December 6th - 34 Weeks

Colby felt Rebecca next to him in bed, tossing from side to side every few minutes, he looked at the clock on the nightstand next to him it was two in the morning. He looked over at her as her eyes closed again and he fell back to sleep himself.

20 minutes later she was tossing again and then she sat up slightly, resting her head against the headboard and running her hands over her stomach
"Rebecca" he said and she looked over at him as he opened his eyes and stared at her
"Sorry" she apologized "I just can't get comfortable" she said
"Did you try that pregnancy pillow?" he asked and she nodded
"Didn't work" she shrugged
"Are you hungry?" he asked as he sat up
"No" she shook her head and he placed his hand on her stomach and he felt the almost constant jabs to his hand and he looked up at her
"Has she been doing this all night?" he asked and she nodded
"She's restless" she said "She is starting to run out of room in there"
"Is that her foot?" he asked and she shook her head as her face scrunched up in discomfort
"It's her arm" she said "Her feet are up here" she motioned higher
"In your ribs?" he asked and she nodded and his eyes widened
"That is becoming her new favorite spot I think, I don't know how she hasn't broken any of my ribs"
"That can happen?" he asked in shock
"Yeah" she scoffed "If she kicks hard enough"
"Damn" he shook his head "Ella don't hurt your mom" he said to her stomach "Take it easy on her in there" he said and Rebecca smiled
"I guess I can't blame her too much" she shrugged "I mean she's feeding off of my emotions and I've been pretty terrified the last week or so"
"Why?" he sat up now and she took a deep breath
"What if I don't make it?" she asked "Or worse what if she doesn't make it?"
"Rebecca" he shook his head
"No" she held her hand up "Don't stop me by saying everything will be okay" she said "We need to talk about this"
"Nothing is going to happen to you"
"You don't know that!" she exclaimed and for the first time he could see fear, genuine fear in her eyes "You don't know what is going to happen, I don't know what is going to happen and for me always being in control of my body this is hard.. it is hard to not know when or how or where it is going to happen"
"You know where it is going to happen, we toured the hospital last week"
"You know what I mean" she glared at him

They sat in silence for a few minutes before she spoke up again
"Would you ever forgive me?" she asked in a whisper and he looked over at her once more "If something went wrong.. would you forgive me?"
"Yes!" he wrapped his arm around and pulled her into his chest "That is the stupidest thing you've ever asked me, of course I would forgive you.. it wouldn't be your fault" he shook his head
"If something does start to go wrong and it comes down to me or her.."
"Rebecca" he shook his head
"Choose her" she said and looked up at him "You save her and don't worry about me"
"Why are you so convinced you're going to die all of the sudden?" he asked and she shrugged "You're not" he shook his head "You are going to be amazing and We are going to have a beautiful little girl at the end of this thing and you are going to be here to see her first word and her first steps and to fight with her when she is a teenager and to see her get married and eventually give us grandchildren" he said and she wiped the tear from her cheek "You're not going anywhere" he shook his head "You're not leaving me yet, We are in this forever"
