i went to school. all was well, i guess, until fourth period. matthew decided to speak to me, even though he never really noticed me before our encounter at the mall. i was sitting down in my assigned seat, as usual i was early. soon after i arrived, matthew did also. he walked to his seat casually, in the back of the room, where him and his friends would be goofing off 20 minutes later. i immediately felt the tense mood in the room, was it just me? matt and i had been the only people early to class. even the teacher wasn't here. then, he had finally spoke, although i wasn't facing him. "you're the girl i bumped into at the mall, right?"

i was really shocked, but i turned around, gave a quick glance and nodded.

"you're really cute."

holy shit. i thought i was hearing things but no, i wasn't. i almost fell out of my chair, i've never been complimented like that. but i had to restrain from embarrassing myself. my cheeks had become a coral pink colour, and i stuttered out a thanks. he turned away after giving me a smile to take out a book to read whilst waiting, and that was the only interaction we had.
