Children Know

The children now have grown so old

To hastily if all is told

For their minds have yet to age

To contain the worlds rage

Should they not but shriek and play

Into night and into day

Too early still they know the truth

That life is marred and sharpened tooth

It pierces quick to make its point

Felt in every breath and joint

The darkest day is yet to come

And it is known to those too young
