After the surgery we found Will outside smoking surprise, surprise.

"I'll go." I told Banfield

"Ok I'll wait here."

"What's with the cops?"

"An officer was shot, I don't know much, but go let him know. That's our concern."

"Ok." I said and I walked outside

"Hey girl." Erin said I looked over to see the intelligence crew, I locked eyes with Antonio and I felt my anger grow. I held up my hand and walked over to Will

"I thought you quit." I asked him crossing my arms

"My girlfriend is in emergency surgery."

"You were so prepared for this you just happened to have a pack on you."

"She'll forgive me."

"No, no she won't because she's dead."

"What?"

"Yeah because of the fact she was starving herself and popping ibuprofen like candy her heart couldn't take it."

"You think this is my fault?"

"Lose 40 pounds to move in together ring any bells?'

"I just wanted her to be healthy!"

"She was healthy 20 pounds ago! You just want her to be hot. Especially if you were going to move in right?"

"You don't know what you're talking about, I loved her." He said and I scoffed

"You didn't love her, you just wanted an ego boost. You broke her down to feel better about your sad, miserable life and now she's dead!"

"Get out of my face!" He stepped forward

"You don't destroy the people you love!"

"Hey back off!" I heard as Erin pulled me back

"No, let him go so he can get the ass kicking he finally deserves!"

"Dr. Cortez!" Cate shouted pulling me away from Erin

"Sir we are so sorry for you loss. Can one of you please escort him inside?" She asked then and Jay walked the guy inside

"I'm going to ask you one more time. Are you alright?" She asked looked at me

"I'm fine."

"Really? Because you almost lost your career just now. Let's go." She said motioning inside

"Alayna." Antonio stepped in front of me

"She can't talk right now." She said to him and pulled me inside, we went into her office

"Detective Dawson is that your nothing?" she said and I didn't say anything

"I already know I saw the way you two were looking at each other."

"We slept together almost three weeks ago. He hasn't spoken to me since."

"Isn't he married?"

"Divorcing." I said

"Alayna."

"It's not my proudest moment, I've spent months fighting my feeling for a married man. Then it happened and I knew it was a mistake but I did it anyway." I said wiping the tears out of my eyes

"Alright it's ok cry about it and I'm going to stay here until you're done, then we're going to wash your face, and you are going home to get some rest. Then you will come back tomorrow ready to move forward, you can not be with a man who has one foot in and one out. Ruthie Sellers tried and look at where she is now."

"Ok." I said then I let the tears I had been holding go, and she wrapped her arms around me

"It's going to be ok, you will be ok."

I was leaving when Erin caught up with me

"Hey that was intense are you ok?" She asked

"I'm fine that guy is an asshole."

"You want me to arrest him?" She tease and I chuckled

"I wish you could, mental abuse should be a crime."

"I'm with you there."

"I heard a cop was shot are they ok?"

"Burgess, and yeah she's going to pull through."

"Good, look I'm going to head home I've been here for almost 24 hours."

"Alright get some rest. Don't be a stranger." I glance over her shoulder to see Antonio looking at me once again

"Yeah." I said pulling my bag on my shoulder then headed out to my car. I got in the car when I looked at my phone it was a text from Gaby asking if I wanted to stop but for a drink

"What the hell, why not." I said then I texted her back saying I was on the way.

"Hey stranger!" She said giving me a hug as a reached the table

"Yeah we've been pretty busy, they've been rotating us to different hospitals since the bombing."

"I get it, have you met these guys?" she said pointing to the people at the table

"I remember a few of you."

"Left to right Severide, Leslie, Mills, Otis, and Cruz. Guys this is Alayna, Alayna this is my team."

"Yeah Cruz and Mills saved my life." I said taking the empty seat next to Cruz

"So since I saved your life you're buying my next round right?" He asked I laughed

"I'd be honored." I said with a smile as we got up and walked over to the bar

"Working at med I bet you have some stories." Cruz said

"I'll tell you mine if you tell me yours." I said smirking at him

I was having a good time with fire house 51 they were a crazy bunch, but they kept me laughing. Cruz and I got along very well. He was flirting with me I could tell and I let him, I wanted to feel good about something today. The bell jingled as the door opened and in walked the intelligence team. I looked at Cruz as he told me about their last fire. When I locked eyes with Antonio, for a guy who didn't want to talk he sure had no problem staring. I saw this look in his eyes as he took in me and Cruz and he started to make his way over. I looked at Cruz and before I could stop myself I kissed him. He froze then put his hands on my waist, the next thing I know I was pulled away

"What the hell Cortez?" I looked at Antonio and I could see the anger blazing in his eyes
