I hurriedly ducked but had to veer away sharply when another one landed where I wanted to be. Since I was a tad slow, I ended up getting singed by the ball of fire. Fortunately, I had evaded enough that I wasn't seriously injured, but my hastiness led me to trip over myself. I could not even paint my panic, scampering away when another attack blazed straight for my face.

"It has now turned into an elemental attack!" the host exclaimed. "According to our information, Honey Beast is a wielder of fire—obviously. And Lionheart is a Conduit of time. Lionheart's specific abilities under the category are unknown, but it seems they're getting one-sidedly harassed by the other party!"

Harassed, huh? Well, he wasn't wrong.

I had to continually make full movements in order to avoid being cremated, and it was starting to tire me out. I tried to close the distance between us, but I was hindered by the fireballs that landed warningly at my feet—pushing me further and further back. There was no time at all to rest or to stay in one place, and with the enemy staying in just one position, I was at the absolute disadvantage. I also would not be able to keep up evading for very long. This Honey Beast might be rash, but he wasn't stupid. He would catch up to the patterns of my movement very soon, and I would be cooked when that happened.

Hopefully, I was overestimating him. But it was better than underestimating anybody.

Since I wouldn't be able to close the gap between us, I momentarily stepped back to take a breath. I went back the furthest I could until I was finally in a much safer and more comfortable distance. It was useless trying to resolve the situation when my efforts had already been futile.

However, in my desperation for some rest, I had forgotten one very important thing.

I had to stop, leave some room on my back to move around, lest I wanted myself to be cornered with nowhere to go. There was only so much space, and if I gave that up, I'd be having my head under the guillotine myself. I would be getting the rest I need, but then it would be a prelude to the inevitability, and I would probably lose this fight.

It was a good thing this wasn't those sumo type of fight. Not that it was about wrestling, but about the knock-off the stage type of thing. If it had been that type of competition, I probably would have lost with that earlier assault of fireballs.

I took a deep breath.

I stared hard at my enemy through my mask, clenching my fists as I guarded against his impending attacks. The entire time he'd been using that fire, I realized he'd stuck with the fireballs. Either he was limiting having to show his cards, or he really wasn't capable of anything else.

The latter theory was a rather weighty one, especially since he didn't use his element straightaway. Otherwise, he could've taken me down immediately. Or he was just underestimating me like that.
