A/n at the end!
*In and out. In and out.*
Your breathing was the only thing you could hear. A soft noise, almost inaudible, if it weren't for the absolute silence that rattled the building. It was strange to hear it. You knew that the Animatronics were roaming, that they were actively making their way towards your office, but you couldn't hear a single sound from them. It was almost surreal. It certainly added a new wave of terror to your rising panic.
*In and out, in and out.*
Any attempt at soothing your nerves seemed pointless. Your heartbeat was rising, your breath quickening as you started to really enter fight or flight mode. You leaned back in your seat, able to do nothing except watch the cameras as your death closed in. You were honestly starting to accept it, despite the panic that was wreaking its way through your bones. You finally manage to tear your eyes away, throwing your gaze down to your clasped hands.
*Whatever God will listen, please let my death be quick...*
And then it happened. The clock struck 2:37 AM, and you felt a cold chill run down your spine. The building was starting to down. You had been so caught up in your fear that the fact that time was even passing, let alone the draining power, had simply failed to cross your mind. You could almost feel the mechanical whirring as fans slowed to a stop, and the doors opened.
You panic, lurching back into your chair as if you could sink into it. You were nearly willing to try, anything to escape the looming nightmare that threatens itself on your doorstep. You hear footsteps, the first noise other than the building's mechanical guts and your breathing. Your head snaps to attention, purely out of instinct. Looking anywhere else was your only desire, anything other than looking your killers in the eyes. You try to look away, trying your hardest to simply wish yourself into skipping past the death that awaited, but one thing kept you gazing forward and locked.
Those eyes.
Those big, blue, glowing eyes.
They stared at you. They looked, no, gazed straight into whatever soul you could muster to acknowledge.
They looked almost...
...human...
or, if anything, alive.
Those glowing eyes of the animatronic bear looked more alive than you had seen from yourself in a very, very long time. Let alone whatever you managed to glimpse in the eyes of other humans these days.
You always tried to avoid eye contact.
But here you were, frozen, unable to do anything, except stare into those endless eyes. The glow almost created a sense of depth like no other. It was very much a trick of the light, but you couldn't help but wonder whether or not something really was behind those eyes.
------------
You snap out of it, flinching. Hard. Hands thrown up to protect your face, somehow curling even further into the chair. You cry out, expecting nothing but the worst. Expecting nothing but those awful faux fur hands to grab you and do god knows what. You didn't even want to consider what could happen to you right now. No one is nearby, no one would hear you, no one could save you.
Except...you sat there.
Waiting for an impact that never came.
What did come, however, was the sound of the hell-cursed monster turning around. Walking away. Away from your office. Away from you. Was he...not going to kill you? Until this point, you were completely convinced that's all the animatronics wanted from you. Based on their previous behavior, the multiple attempts to get in your office, and every single one of the creepy hints from that man on the phone, all these creatures wanted to do was take your life.
