"Dr Asmau your attention is needed in the emergency ward" a nurse shouted
She and three other nurses ran to the emergency room ,to a bed where an elderly man was laid down
What happened? She asked
"Man in 40s collapsed suddenly" a nurse answered
"He's sweating and has a fever" the nurse added
"Sir,can you hear me? Sir" she called tapping his shoulder
He winced closing his eyes tights,a nurse clasp a pulse oximeter on his index finger while Dr Asma use a light pen to look at his eyes.
"Vitals?" She asked
"It's between 40 to 80 and a fever at 39.8" the nurse whose name is Hauwa explained
"Is this a septic shock?" She ask no one in particular
"I checked his stomach and his muscle guarding is bad" doctor Hamza,a colleague stated
She pressed the right lower part of his stomach and slowly close his eyes and open it biting his lower lip.
"I think it's peritonitis"she stated looking at doctor hamza
"What should we do?"nurse Nana inquired
"Oxygen mask ,7L" she said
"Set up IV lines and execute a full drop" she added
"Yes,Dr.Asma" nana obliged and ran off to get what she was asked for
"Let's take a sonogram,too" she said walking over to his head and removed the pillow
Saline is ready ,Nurse Hauwa said
"Administer 32mg,and mix ODW.After that,inject 10cc per hour"she ordered putting on her gloves.
"Fluid, please" she said looking at Nurse Nana
"Okay Dr" she answered and ran off to get it while she got to work.
"Dr Asma,the rates are dropping"Nurse Hauwa stated .
"It's just needs to be fixed"she explained
The monitor started beeping and she check his neck pulse
"It's an arrest .prepare CPR"
Doctor hamza,can you please help with the compression?
"Yes" he replied climbing on the bed
Please Prepare the intubation ,she called as doctor hamza started the compression
"He's back" Doctor hamza explain checking his pulse as the heart rhythm became normal
"The blood pressure is between 50 to 80."Nurse nana stated
"Please hurry with the norepinephrine injection" Dr Hamza said
"Okay doctor" Nurse Hauwa said and did as instructed.
she applied gel on his stomach and started checking his stomach through the a monitor ,
