Today was her birthday like every other normal kid in school she has wore a new dress and had a packet of toffee,
Now it was end of school time and she saw waiting for her brother to picked her up. She was still holding the packet because it still contain toffee and she wanted to share it with her brother.
She again looked up to see if her brother is coming or not
He always do that! Huffing to herself she again bowed her head down
"Hey!" She heard someone calling
"I'm talking to you." This time she raised her head to see who was the person and whom he was talking. She was met with a boy who was wearing uniform her school, maybe he was from her school but she has never saw him before but it's not like she knows everyone in her school. And he was talking to her?
"It's your birthday?" He asked her, she nod her head,
"Happy birthday."
"Thank you." She replied and again looked at road.
"Hm! Happy birthday." He again said she turned to him
"Thank you."
"Happy. Birthday." It's then when she realized why he wished her.
"Oh! I'm sorry." She quickly mumbled and picked toffee from packet and gave him. Taking it from her he pop it in his mouth. When his lips curved into smile she couldn't help but gawek
"Can I take more." He sheepishly asked. Having no heart to say no she nod her head and took the packet forward for him to take toffee. He took handful of it saying thank you he left on his cycle. And there she was watching the road where he just left
That's the first time she saw him
"Zayyan! Come sit in the front row beside Anum." Her class teacher called she turned her head to see whom her teacher is calling and to say she was shocked will be underestimate, he was the same guy whom she met last year, now he is in her class? She moved her bag to make place for him
"Hey you are the birthday girl right?" He whispered when teacher turned to other side, she nod her head,
"Today I'm thinking about taking a test." Class teacher again turned to the class and said.
"Mam Kya zarurat Hai itna achha din chal raha Tha....." (But mam why? Look how pleasent the weather is)He loudly complained making Anum's eyes wide, how can one talk to a teacher like that?
"Draw the diagram of cell cycle." Sushma mam said and sat in the chair, Zayyan not knowing what to do looked around as he was clueless how to draw it
Anum kicked him softly and pushed her notebook forward for him to see clearly, he took his notebook and pen out and started copying from her notebook
She was almost done when she felt a strange knot in her stomach realization hit her
"Mam! Can I......can I use restroom." She slowly asked her mam
"Aaj Kal ke bachhe, parhna likhna hota nahi Hai school sirf matargashti ke liye ate Hain aur surprise test ho Jaye toh restroom use karna hota Hai." (Today's kids, they came to school only for fun and when you told them about surprise test they have to use restroom) As the teacher scold her she bowed her head down in shame, tears started coming in her eyes,
Zayyan first looked at teacher then he turned to her who's head was down but because of the pony tail he can clearly see her face
"Are you okay?" He whispered, she nod her head negatively not having energy to talk
"Mam! I think she is in pain." Zayyan said to teacher, when her eyes also fall on Anum she realized she really needed to use restroom,
"Why didn't you tell me before, you can go." Sushma mam said, Anum slowly got up and picked her bag but still she was feeling ashamed that's when Zayyan realized why she was in pain
"Here!" He passed her his school coat, taking it from him she tied on her waist.
