Ignorance and Bliss

Before I believed in love, I thought I was content

Food adorned my shelves, wealth was simply spent

My home was blessed with heat, my emotions calm and cool

So smiles idled on, this poor ignorant fool

I had but all acquired, tantamount desires

Unknowingly I built, myself up as a pyre

Made of brittle things, that were swift to catch afire

For now they knew the flame, your passing had inspired

Burnt beyond the ash, they scattered to the wind

Ignited by the warmth, that convinced Adam to sin

Cursed is the knowledge, that sears within my veins

Lacking of your love, will I be content again?
