Chapter 2

But before your eyes could catch anymore details of the area, two, identical voices wrapped themselves around your ears, grabbing your attention easily. "Everyone," the two, from what you assumed to be, females paused, "we thank you for coming here tonight. To the demon slayer corps final selection." You listened intently at the two shorter individuals and learned how, from this point on, there are demons crawling around the woods, and that there would be no more Wisteria from this point forward. You swallowed thickly as Tanjiro only looked ahead with sharp eyes and a challenging look. You stared at him with awe,

'Why are you not scared Tanjiro?'

'What happened to you?'

To Chapter Two!

After passing through the exit of the selection waiting area, you both bolted and let your hands fall out of place. 

Sprinting by his side through the tall grass, you focused your energy in making sure that you stuck next to your new friend, since you both agreed to look out for each other during the selection. 

"We only need to survive for seven days (Y/N)! Just keep that on your mind!" He said with a seriousness. "Got it!" You replied, watching him grit his teeth with uncertainty. Following his lead, the two of you quickly stopped behind a large boulder to scan your surroundings and figure out the plan to survive in this ungodly place. "All we have to do is just survive tonight, but once the sun comes up, the demons can't do anything and we can finally rest." You nodded as you listened while scanning the surrounding area, "So let's head east then, since that's where the light touches first." "Sounds like a plan!" With a quick nod at one another, you both sprinted east. 

Pants from the two of you filled the air as you both quickly ran through the densely packed forest. Staying right next to him, you noticed a shift in his expression. "Wait, (Y/N)!" You halted immediately with your hand on the handle of your sword, assuming that that useful nose of his must've picked up something. "A demon's nearby! Keep your guard up!" "Alright!" The tension in the air quickly became more and more heavy, 'Where are you, demon...'  

You continued to scan to dark forest around you as your back faced Tanjiro. "(Y/N)! From above!" Your neck shot upwards to see a figure falling from above. Your body froze on the spot as the falling demon rapidly came at you, 'What the hell? Why am I not moving?! Move god dammit! Move!' Your body never obeyed your command, but merely stood there, frozen. But before the demon could pound your head into the ground, you felt another force collide with your body. You rolled on the ground as you felt two arms gripping your waist while the sound of the impact from the demon came from a distance. Quickly stopping yourself from rolling by placing your elbows on the ground, you opened your eyes to find Tanjiros crimson eyes looking back at you with worry. 

Words threatened to escape from your mouth as you felt your face begin to blush once more, by the large dust cloud quickly caught your attention instead. 'Now's not the time to get all nervous! Get it together (Y/N)!' Quickly escaping Tanjiro's grasp, you placed yourself in a stance, ready to attack the demon with full force. You eyed Tanjiro who was also getting himself ready by staying crouched low. 

The dust cloud slowly dissipated, and what was revealed was a demon for sure. Blood thirsty eyes, three misplaced horns, an elongated tongue, unnatural human characteristics; this was a demon for sure. You watched its movements as you gripped the handle of your sword.But light, rapid steps quickly grabbed your attention isntead, forcing you to whip your neck around to see a demon mid-air, about to strike Tanjiro.
