Chapter thirty-three

For the second time, my world crash. I lost my grip on my phone and I found myself sitting on the elevator's surface.

I'm trembling here inside of our car, hindi dahil sa lamig, dahil sa kaba. I can't even cry because I'm still hoping that dad is still alive. Maybe mom is joking. Baka nakalabas na ng kulangan si Daddy. But our route is towards our hospital.

I clasped my hands and silently prayed. Sana magising na ako, paniginip lang ito.

"Ms. Sam, nandito na po tayo." natauhan ako sa tawag nila sakin.

My knees are jelly, buti nalang inalalayan nila akong maglakad.

The nurses, doctors even the patients. Grief is vivid on their faces. Mas lalo akong kinakabahan.

Hindi 'to totoo...

My bodyguards lead me to the hallway that says 'Morgue'. I paled as I saw my mom sitting on the steal chair, palms are on her face.

"Mom..." she looked up and ran to me crying.

"Sam, you're dad!" she cried.

"What happened?" her tears are affecting me.

"He died there,"

I look at her, "What?"

"Rebecca, you can see him now." I heard Tito Jack said.

Her cries covered the four white walls. I supported her when she was about to fall.

"Ako nalang titingin sakanya Ma, kung hindi mo kaya." ani ko.

I need to be strong for her. I thought.

I slowly walked towards the door. It is all gray and cold, and there I saw a steel bed. There's a white clothe covering him. Little by little, I took a step near it and pulled the clothe down.

My tears pooled.

I saw my dad, pale and immobile.

"Dad," I shake him to wake him up.

"Mom's is crying, wake up." my voice broke.

No response.

"Dad," I shake him more but he didn't opened his eyes.

I hugged him to feel his heartbeat but I only felt the coldness of his body.

"No..."

I look around and I saw Tito Jack, staring at me.

"Do something please," I begged but he only shook his head.

"Please!" I yelled.

I can feel my eyes hurting from crying. My chest is already hurting from sobbing. I once again place my head on my father's chest, I still couldn't hear something.

I cried my heart out until I hear a commotion outside. I look at it and saw camera flashing. I gathered my self up and walked towards them. My father is dead here and here they are capturing my– our grievance!

I was blinded by the flash but I stood fearless.

"Can you tell us what happened?"

"Talaga bang patay na si Mr. Saadvedra?"
