Boom

Boom

Boom

Clap

I groaned as I heard my ringtone blasting through the room.

What time is it? You know what? I don’t care. All I know is that I want to sleep. So the person on the other line could suck it.

My phone stopped ringing and I sighed in relief. I was drifting back off to sleep when-

Boom

Boom

Boom

Clap

Oh dear God! Boom, boom, boom clap. Boom, boom, boom clap. I. Just. Want. To. Sleep. I love that song, Boom Clap by Charli XCX but right now, it’s annoying the fuck out of me.

The ringing stopped and again I tried to go back to sleep.

Boom

Boom

Boom

Clap

Oh for the love of-

I snatched my phone off my nightstand; I answered it and didn’t even check to see who it was. “What?” I growled.

“Whoa, why so grumpy?” Shane said, his tone laced with amusement.

“Look. Shane I love you and everything but it’s early and I want to sleep. So bye.”

“Ashley, it’s almost time for lunch.” He chuckled.

“What?” I flew up from my laying position. Probably not a wise decision. Now my head is hurting.

“Yeah, it’s 11:45.”

I can’t believe I slept that long. Today is the last day that I have to spend with my friends. Tomorrow, I leave early in the morning. Damn.

Aiden and I have been spending the last few days with our friends. Every single second of the day. I’m still so heartbroken that I have to leave them. But I have to leave because of my father. I want him to be happy. He said he has too many memories in this house and he can’t stand it and so on and so on.

“Ashley? You still there?”

Shane’s voice broke me out of my reverie.

“Yeah, I’m here.”

“So I’m going to come over in a little while and we’ll go get lunch, sounds good?” he asked.

“Yup.”

“Okay. Later.”

“Later.” I replied and hung up.

I threw on an ombre white orange dress and my white converse. I let my hair down from it’s messy bun, grabbed my phone and purse and ran down the stairs. I walked into the living room and found Ethan surfing the channels.

“Where are you going?” he asked.

“Out.” I answered.

He placed the remote beside him and stood up facing me.

“Take me with you. I beg you.” He put his hands on my shoulders and shook me.

“No.”

“Why not?” he whined.

“I’m going to lunch with Shane.”

“Well, just give me a ride somewhere. Please.”

“Where?” I sighed. “To John’s house?”
