(JAKE and CHLOE storm in, clearly in the middle of a heated argument.)
JAKE (SPOKEN)
Hey! You were messing around with Jeremy in my parents' room!
Chloe cringed.
CHLOE (SPOKEN)
You dumped me for a theatre girl!
"Hey! What's so wrong with theatre?!" Christine exclaimed.
Chloe went to say something, but Jenna cut in.
"Absolutely nothing."
Chloe stayed quiet.
JAKE (SPOKEN)
Well, c'mon! I broke my legs!
CHLOE (SPOKEN)
You broke my heart!
Rich rolled his eyes. "Boo-fucking-hoo."
JAKE (SPOKEN)
Well, my house burned down!
CHLOE (SPOKEN)
YOU HAD IT COMING!
"In what way?" Jake snapped.
Chloe looked down.
JENNA (SPOKEN)
Oh my god, guys! Did you see me on TV?!
CHLOE, JAKE, & BROOKE
Not now, Jenna!
Jenna frowned, and Christine gave her a side hug.
(JENNA exits, followed by JAKE AND CHLOE. JEREMY and his SQUIP enter. JEREMY approaches BROOKE.)
JEREMY (SPOKEN)
Oh, hey! It's so crazy, right? I mean with Rich and the fire, and—
BROOKE (SPOKEN)
You knew my last boyfriend cheated on me! And you did it anyway!
Chloe bit her lip in guilt.
Did you even like me?! Or were you using me to try and get to someone else?!
The Squip laughed, and Chloe threw a shoe at him.
I am not a sexy dog you can kick, Jeremy! I'm a person!
(CHLOE pokes out of the wings.)
CHLOE (SPOKEN)
Brooke!
(She pats her thighs as if she was beckoning a dog.)
Come on!
Rich rolled his eyes.
(BROOKE and CHLOE exit.)
JEREMY (SPOKEN)
How could this happen?
THE SQUIP (SPOKEN)
Rich was under a lot of pressure at home.
"Fuck off with your lying ath bullthit."
With his Squip disabled due to the alcohol,
"Also bullshit," Jake pointed out.
perhaps he lacked the proper...coping mechanism.
