It was the Saturday night before the Pay-Per-View, it was live event day a normal day for the Lopez family.
"How did El take Seth's heel turn?" Ashley questioned as she and Rebecca sat in makeup
"Not well" Rebecca shook her head "I mean we've always tried to raise her knowing the difference between the character and the real person but she just turned five a few days ago.. it's still hard to get that through her head that yes that is daddy but it's not really daddy" she shrugged "confusing" she said and the blonde nodded
Fifteen minutes later her makeup was finished and now they were on to her hair
"Rebecca!" Joe yelled and the redhead's attention immediately went to the longhaired man who had been watching her daughter and she noticed the panicked look on his face and immediately got up and ran over to him and there stood her daughter rocking back and forth on her heels
"Ella.." she said as she gently approached her daughter and bent down in front of her and she noticed the ever so familiar look in her daughter's eyes "Ella Quin" she said and the little girl looked at her "Hey.." she said with a small smile "Where'd you go?" she asked
"I feel weird Momma" she said and Rebecca nodded
"Come sit on my lap" she said pulling her daughter into her lap as she sat down on the floor and held her close "Lets get your jacket off" she said
"No" Ella whined as she shook her head
"You're getting too hot love" Rebecca said and she sat the jacket next to her
"Rebecca.." Joe said quietly and Rebecca saw her daughter's feet begin to twitch slightly and she nodded and she laid the little girl on the ground and the rest of her body began to tense up and shake as her breathing became uneven
"It's okay" Rebecca said as she brushed the hair out of her daughter's face "It's okay Ella" she said and looked up at Joe who looked terrified and confused "Go find Colby" she said to him and he nodded before walking towards the production offices "You're okay Ella" Rebecca turned her attention back to her daughter
Ashley walked over and sat next to her best friend and grabbed the little girl's hand
"You're doing good El" Ashley said "Just breathe" she said quietly
After another minute Rebecca heard her daughter take a deep breath and let it out slowly as the shaking slowly stopped and the tenseness in her muscles started to release.. it was over.
"How long?" Colby questioned as he bent down next to Rebecca
"About two minutes" She said quietly and he nodded and Ella's eyes opened as she looked around "Hi love" Rebecca smiled down at her daughter
"Hi beautiful" Colby said as his daughter's eyes met his and she blinked slowly before curling into her mother's lap and he rubbed her back "I know, it takes you a lot out of you.. you sleep" he said
Rebecca had a match that night but Colby on the other hand did not, So he decided to take the little girl back to the hotel so she could rest. Rebecca was reluctant to leave her daughter's side but she had a job to do and she knew she would be safe with Colby and he promised to call her if anything happened so she let them go.
"Daddy" Ella said as she laid against her father's chest as they laid in the bed in the hotel room
"Ella" Colby said as he looked down at her and she smiled up at him
"Why do I shake?" she asked innocently as she looked up at him through her eyelashes
"Why do you have seizures?" he questioned and the little girl nodded "Because you have epilepsy" he said
"I know that" she sat up "but why?" she asked
"Because you're special" he said
"Daddy" she shook her head
"What?" he asked "It's true, you're special"
"Could have made me special some other way" she grumbled as she folded her arms across her chest
"It's not my fault" he shook his head
"Yeah huh" she nodded "You made me" she said
"That's not how that works El" he shook his head
"That's not what mommy says" she said "She said when you made me everything was already decided"
"That's true" he nodded "but we didn't decide to just give you epilepsy, that's something that is messed up with your brain" he said "We had no control over it and trust me if we did we would never have given it to you"
"It's not fun" she shook her head
"It's not fun for me or your mom either, it scares us every time it happens"
"Like that bad one?" she asked and he nodded
"I don't ever want to think about the bad one ever again, a five minute seizure that even the shots couldn't bring you out of was terrifying"
"Mommy said she thought I was gonna die" she said and Colby nodded
"We both did" he said "That's why we are so attached to you 24/7" he said
"I'm not gonna die" she shook her head "You wanna know why?" she asked
"Why?" he asked
"Because if I did that means I would have to leave you and that would make you and mommy sad and I don't wanna make you sad" she shrugged "and if I left, mommy would get all of the mint chocolate chip ice cream"
"So you're just sticking around so you can torture me with this mint chocolate thing like your mom?" he asked and she nodded
"Now you're getting it" she said with a smile and he kissed her head
"That's fine with me"
