Almost kick the automatic doors in. Cos they're taking too fucking long to slide open.

When the gap is wide enough, I squeeze through and sprint across the tiled floor. Slide to a sudden stop. But only because I've slammed into the desk.

"Our Emergency Room is the next entrance over, Sir. Do you require a wheelchair?"  The matronly receptionist stared up at me in horror.

Little wonder, as I'm still covered head to toe in fake blood and mud.

"My wife....please....my wife. Where is she? I NEED TO SEE MY WIFE! "  I screech frantically.

Shrug Andy's hand off my shoulder when he desperately tries to stop me from leaping over the counter. Greg eventually catches up with us and wraps his arms forcefully around mine.

"Settle, Sunshine. You're scaring the bejeesus out of this nice lady here. Why don't we let Andy take over....eh?"  He's whispering in my ear but doesn't let up his grip for a single second as I struggle against him.

"So sorry about that, Ma'am. I apologise. My friend here is worried about his wife and in a fair bit of shock, I'm afraid. Finleigh Reedus? We got a call that she was admitted here a short while ago. After a motor vehicle accident or something?"

"If you can please help us out with any information....we'd really appreciate it."

I double over in Greg's arms, gasping for breath as I dimly hear her speak into the phone.

"Doctor Alexander, can you come to reception immediately? Yes....yes I know you're with Fin. But it's her husband. He's here and I really think you need to come....quickly! "

"The Doctor will be here shortly, Sir. Maybe both of you gentlemen can take Mr Reedus into the family waiting room in the meantime? First corridor, second door on your left."

"Ummmm....you're quite sure he doesn't require any medical assistance himself?"

Greg just about carried me away with Andy following.

"He's fine, Ma'am. It's just makeup is all. Really sorry about the mess on your desk and....Oh hell....the floor too...."

*

"She'll be Ok, pal. Fin will be just fine and back home with you before you know it. Slow deep breaths, mate. That's it....nice and slow."

Greg held on tight and crooned softly into my ear once he forced my butt down on a chair.

Andy planted himself on the other side of me. When he tugged my head to his and kissed my forehead, I literally....dissolved.

Fin? OH JEEZUS....Fin....my baby....

It only took Greg nine minutes to drive from location to the hospital. Yet it felt like hours to me, as I sat in the back. Desperately clutching Andy's hand the whole way.

"Bunyip....Bunyip....Bunyip...."

Barely managed the breath to get the words out through my furiously chattering teeth.

"Skip?  She'll be Ok, brother. She will"  Andy whispered in misunderstanding, grabbing me even tighter as I stared unseeing out the window.

Snatches of the phone conversation came and went. Something about the car Fin was a passenger in? Her arm, head....and something else?

But she's still in New York with Unc until tomorrow at least. Maybe even Friday morning.

Couldn't possibly be my wife, I told them. Must be some mix-up, surely?
