ONE WEEK. FOR one week Rowan was considered the new kid. That was, until Bella Swan who moved in just a few doors down took her place. Chief Swan's daughter. The Evergreens had known that family for quite a while, way back to when Bella had originally lived in that house.

Her and Rowan were quite the pair, often causing mischief together when they were younger with another one of their friends, Jacob Black. So the Evergreens truly couldn't wait to see her once again after so many years, and even planned a visit to the household that very evening.

After Evelyn knocked on the door of the Swan residence, it wasn't long until it opened, revealing Charlie.

"Hey, Charlie. Is uh, is Bella here yet? We'd love to see her." Evelyn said, holding the pie she had made for the girl.

"Of course. Come right in." He held the door open for both of them to go inside. "I'll just-" He said, trying to take the baked good away.

"-Uh-uh, not quite." Evelyn laughed, moving it away from him.

Charlie chuckled as they made their way farther into the house. "Bella! There are two more people I'd like you to meet!"

Movement coming from upstairs signaled her presence before they heard the sound of creaking from the staircase, and eventually coming faces to face with the girl that Evelyn and Rowan had known such long ago.

"Bella, this is Evelyn Evergreen and her niece-"

"-I remember you. Rowan, right?" The familiar girl asked, shifting awkwardly.

"Yeah, it's nice to see you again." Rowan smiled.

"Nice to see you too." She replied, matching her expression.

"Wow, I'd figure after all these years you wouldn't have remembered our faces." Evelyn said, suprised. "Let alone our names."

"Ah, how could she forget good old Rowan. They were like two peas in a pod back then." Charlie said, "I distinctly remember the time that they almost burned down the house."

"Hey, that wasn't us! It was the candle that was too close to the wall." Rowan lied, smirking.

Evelyn held her hand out, stopping her niece. "No, if I remember correctly, you two were 'experimenting' with matches."

"Okay even if we were, which we weren't, who left us alone for long enough to find them?" The room suddenly went quiet as the two girls quietly snickered, looking over at Charlie.

He coughed into his hand, trying to avoid eye contact with everyone. "I'll just uh, I'll go and get you all a slice of pie then." He said, making his way towards the kitchen.

"Ooh, I'll help." Evelyn offered as she followed him along. "Do you have any ice cream?"

For a few moments the two girls just stood there, examining one another's features and how they changed over the course of their teenage years. It was Rowan who finally decided to break the silence.

"So, you're going to Forks High, right?" She asked Bella.

"Um, yes." She mumbled, "Yeah, I am. Tomorrow actually."

"Cool. I just started there cause I was homeschooled for a while, but it's a good school." Rowan told her, "Once you get over that fact that it is an actual movie cliche."

"I'm sure I can handle it." Bella assured, "We should hang out, since you're going to be the only person I know there."

She smiled at the statement. "Yeah, I'd like that. You should meet my friends as well. They're incredibly nice."

"I'm looking foward to it."

As Sacha, Vanessa, Rowan, and Lilura walked towards the same lunch table that they've been sitting at for the past week, two boys who were chasing each other down the same hall accidentally bumped past them, causing each of them to step back in suprise and Vanessa to spill the water bottle she was drinking all over her shirt.

She groaned, trying her best to keep her composure but to no prevail. Letting her anger take the best of her, she turned around muttering something, and not long after, the two guys were down on the floor.

"Vanessa, knock it off." Sacha warned. She rolled her eyes as they kept walking.

Just as they were tables away from their designated spot, Rowan couldn't help but hear her name being called. Turning around, she saw Bella sitting with a group of students.

"Bella, hi!" Rowan said in suprise.

"Hey Rowan. Do you uh, wanna sit with us? If that's okay..."

"Yeah, no, totally!" A preppy brunette with a headband said while scratching the side of her head. Everyone else stayed oddly silent.

Rowan looked over at Sacha for a moment as if she were asking for permission, and in turn she rose her eyebrows and walked away with the other two girls. Rowan looked surprised at the reaction, but still sat down next to Bella.

"Hi, I'm Angela." A girl with dark hair and light pink cat eyeglasses smiled.

"And my names Jessica." The same girl from earlier said with a high pitched voice. "Cool necklace by the way."

Rowan looked down to see that her pendant was hanging out of her shirt. Quickly, she put it back in and chuckled dryly. "Uh, thanks."

They stared at the girl until Angelia continued the conversation. "Anyway, that's actually a great idea Bella."

"Kirk, right? That's exactly what I thought." Jessica giggled.

"We're talking Olympic-size."

"There's no way he's so skinny."

"-Totally."

"-Yeah."

"Who are they?" Bella asked suddenly, talking over the conversation between the two others.

Rowan turned to see her staring at a set of five pale faces as they made their way towards the lunchroom, causing her to feel her whole body start to tingle. Rowan opened her mouth to answer but was already beaten to it by Jessica.

"The Cullens." She replied, leaning in to whisper. Though Rowan knew it would be of no use. "Doctor and Mrs. Cullen's foster kids. They all moved in here from Alaska two years ago."

"They kinda keep to themselves." Angela added.

"Yeah cause they're all together. Like, together together. The blond girl, that's Rosalie. And the big dark haired guy Emmett, are like a thing. I'm not even sure that's legal."

"Jess." Angela interrupted, "They're not actually related."

"Yeah but they live together! It's weird." She commented, "Okay. The little dark haired girl is Alice, she's really weird. She's with Jasper, the blond one who looks like he's in pain. Dr. Cullen's like this foster dad/matchmaker."

"Maybe he'll adopt me." Angela said, dreamily.

"Who's he?" Bella questioned, nodding towards the brown haired boy.

"Edward." Rowan spat, almost as if the name was poisonous.

"He's totally gorgeous, obviously." Jessica told her, making Rowan scoff. "But apparently, nobody here is good enough for him. Like I care, you know?" Knowing that Edward must've definitely heard that, she couldn't help but notice a small smirk form on his lips. "Seriously, like don't even try."

Bella shook her head and looked back at the Cullen's table. "Wasn't planning on it."
