Are you having trouble describing a sound? See if the following lines inspire you...

"He rang a large resounding chime." (Resounding = making an echoing sound.)

"Her voice resonated in the room as if she were giving a benediction." (Resonated = produce or be filled with a full, deep, reverberating sound.)

The bang reverberated and the metal rang hollowly.

I had to yell to be heard above the cacophony of the crowd. (Cacophony = a harsh, discordant mixture of sounds.)

Even with my earplugs in the screeching cut though my ears and made my teeth ache.

As we walked thought the house we could hear the usual hum of voices, conversations rising and falling like ocean tides.

The air was filled with the babble of angry voices.

His voice was a mere thread of sound, just above a whisper.

"____" she asked whisper-soft.

The sound of rending metal shrieked in my eardrums.
