Twelve years ago...

"JAY HELP ME PLEASE!"Carlos cried.
"I CAN'T GET IN, THE DOOR'S LOCKED!"Jay yelled back.
"PLEASE JAY PLEASE!"Carlos screamed in return, before Harry covered his mouth with a bit of cloth. The rest of the crew helped drag the puppy boy out of the window and to the ship just outside the beach house. Jay finally broke down the bathroom door, but it was too late. He rushed outside, it couldn't be too late to save his boyfriend, they couldn't have left yet. But they had. That was the last time any of the VKs and Ben heard from Carlos for years...

Present day...

Jay watched the waves gently crash below him. After twelve years, he and his friends had finally returned to the beach home they had last seen Carlos. Twelve years. The last time Jay had seen his lover was when he was sixteen and Carlos was fourteen. He's now twenty eight, and even though he hasn't seen the puppy boy in years, he's still been celebrating his birthday, their anniversary and writing him Christmas and Valentines cards. Jay looked down at the beach where the others were relaxing. He had taken a walk up a cliff path just beside the beach house, and the view was stunning. Six years ago the friends stopped searching for Carlos. Gave up. They concluded that he must be dead, or close to. The ship hadn't come anywhere near shore, which meant they must be running low on rations, and if they were they wouldn't waste their precious food on their prisoner. The loss of his boyfriend still hurt Jay's heart, the very thought of his true love being dead just added salt to the wound. Jay turned around to face the lighthouse behind him. The sun was setting and the lights were gonna he turned on soon. He should make his way back down. As he slowly walked down, he remembered when Carlos had been here, and they'd come up. How the younger boy kept slipping and the older teen had to keep catching him. Jay smiled at the memories as tears rolled down his face at the same time. He knew he wasn't the only one hurting. All the friends were still healing, especially him and Evie. Evie classes Carlos as her son, and cared for him deeply. Jay remembered how she'd run her fingers through his curly hair fondly as she droned on about how adorable he'd look in this outfit she'd made while the puppy boy would be busy trying to braid Dude's fur. Eventually, Jay reached the bottom, just as his friends finished bringing their sun-beds inside. "Hey Jay,"Mal began, walking beside Jay as they headed inside, "How was the walk?"
"It was okay,"he replied, "It still hurts though..."he added, referring to the loss of Carlos.
"I know, we're all still healing. But remember, we will all be reunited someday, whether that be in Heaven or here." Jay nodded slightly. He didn't like the idea of thinking Carlos is dead. He wasn't ready to accept that.
"Yeah, someday..." The pair walked into the beach house and Mal went off to find Ben. Evie and Uma has gone into their bedroom, so Jay locked the door and headed into his own room. The same room he and Carlos had shared. He looked over at the en suit. That was the bathroom Carlos had been locked in the day he'd gotten kidnapped. Jay has tried to break the door down, but he couldn't do it in time. Jay shook his head of the memories. He knew it was his fault his lover was gone. And he'd never live that down.

Carlos screamed time Jay. "JAY HELP ME!"he yelled as loud as he could. Jay tried to break the door down, but it was too late. Harry grabbed Carlos but the collar of his shirt and dragged him out with the help of Gil, Gonzo and Roxy. Carlos kept on screaming and yelling and kicking, trying to break free. He could see Jay run outside as he was thrown into the ship and began sailing away. He screamed Jay's name. "JAY HELP PLEASE HELP!" as Jay watched, helpless...

Jay woke up, sweating. Another nightmare of the day Carlos was taken. These nightmares had began when his lover was first taken, stopped for a few years, then began again when they returned to the beach house. Evie sat beside Jay, rubbing small circle son his back. "When did you get here?"Jay asked.
"I heard you yelling, so I came to check on you. I think you had another nightmare..."the blue-haired princess replied.
"Y... yeah..." Jay was being babied, and he hated being babied. He hated having someone care for him and look after him. Protect him. He was supposed to be protecting them. Ever since Carlos was kidnapped, all his friends had done was baby him. Did they think he couldn't protect himself because he couldn't protect Carlos? Before Jay could stop himself, the tears started flowing. Evie pulled him into a tight hug and whispered words of comfort. Jay started to calm down. "It's all my fault E, all my fault he's gone, I didn't protect him like I promised him I would..."he choked.
"No, it isn't your fault Jay. You don't have to blame anyone but Harry and his no-good crew. They were the ones who took him, please don't blame yourself, you had no control over it, none of us did." Evie continued to rub circles on Jay's back until he fell asleep again. She gently lay him back down before returning to her awaiting girlfriend in the next room.

The next morning, the group took a walk to the local market. They were selling fish and ice-cream along with handmade souvenirs, many of which were clothes. Mal and Evie headed to the souvenir area while Jay, Ben and Uma went to get seats by the docks for ice-cream. Ben left to use the bathroom, and Uma had some private questions she needed to asked Jay. "Hey Jay..."she began, looking up at the son of Jafar. He put his phone away.
"Yeah?"the ex-thief replied.
"I heard you crying last night. Was it another nightmare? It's okay, don't be embarrassed, everyone had nightmares."
"Yeah, yeah it was..."
"Well... I found this app. I was gonna show it Carlos, but I never got the chance. Anyway,"Uma got off the topic of Carlos as quickly as she could as she noticed tears beginning to well up in Jay's eyes, "It helps prevent nightmares. It's really good, maybe you should check it out."
"Yeah, maybe..."
"Umm, also, I was wondering... I mean... I wanna propose to Evie..."
"Really?!" Jay got excited at the idea of Uma and Evie getting married. It'd be a nice distraction.
"Yeah, I was wondering... what's the best way to go?"
"Well, take her somewhere that means a lot to both of you, like where you had your first kiss or first date or something. Choose a really nice ring and..."Jay stopped.
"What?"Uma asked. Jay nodded behind Uma, and she turned around to see Mal and Evie walking towards the pair.
"We'll talk later,"Jay added, and Uma nodded. Mal and Evie sat with the pair, Evie sitting beside Uma and Mal beside Jay.
"They had so many nice fabrics!"Evie gushed.
"Yeah, you must've bought at least twenty different types,"Mal added, smiling and her bestie. Evie nodded.
"They had so many lovely colours! Including a really nice deep red Carlos would've loved!" Jay smiled. Seems like Evie was also still thinking about Carlos and his opinions. "I bought it, I was thinking about making a scrapbook full of things Carlos loved to remember him by! Like a bit of Dude's fur, some pictures, maybe some notes!" Evie seemed ecstatic at this idea, and frankly, Jay loved it too. He loved the idea of making something special to remind them of how amazing Carlos was and all the things he did for them.
"Sounds great!"Uma nodded, taking Evie's hand. Ben came back from the bathroom. "Took you long enough,"Uma playfully scoffed. Ben rolled his eyes and sat beside Mal, wrapping his arm around her. Evie continued to talk about her scrapbook idea. Everyone was listening, apart from Jay. He was looking out into the ocean. Was that what he thought it was? No. It couldn't be. Could it?
