Arthur Morgan: Never Again

Start from the beginning

"John, shut up" Arthur snapped before walking away, going to run a job for Dutch.

John just laughed quietly to himself, he knew that you would both fix things and get back to normal. Everyone knew that you loved each other, it was only a matter of time before the two of you remembered that. You were both just too proud to apologise, neither of you wanted to admit that you were wrong, even though you were both wrong.

-----

Your whole body tensed when you saw Arthur walking over to you, you weren't in the mood to speak with him right now. "Y/N...Dutch wants us to check out a possible lead" Arthur mumbled, scratching the back of his neck.

"Find someone else, Arthur. I'll probably just get in the way" you rolled your eyes, using his own words against him. He had told you that you get in the way during an argument the other day. He hadn't actually meant it, but he knew that it would get under your skin.

"Goddamn it. Dutch wants us to go, so grab your shit" he insisted, sounding more than irritated.

"You make a real convincing argument, really you do" you rolled your eyes, your voice thick with sarcasm. "But no, fuck you" you shook your head, remaining in your seat.

"Real mature" Arthur scoffed, rolling his eyes. "Why are you being so difficult?" he asked, looking down at you tiredly.

"Why are you being an asshole?" you asked, raising an eyebrow at him. Arthur just muttered under his breath as he walked away, giving up on trying to convince you.

You knew that you couldn't go on a job with Arthur right now. A job was what started this whole fighting thing, the last thing you needed was another job making it worse.

-----

You grunted as you bumped right into Arthur, neither of you had been paying attention since you were both lost in your thoughts. Arthur opened his mouth to speak and you just knew that it was going to be a snarky comment, so you spoke before he could.

"Not today, Arthur. Not in the mood" you mumbled before just walking past him, not giving him a chance to respond.

Arthur was actually a little stunned, he had expected an insult or at least a scoff and a huff, but that felt even worse than when you were fighting. You just sounded tired.

Your next few encounters with Arthur went by like that. You would just brush him off and simply saying something along the lines of 'I can't be bothered fighting'.

Everyone had noticed that you just seemed tired now and that was because that's exactly what you were. You were tired of fighting, you didn't want to do it anymore but it seemed that Arthur only ever wanted to fight. When ever you were within a few feet of each other, he made a nasty comment, so you didn't even want to try to talk to him. How could you talk to him when he only ever seemed to want to hurt you?

Arthur didn't like fighting with you but when you were fighting, at least you were talking, at least you were looking at him. Now it seemed like you didn't want anything to do with him. Even fighting was better than this silence from you.

You wouldn't speak to him, you wouldn't interact with him, you wouldn't even look at him. Arthur hated it. When you were arguing, you were still together, he still felt like there was something between you both, but now there was just nothing.

It just felt like you were drifting away from him, like you had given up on him. Arthur knew that he had to do something to make this right.
