Natsu woke up early and prepared breakfast in bed for Lucy. Although he mostly ate from the guild he learned a thing or two about cooking from observing Mirajane and being on the road. He even went in search of wildflowers to put in a small glass cup on her tray. He walked into the room and laid the tray on the chair in his room not having a desk or table. He took a moment to look at her peaceful face before shaking her lightly.
"Lucy... Lucy wake up... Come on Lucy I made you breakfast" he spoke softly she finally began to stir, she stretched Natsu carefully looking her over as she did, loving everything about her. She sat up and smiled
"Did you just say you made breakfast?" she asks and Natsu gets the tray with bacon, eggs, and pancakes waiting on her. He sits it down gently and her eyes shine as she looks up at him.
"Thank you, Natsu!" She exclaims she pats the bed for him to sit so he does and she hands him a piece of bacon he smiles as he takes it.
"So is it a nice surprise ?" He asks Lucy nods her head with a mouthful of food and he smiles at his first attempt to woo her as he ate his bacon.
"I figured we could take a run and work on your sparring some more if you would like or we could just stay in?" He asks her she takes a bite of a pancake while thinking.
"I think sparring would do me good" Lucy states after swallowing the bite she took. Natsu and Lucy talked about Happy and Carla while she finished her breakfast and Asuka learning to be a sniper already. Then they headed out for their run.

Natsu noticed how Lucy was becoming more confident in herself and her abilities. She had already given Natsu, as rough as he was, some bruises. They took a break and Natsu sensed someone else's powers, he looked for the sun which sat high in the sky. Noon. Natsu stood and stretched,
"Lucy I'm gonna get in a fight with Gajeel today, I need you to stay safe and out of the way. Have levy do some script magic or something" Natsu spoke nonchalantly. Lucy stared up at him from the spot on the ground
"I thought the stare down yesterday was enough that he had backed down," Lucy spoke as Natsu saw the two figures he expected coming over the hill.
"He challenged, there's no going back, I have to make him submit to my rule, Levy's presence will make it harder but she can protect you" Natsu spoke with certainty. Somehow Natsu realized that he just knew how all this should work, his instincts his dragon knew just what to do. Lucy stood when she finally saw the pair coming down the hill, Natsu began to growl immediately. He only stopped when Gajeel stopped in front of him to talk, the two girls moved to the side. Gajeel spoke first
"I don't know why I did it, but I did and I am here to fight you Natsu." Gajeel then turned around and walked a few feet away. Natsu got into a fighting stance and waited on Gajeel to make the first move, he only stood there staring down Natsu before he flung himself forward. Natsu threw a flaming punch into his stomach, at this Natsu's power surged in him like it was waking up from a deep slumber. He glanced at the girls locking eyes with the brown ones of his mate, in them were worry and encouragement. Natsu smiled and almost laughed at the intensity of his power. He lit himself on fire
"I'm all fired up now!" He roared staring at Gajeel who had already armored his skin. Natsu didn't hesitate as he flung himself toward Gajeel, covered in the heat of his flames, flames that became hotter by the second. Gajeel blocked his punches but the heat from Natsu left his mind concentrating on redeveloping his armor. 

"Fire Dragon Roar!" Natsu exclaimed melting away Gajeels defenses, Natsu got a jab into Gajeels stomach, but Gajeel grabbed his arm and sent him flying, Natsu landed on his feet his hand on the ground slowing himself to a stop. Gajeel used his arms as weapons and Natsu advanced through the attacks only getting hit once or twice. Natsu sent himself flying through the air hoping to knock Gajeel unconscious with a quick hit to his head. Gajeel spotted this and attacked as he was in the air, So Natsu landed behind him and kicked him from behind causing Gajeel to stumble slightly. Natsu growled as Gajeel turned around, His instincts taking full control, he felt his teeth lengthen and his skin draw tight in certain areas of his body as scales appeared. He roared at Gajeel before he swiped at him with his claws. Gajeels eyes widened as he tried to dodge the attack but Natsu's speed had quickened as well. Natsu finally got a swipe across Gajeels's chest when Levy screamed.

"GAJEEL STOP!" Gajeel held his hand to his chest as Natsu stood in front of him growling slightly and still ready to attack but remained still. Gajeel looked to his mate then to Natsu knowing that he wasn't going to win anyway and that he shouldn't drag out the fight any longer. Gajeel bent down on one knee and bowed his head to Natsu

"Go, take up your mate and leave" Natsu demanded. Gajeel did as he said and when they had vanished over the hill Natsu finally returned to normal. Lucy came to his side right away anyway and the calm of his mate's scent and heartbeat relaxed him quickly. Lucy eventually laid her forehead to his and spoke softly

"Let's go home to stay for a while." Natsu stroked her hair a couple of times before agreeing

"Yeah, Let's go home" with that the pair stood and began the walk back, Natsu got brave enough to lace his fingers with her causing Lucy to blush but Natsu could only grin, after a few moments of comfortable silence Lucy broke it. 

"What happened to you out there Natsu?" she asked still not use to such a demanding in control Natsu 

"Instincts I guess, I will have to take up the role as a leader to the dragon slayers after all" He stated shrugging his shoulders. Lucy only nodded contemplating the idea, she imagined what it might be like if all the slayers took Natsu's orders. Gajeel would be a butler of some sort, Wendy would be fine, probably spoiled, while Gray and Laxus had some sort of entertainment jobs all with a manically laughing Natsu sitting on a throne with a crown. Lucy smiled till the last part making her shudder. Natsu took that as a sign of her being cold and he stopped their walk to lay his scarf around her neck.

"Natsu what are you doing? you never take this off!" Lucy stated shocked that he removed it, Natsu laid his hands on her shoulders and looked her in the eyes

"You are the most important thing to me, even above the scarf" He spoke making Lucy blush once again. Natsu took her by the hand and they walked home in comfortable silence.
