Chapter 2- Blink 182: Helping People Find Friends Since 1992

Start from the beginning

"Oh my God, I LOVE Blink 182!" he pulled me up into a big hug, picking me up. I felt a little relieved that that was the reason he was staring at my shirt but also a little suffocated. I swatted at his shoulder furiously and he laughed while plopping me back down in my seat and returned to sit in his own. He turned towards Mikey and they started talking about something that happened earlier in the week. Okay, this kid switches topics fast...

The bell then rang and our teacher, Mr. Smith, walked in. He jumped right into the lesson after announcements ended, only acknowledging me when calling attendance. Alright, jerk...

The next class on my schedule was Western Civilizations, which I sadly had without Frank or Mikey. I walked in and took a seat in the back, again. When the bell rang, a tall kid with blonde hair and a lip ring sat down next to me.

"Hey, I like your shirt." he whispered to me when the teacher walked in.

HOW MANY GOOD-MUSIC LOVERS WERE AT THIS SCHOOL? SCREW EVERYTHING I SAID EARLIER, I LOVE THIS SCHOOL.

"Oh, yeah, Blink 182's awesome." I smiled at him and he smiled back, "Bob." he stuck out his hand and I grabbed it, "Elodea." I relied while shaking it.

Bob and I continued to whisper to each other throughout the lesson and I found out he was in my lunch, too. Great, now I'm going to have to choose between him and Frank. I'll just sit with whoever I find first.

When the bell rang, Bob walked me to my next class, Reading Seminar, which I thought was rather nice of him since his next class was Biology.

Nothing eventful happened in Reading Seminar. No new friends, but that was alright since I've made more friends today than I have in my whole life. My next period was Lunch. I stopped at my locker first and grabbed my lunch while putting my books away. I looked around the hallway and saw that there were only a few other kids with their lockers down here, maybe that's why they didn't care enough to put an effort in lighting it up.

I shut my locker and headed towards the lunchroom. When I walked in, I immediately saw Frank pop up, waving his arms frantically at me from across the room, shouting my name. I chuckled to myself then moved over to his table, looks like I'll be sitting with him.

"Hey!" Frank shouted when I finally reached the table.

"Well, someone's happy to see me!" I shouted back and he just giggled (an incredibly adorable one, may I add) in response.

Frank and I were having a conversation about why limes shouldn't be considered a fruit when I heard someone from above us interrupt Frank's talking.

"Elodea?" the voice sounded familiar so I looked up and saw Bob standing there. I immediately blushed, not thinking of how I was going to explain to Bob that I wasn't going to be sitting with him.

"Bob, you know Elodea?" Frank asked. Wait, what? They knew each other?

"I was just about to ask you that, Frank!" Bob sat down next to me.

"Wait, I'm so confused. You two know each other...?" My voice trailed off and Frank piped up.

"Know each other? We're BEST BUDDIES! Isn't that right, Bob!?" Frank turned to look at Bob with a big, stupid grin on his face. Bob just laughed and nodded. Oh thank God, now I can sit with them both, and hey, maybe I was even getting into a friend group!

"Mikey knows her, too! He's the one who introduced me to her!" Frank yelled happily.

"Oh, cool! So you basically know everyone then-" Bob started but was interrupted by what looked like a big, brown hair ball out of the corner of my eye.

"EXCEPT ME!" I turned to look at the talking hairball and saw that it was actually just an epic afro that held a tall boy underneath it. The boy sat down next to Frank across from me and started to introduce himself.

"Hi, I'm Ray Toro!" his fro shook while he talked excitedly. I laughed and shook his outstretched hand and introduced myself, too.

"I'm Elodea." Bob cut in before Ray could reply.

"NOW, you know everyone." Bob smirked and everyone laughed.

Frank was shifting nervously in his seat, deciding on whether or not to say something. He eventually decided to and started to say, "Well, except Ge-" but was cut off by none other than, Bob. That kid just loved to interrupt people's conversations.

"So! How's your first day been so far, Ellie?" Bob asked me, "Oh, I hope you don't mind me calling you that, if you do I'll stop." he quickly added.

"Oh, that's fine, everyone calls me Ellie. And it's been pretty cool, actually. I made about more friends today than I have in my lifetime!" I eagerly yelled out. Wait. Shit. Now they're all gonna know that I'm just a loner and not wanna be friends with me! I was waiting for them to ask something about my old school but to my surprise, they just laughed.

"You'll fit right in with us," Bob smirked, "and sorry if we got your hopes up, but we don't have anymore friends, either. We aren't very much liked by our peers, let's just leave it at that." I felt glad that I finally had more people to related with, other than just Marie, who I didn't even have now.

I smiled at Bob, "It's alright, I wasn't very liked, either. I guess I will fit right in." I held my head up proudly. Bob, Frank, and Ray smirked then we all broke into laughter.

We talked about our interests for the rest of the period and it turns out we had a lot in common. Lunch ended way sooner than I was hoping for and I was so happy upon making all these new friends that the rest of the day went by like a breeze. Before I knew it, I had walked home and was getting all my stuff ready for tomorrow, being the most excited for school than I've ever been in my life.
