Sunna's POV.

The first rays of the sun were poking out as I woke up from my sleep. I slept all night, but mostly from exhaustion. It was not a good sleep. I tossed and turned all night, wishing Tarkik was by my side. It felt wrong not to sleep with him.

Shaking myself to rid myself of sleepiness, I got up and out of the den. I wanted to head over to my old pack's territory now, but I need protection and help. So I was forced to wait for Blade, Honey, and Ram to wake up.

When they finally did wake up I was ready to go and they seemed confused and surprised by my eagerness. "Beta, stay here at camp and help out with the training." I commanded. He nodded and licked Honey's ear before trotting off. "Honey, Gamma, let's go!"

We picked up a few deltas on the way for a bit extra protection before heading to the bridge. Luckily we caught the attention of a few thetas patrolling their border and I knew they must have already mindlinked their alpha because they stayed put to watch us. Their alpha and my uncle arrive shortly.

"Sunna, I didn't expect to see you till tomorrow. What's with the sudden change?" My old alpha asked me.

It's an emergency. My mate was taken, so we need to move up the battle to today. I told him firmly and honestly.

His whole attitude changed. "Sunna, I'm sorry, but moving it up to today would be difficult. We barely have time to prepare."

I know. I know. Neither do we. We were attacked along the border yesterday afternoon. They took him and I... I don't know how much time he has. I needed to be truthful with him. Though this was hard to say it needed to be said to get his attention.

He hesitated before sighing and rubbing his forehead. "I don't know, Sunna."

I stopped myself from letting out a whimper. Please, Blake, I'm begging you. I can't lose him. I pleaded.

He looked away from me and inhaled deeply. "Fine, but Sunna you owe me. You owe me big. Don't ever forget that. Same plan as before." He said in a very serious tone.

I bowed to him. Thank you! Thank you so much! I will do whatever you need me to do when this is all over. I promised him.

"Ok, good. Now I need to prepare my pack." Alpha Blake turned and left. My uncle left with him.

I turned around with a grin, turning to Honey and Blade. I felt like a child in a candy store. Blade smiled, she understood what the alpha had said. "Ok we're good to go. Now we prepare." Honey smiled as well and we ran back to camp to tell Ram.

He too smiled at the good news. "I will gather all of the Firsts. Meet me at the sunken rock." He told me. I nodded and Honey, Blade, and I walked to the rock.

We sat down near the rock and Blade turned to me. "Sunna... I want to ask you something, but I do not mean to offend you in any way. I am only worried about you."

"Continue," I replied.

"I am nervous about you being on the battlefield. Do you really think you can defend yourself out there? Are you sure you can do such a task?" She asked me.

I haven't given that much thought. Of course I am not the most skilled fighter and I don't have much experience. However I am not only fighting for me, but also for my mate and for all of those who couldn't fight for themselves and died at the hands of these monsters. So despite my lack of skill, I will use my anger, rage, frustration, sadness, and guilt to fuel myself to fight.

When I looked back to Blade, my eyes held all of my determination and I said, "yes, I think I will be able to handle myself fine. I am not going to back down from this fight because my pack will be fighting out there and I will be fighting alongside you."
