turn around
"Oh thank god you made it" Ali says hugging me
"How you holding up?" Ash asks
"Well I have my flask in my purse so I'll be fine until that runs out." I say taking a quick swig of it. We chat until its time to take our seats but I sit in the back at the end of the row. I watch as the ceremony goes on but I can't take it as I start to feel the tears coming as they start exchanging mushy and lovey dovey vows. I take a swig of the whiskey I have in my flask then I quietly get up and walk out going unnoticed as I get in my car and drive to my house. I park and go inside and sit down at the bar as I drink away my pain. I hear my door open and I turn to see Ali and Ash and they smile sadly as I feel the tears well up in my eyes and they rush over to me and engulf me in a hug as the tears flow freely.
"She don't wanna marry me"
