The tears slowly stopped, but I continued to hold on to Ryder, as though my life...no. As if my sanity depended on it. Which in a way, it did. After what felt like hours, we pulled away, just staring at each other. He slowly raised his hand to cup my cheek, wiping away any remaining evidence of my tears.
"Can you give us a try though?" he asked, leaving his hand on my cheek.
I just shook my head. "I don't know."
He stared at me, silence ensuing for a bit. "Then I'll wait for you to be ready."
I stared at him in shock. "Why?"
He slowly slid his hand down my cheek to wrap his arm around my shoulders, pulling me closer to him.
"Because I like you. I really like you. And I'll wait for you to be my girlfriend."
I could feel the tears slowly build up again, soon trickling out of my eyes. I hugged him really close to me, mumbling out apologies and other gibberish words. He just sighed, rubbing my back as he tried to reassure me that he wanted to do it.
