Previously!

He took his forehead away from you and instead wrapped his arms around your frame, placing your head on his shoulder. He thought more of what you had done in the short time that he had known you; your excitement over curry on rice, your flustered state at the Udon stand, and your kindness and understanding of demons. He buried his face into the crook of your neck yet again as a flustered smile of his began to form, his heart throbbing even more.

He knew that he would never regret having feelings for you.

On to Chapter 22!

After hugging your frame tightly momentarily, Tanjiro realized that it was time for you both to continue your journey with one-another. Letting you go, "I'll be right back (Y/N)chan..." The male whispered as he gently laid you back onto the floor in order to go and retrieve his little sister, Nezuko. After placing the already sleeping girl into the box that he carried on his back, he immediately went back over to you; speed-walking just to get there faster. Scooping you up bridal-style, he began walking out of the underground chamber with Nezuko in the brown box that he carried and you in his arms.

A grunt escaped from you as Tanjiro carried your body, causing him to look down out of instinct, even though he could barely even see you in the pitch-black darkness. You blinked a few times, slightly confused as to why you weren't able to see anything, "Tanjiro-kun?" You asked aloud, a little worried that you possibly went blind. The sunny-eyed male hummed in response, causing his chest to vibrate gently against your shoulder.

With a slight blush that appeared on your face almost immediately from the gently vibrations, "W-Where are we?" "Oh, we're walking through the tunnel at the moment, why?" The aforementioned male spoke, never stopping his pace. "Oh, I was just confused," you laughed awkwardly, "I remember that we were both in a lit room right before I pass out, and now I can't see anything..." Tanjiro chuckled when he heard your response, your confusion and realization both prevalent in your words. The male was about to say something else, until he felt you lean your head on his shoulder; your hair slightly wrapping itself around his arm.

His words immediately came to a halt once you shifted your head onto his shoulder. "Thank you, though. For carrying me," your smile evident through your words. The wine-eyed male couldn't say anything except only exhaling a happy sigh through his nose as a rosy red decorated his cheeks. But breathing in once more, the familiar scent of sweet honey and vanilla filled his lungs. Greedily, he breathed in, taking in that incredible scent that you had. And going a little bit too overboard with all of his deep breathing, it caused you to become slightly worried about him, "Are you alright, Tanjiro-kun?" You asked suddenly, catching the male by surprise. "U-Uhm, yes!" He fumbled over his words. You didn't question it any further, not wanting to ruin the moment. The rest of the walk was silent.

Upon reaching the entrance of the cave, you quickly motioned your crimson-eyed friend to let down. With some reluctance, he followed your request and placed you down. Your first few steps were shaky, causing the boy to immediately hold your waist to help you stand. After standing still for a moment, you smiled up at him to signal that you were able to walk. Nodding, he let go of your waist, and instead held out his hand, which you happily took.

After walking through the dense forest and approaching the streets of Sumasiki, Tanjiro eyed you multiple times, making you furrow your eyebrows in confusion. "What's wrong?" You finally asked, a little concerned as to why the boy kept looking over at you over-and-over again. "Well, uh," rubbing the back of his neck slightly, "it's your haori," he stopped his pace, "it's all torn up and bloody..." Your eyes immediately grew large and you turned your head to look at your shoulder. And sure enough, it was bloody and torn. "Oh geez," you whispered, "I didn't really think about that, now that you mention it." Tanjiro nodded slightly. "I'll just take it off for now then," you spoke aimlessly, slipping off the haori gently so that the wound on your shoulder didn't pulse with pain.

After taking off your haori, the ruby-eye'd male cringed as he saw the large gash on the back of your shoulder. Sighing with a thin smile, "Here, (Y/N)chan, you can wear mine for now." Gently placing down the box, Tanjiro began to slip off his own haori. "Are you sure?" You asked, scared that you might stain it with blood from the gash on your back. He looked up momentarily before smiling and nodding with closed-eyes. After asking him a few more times if it was okay, which he kept telling you that it was okay, he helped you slip his green-checkered haori over your frame. Eyeing you down, he could feel his heart throb slightly; the sight of seeing you in his own haori made him feel pride and sudden happiness. Once you were comfortable in the slightly larger haori, you nodded to your friend and stuck your hand out; this time he was the one to happily accept your hand.

The first thing that you both did after leaving the alleyways of the city, was return to the small deli that you both ate at and paying for your meals. You both chipped in to pay for the meal so that neither of you were paying for the whole thing. The owner, of course, wasn't all too happy with your little stunt, but after slipping him a little more cash, he was happy to let you both go with no other consequences. After that, you both crossed back over to Asakusa, in hopes that both Tamayo and Yushiro were both still at their estate. Luckily they were.

Tamayo was more than happy to bandage up your injury, clean both you and Tanjiro's haori's and do another physical checkup on you to make sure that there was nothing else that you needed to be worried about. And in the meantime, as usual, Tanjiro was receiving the wrath of Yushiro. And in response to that, you butted heads with the hot-headed male for being so rough with your sunny-haired friend. Ultimately, Tamayo scolded the male for his ill-tempered actions; which you obviously made fun of him for, only enraging him even more. After Yushiro was done being scolded however, Tamayo was nice enough to give you one of her own haori's. It was a lavender haori that had spring flowers designed along the bottom of it. Once you were taken care of, and Tamayo took a quick look at Tanjiro, you all went your separate ways.

After making it out of Asakusa city, both you and Tanjiro's crows began to yell the same thing over and over again at the both of you; the beginning of you two's torture. After walking for a few hours, which enabled both of your haori's to fully dry and be put back on, the crows persistently said the same thing over and over again. You could feel yourself becoming more and more annoyed as they continued. "South-southeast!" The crows cried multiple times. A tired and irritated groan came from you, "Alright, we got it..." Your patience was really being tested here. Tanjiro could smell the frustration that radiated off of you and squeezed your hand lightly. You peered at him at the corner of your eye as he smiled thinly. You only sighed and let your head fall to the side, the intense smell of irritation subsiding a little bit.

Once the male could smell that you were finally calming down, he redirected his attention to the birds that were constantly chanting "South-southeast! You must head Southeast!" With a whining tone, "We know! We heard you both loud and clear! So quiet down and give us a break!" The two birds flocked to his face and continued to chant, but now even louder. "I'm begging you! We already got the message! Please!"

And right when Tanjiro said 'Please!', an ear-shattering 'Please!' came from ahead of you both, leaving you both cringing at such a screech.
