Entering the deli, the smell of curry on rice filled your nostrils, causing your stomach to rumble with excitement. Finding a seat and already knowing what you wanted, you waited for Tanjiro to scan through the small menu that was already on the table. You breathed in the smell of the place, causing good memories to flow throughout your mind. One memory that slipped through the crevices of your mind was when you and your father came to Sumasiki and ordered curry on rice during an extremely cold evening. You reminisced as you stared at the wall, a small smile gracing your lips. Tanjiro looked up from the menu and noticed your expression of enjoyment as he smelled your overpowering scent of sweet honey and vanilla. He gasped lightly at the smell of you, surprised to smell such sweet things when you were thinking about something that made you happy. He couldn't help but enjoy the scent that radiated off of you; it was sweet, but not too sweet.

Sighing to yourself after thinking about the past memory, you returned your attention back to Tanjiro, who was also looking at you with that smile that he always wore. You smiled back as you cocked an eyebrow, "You okay, Tanjiro-kun?" Snapping out of it, "Oh! Yeah! My bad," he laughed lightly as you merely tilted your head with confusion, enjoying the sight of seeing him chuckling. Your interaction with him was quickly cut short when a waiter came and asked what the two of would like to eat. Excitedly spewing out "Curry on Rice," you turned your head over to the sunny male who snickered at your enthusiasm. "I'll have the same as her," was all that he said. Writing down both orders and taking the menus, the waiter was off.

After waiting for a little bit and conversing with one another to pass the time, two plates of curry on rice arrived. You felt your mouth water as you eyed the plate of goodness. Quickly taking a utensil, you dove right into the dish as Tanjiro tried to eat his own plate, far too distracted with how excited you were to eat. You felt tears of happiness run down your face as the taste of the curry was exactly the same as the curry that you and your father ate during that one cold evening. The male chuckled at your pleasurable state, "It's that good huh?" Already knowing what your answer would be. You nodded with an ecstatic smile, enjoying the taste of the meal to the fullest.

Enjoying the rest of your plate at a slower pace, the both of you ate in silence. But, after a few minutes of eating your food, you noticed how Tanjiro was looking over your frame and through the window of the small deli. Swallowing a mouthful of curry and rice, "You okay Tanjiro-kun?" You asked, confused with what he was staring at. The male never said anything, his eyes only squinting at something. Turning around in your seat to face the direction that he was looking at, you could see a child wandering into a dark alley; the streets Sumasiki unusually empty. A feeling of uneasiness came over you as you watched the child enter the dark alley all by itself. Wanting to get a closer look, you got out of your seat and went up to the window, earning a worried "(Y/N)chan?" from Tanjiro.

Peering through the window with a feeling of uneasiness growing more and more, you studied the child's movements as it progressed deeper into the dark. Once it's small frame was almost invisible, two, glowing red dots appeared in the alleyway in front of the child. Your once standing-still body erupted into movement, "Tanjiro! We need to go!" Completely ignoring your plate of food. Sprinting onto the now empty streets of the city and right in front of the alleyway, the two firey, glowing eyes looked at you briefly before two large hands whipped the child away. "Oi! Get back here!" You yelled as you began your pursuit. "(Y/N)chan!" You heard the male yell as the door of the deli was slammed open, "It's a demon!"

Your eyes widened at his words, 'This kid wouldn't have been abducted if I wasn't busy shoving food down my throat! Fuck!' You yelled in your mind. Gritting your teeth with disappointment and frustration with your actions, you continued your pursuit with no sign of slowing down. The sound of sand-paper rubbing on rocks echoed through your ears as a sinister, feminine, giggle bounced through the air. Seeing the end of the alley approaching quickly, you jumped into the air, unsheathing your sword. 'I can't let it get away unscathed!' Slicing the ground below you once you were close enough, you saw a bright crimson decorate your blade as a cry escaped from the demon. Looking at what you cut, it resembled the tail end of snake. You looked at the snake-like body part as it's bright, green scales glimmered slightly.

Turning your head back to the demon, you saw it's body coil together as it's torso raised into the air, it's tail end regenerating rapidly. You stared back at it with a glare as it's intimidating eyes stared into yours. It stayed silent for a moment before erupting with laughter, catching you off-guard. Laughing hysterically, "How precious!" It gasped for air, "A small, frail girl like you is chasing after me?! Even though your back is injured and you have problems weighing on your mind?!" Your breathe hitched, 'What the hell? How did she know about my back!?' She cooed at you as her upper torso lowered down a little bit, placing her index finger on her chin, "You would be a good one to have!" She giggled with excitement as her body coiled tightly, "Stay here for now though, okay, my little guardian~?" The demon spoke like a person talking to a small animal. Not responding, you saw it's body slither into the forest that hid behind the city. You followed.

Jumping through old logs and debris, you saw the demons lower, snake-resembling body, slither into an open cave not too far ahead of you. Breathing heavily upon arriving right in front of the cave, you stood there for a moment, thinking about how that demon already knew about your injured back. But you pondered heavily about what she meant by "problems weighing on your mind". Only making yourself more irritated, you shook your head, "She doesn't know what she's talking about. You're fine, (Y/N)." You said to yourself aloud, hearing the approach of your male friend from behind.

"(Y/N)chan!" He yelled once he saw you. You gave a half-smile as you turned your body to face him, "Took you long enough to finally get here, Tanjiro-kun." Teasing the boy lightly. He blushed faintly from embarrassment, "Sorry about that... The deli owner grabbed me before I could catch up with you." You cocked an eyebrow, "Why would the owner want you?" "We didn't pay for the meal..." You stayed silent for a moment, processing his words. 'Oh yeah... We never did pay, did we?' Sighing with annoyance, "You didn't pay him though, right?" The male shook his head from side-to-side, "I promised him that we would come back to pay for the meal, which took quite a lot of convincing..." Laughing a little at the small story, "Good, because there's something a lot more important to do." You paused for a second as your eyes fixed themselves on the dark entrance of the cave, your body turning accordingly, "There's a child that needs to be saved," you furrowed your eyebrows before continuing,

"and a demon that needs to be slayed."
