Here I am, up in this room that is supposedly mine, watching Modern Family.

Crying.

Why the hell am I crying?

This is a comedy show!

My phone buzzed beside me and I picked it up.

A text.

From Shane.

I put my phone back down.

Oh right! He's the reason I'm crying!

It buzzed again. And again. And again.

All texts from him.

He is making this so hard.

My phone vibrated and I looked down.

He was calling me.

Dammit Shane! Stop with the calls and the texts!

You’re only making this harder!

I hit the end button and I dry my eyes.

 “Hey, Ash Bash.”

“Go away father.” Annoyance evident in my tone.

“Oh come on Ashley.” he sighed.

“Go away father.” I repeated, burying my head in my pillow.

“Ashley, come down for something to eat. You’ve been in this room and barely been eating properly. I know you’re probably hungry. Come downstairs.”

“No dad. I hate you.”

“You don’t hate me. You love me.” His tone smug.

I moved to a sitting position to look at him.

And he was smiling.

How dare he smile at me.

“I do not.” I crossed my arms over my chest.

“Come downstairs.” He said.

“I said no dad! I hate you!” I shouted.

He rolled his eyes and muttered something under his breath that sounded like “drama queen”.

I cannot believe him.

I am so not a drama queen!

“Come downstairs.” He said again.

This could go on all day.

I am not going downstairs.

“No.” I stubbornly replied.

“Come downstairs.”

“I hate you.”

“We have cheesecake.” He smirked. “Love me now?”

My ears perked up at the word cheesecake.

“Just a little.”

Shane’s POV

Dammit Ashley! Answer my calls and texts!

I threw my phone at the wall.

God. I miss her so much.

“Dude, everything okay?”

I spun around and saw Lance, Brandon and Justin standing in the doorway.

“Freaking perfect.” My tone dripping with sarcasm.

"Really? You seem pretty upset to me." Justin said.

Lance, Brandon and I stared at Justin.

He clearly didn't note the sarcasm in my voice.

"What?" Justin asked. "Why are you guys staring at me like that?"

I pinched the bridge of my nose and shook my head.

"Come on let's go out. It'll take your mind off of the one whose name shall not be spoken." Brandon said.

"What?" I asked.

"I'm not sure if you're okay hearing her name yet." he shrugged.

I shook my head again. "I'm not going anywhere."

"Shane, you got to stop moping around. Summer's soon going to be over." Lance said.

"Yeah." Justin chimed in. "Summer is supposed to be enjoyable, not..."

He paused and scratched his head. "Not enjoyable?"  he questioned.

It's at that moment I realized...
