Chapter 40

On to Chapter 40!

After a few days had gone by, regarding the little Zenitsu fiasco, you were cleared by your doctor and were able to go about on your missions once more. And upon hearing those words, your kasugai crow immediately screamed in your ear that you have roughly a month before you are needed to return to your duties. 

In the same room as the three boys, Hisa, and your own doctor, you loudly exclaimed, "Eh?! A month!? But I thought this entire process was dedicated to just get me healed up and get back to work!" The black crow quickly began to poke your face and pinch your skin as it called you an idiot. "Be grateful that you have another month off!" It squawked, "Stupid!" It finally ended. 

And with that, the crow flew off, and only your not-so-excited self and the others were left to your own devices. You realized that you wasted much of your delicious time to training your body again even though you actually had time to relax yourself for once. And as you quietly pouted, Tanjiro quickly tried to help you see the positive side of your situation and congratulated you on your speedy recovery as Inosuke yelled at Zenitsu to stop being annoying as he continued to cry about how you wouldn't be with the three boys anymore (and not have anymore opportunities to try and sweep you off your feet).

After staying at the house for a few more hours, you decided that it would be best to finally head back home where your chores are still waiting. Giving a hug to Hisa and thanking her for her kind treatment, you made your way to three males. 

"Ah, so you're finally going to head back home, (Y/N)chan?" Tanjiro asked with a bittersweet smile, sad to see you go. A small nod came from you, "Yeah. But don't worry, I'll come back soon. So get rid of that kind of smile, Tanjiro-kun." The male chuckled as you gently patted a side of his cheeks as he slightly leaned into your touch. Now turning your attention to a sulking Zenitsu and cross-armed Inosuke, "When you get better, remind me to fight you again, Inosuke." The males face immediately lit up with excitement. Laughing chaotically, "I definitely won't forget, mouse! I'll make sure I bring you to your knees!" You scoffed at his assured tone, "Sure, Inosuke." Your tone, slightly cocky, set off the wild male. 

Getting the male to quiet down and promising him that you would bring food for his abyss-like-stomach, you finally looked at Zenitsu. The yellow haired male looked at you briefly before looking back down with haste. You assumed that he was just flustered due to what happened between the both of you a few days ago, but it was actually because of Tanjiro giving him a death glare from behind you. "Zenitsu," moving yourself towards the looking-away male, "I want you to know that you made me really uncomfortable with what you did." With your words making the male have his chest heavy with regret, he quickly looked back up at you before taking your hands and placing his forehead on your knuckles; a sign of respect. "I apologize, (Y/N)chan, please forgive me..." His voice was low and filled with heartbreak. With a small smile now beginning to break, "No need to be so serious, Zenitsu. I just don't want you to do that to me again. And I also forgive you, it's hard to not forgive a selfless and foolish person like yourself." The yellow male lifted his head from your knuckles and pouted at you, "I'm not foolish, (Y/N)chan!" A unanimous chuckle came from you all. 

After another set of goodbyes and making sure that you had all of your items, you began heading home. And as your figure began to become smaller, the three boys began to yell out to you.
