"Keeping long eye contact with me may lead to consequences."

Laura's POV

„What took you guys so long ?", Emma asked as she opened the door for Ross and me. „It's been like four hours."

I glared to Ross who was my avoiding my gaze and looking as if he would burst into laughter any second.

„We... kinda got stuck in traffic.", I told her.

„If that's how you define it...", I heard Ross mutter under his breath, making me elbow him in his side.

Emma looked between us before stepping aside and letting us in, „Anyways, come in. We were just about to start watching a movie."

„Alright.", I told her with a smile before stepping in, Ross following close behind me. I than turned around to him, making him nearly loose balance. He looked at me and put his arms defensively in front of him, „What ? Are you gonna punch me again ?"

I glared at him once again before pointing my index finger between him and me, „That will stay between us. Don't even dare to tell the others about it.. okay ?", I warned him.

He looked at me before taking a step closer and smirking, „Otherwise ?"

Wait, this was the part where he should agree. I didn't think of what would happen otherwise.

„Well, otherwise..", I started but was thankfully interrupted by Dave.

„Are you guys gonna keep on standing there ? You two seem to not get enough of each other's company today."

I widened my eyes before shaking my head and starting to walk away towards where the others were, hearing Ross burst into laughter behind me.

I looked where everyone was seated and saw that there was only one couch left empty. I sat down on it, feeling a second later that Ross sat down next to me.

„So what were you guys about to watch ?", Ross asked.

„We were going for Maze Runner actually.", Maia told us, making me turn towards her and notice Rudy.

I smiled immediately, „Gosh, Rudy. How have you been ? It's been such a long time."

He smiled towards me while putting his arm around Maia, „I've been good. How about you ?"

„Oh you know, just school stuff.", I told him.

„Maia told me that you got your license last week. Congratulations.", he told me with a big smile.

I heard Ross snicker from beside me, trying to cover it up with a cough. How dare he ?

I forced out a smile, „Thank you, Rudy."

We than started to watch the movie and I put my arm on the sofa arm and leaned my head onto it.

I already knew the movie but never get sick of watching Dylan O'Brien. I mean, who could ?

I decided to check my phone halfway through the movie and noticed that Ross was doing the same. I glanced at him and saw him rolling his eyes at his screen before turning his phone off. He sighed and ran a hand through his hair frustrated.

What did he see to become this frustrated ?

Wait, I shouldn't really care about it, should I ?

I looked over at him at it reminded me of the time we were babysitting Eva and Chris;

Ross sat slumped back on the couch, staring at the TV, making him look like he was actually paying attention to what Dora was saying but the blank expression on his face begged to differ. I wondered what he could be thinking about.

His legs were stretched out and his face was impassive, giving him a look of boredom. Even though he was looking like this, you could clearly see that something was going on in his mind. I than took my time to analyse him.

Well, since, you know, I had nothing better to do.

Ross was tall and lean. His blonde hair was cut short. The sun had kissed his skin lightly, making him look a bit tan. His eyes w-

As if knowing I was thinking about him, his eyes suddenly snapped towards mine, making me suck in a breath.

I continued looking at him absentmindedly, totally forgetting how this would look from the outside. I than saw him leaning closer to where I saw sitting, not leaving his eyes from the TV and than whispering, "How long are you planning to continue staring at me ?"

I felt my cheeks getting flushed and turned away from him before muttering, "Don't get ahead of yourself, Ross."

He chuckled before leaning back a little and turning towards me to look me in the eyes, "I really shouldn't, should I ?"

There was something about his gaze that I couldn't look away from. It was as if he was trying to cover something up with that playfulness of his.

I obviously don't know about his past or anything but I do know one thing for sure.
It's that everyone copes with their past in a different way and maybe this attitude of his was his way of dealing with it.

I finally realised that I've been selfish all this time, making everything about me, which was a huge fault. Being selfish only stops you from being considerate towards others. I literally only thought about my past relationship with Alec to a point where I was mean to Ross without a reason.

Even if he's a bad boy or has dated a few girls, who am I to judge ? I also dated Alec back than, knowing what kind of person he was. I just wished him to be more than that.

But he wasn't.

I really feel apologetic towards Ross for all I've said to him.

"You know, keeping eye contact with me for this long may lead to consequences that yo-", Ross started saying before I interrupted him.

"Ross, I gotta tell you something.", I whispered since the movie was still on and the others were watching it, making his brow raise in surprise.

I just really gotta get this off my chest now. "Ross, I'm so-",

"Wow, the movie was amazing !", I heard Emma say happily before standing up to turn the lights back on.

I widened my eyes, quickly turning away from Ross before our closeness causes any misunderstanding.

Maze Runner's film length should've been longer..
