Many young, aspiring authors with a head full of ideas and a heart full of ambition come to me and seek help on how to write, and how to write well. Well, I am honored you have come to ask me! So, come one and come all, here is a helpful little book that I've created for all those writers seeking some advice and tips from me! Hopefully this guide will help you be well on your way to becoming someone who is proud of their work and attracts readers far and wide on Wattpad. This book will contain the following: humble opinions (from me, author-san), tips, advice, lessons, inspiring quotes in the pcitures, helpful charts, and probably a small rant or two. Tips/advice may include: finding inspiration, avoiding cliches, encouragement, choosing genre, etc. Lessons may include: diction, syntax, dialogue, character arcs, perspective/point-of-view, grammar, style choice, tight writing, characterization, plot, setting, and so on. Posts will vary in size and not on a schedule, but I will post as often as I see fit! See you inside! Signed, BBH (blindedbyheadlights) All rights go to any of the picture owners.

DISCLAIMER: These review/critique things are based on first impressions. I will NOT be reading the entirety of your book. My purpose is to urge my clients to learn something new about their story. (Though opinions may vary across participants.) Maybe your review from me will be the catalyst that makes you quit writing for a period of time. Maybe my review is the confidence boost you need in order to take that next step. Maybe my review will help you see your errors and better yourself. Maybe it will do nothing to help you at all and you'll just think of me as a turd after. My goal is not to tell you how to think; I am just a milk dud trying to do something semi-productive as I procrastinate away. Also, in no way am I implying that I am a superior writer to any of my clients, I'm just bored & have attained a decent critical eye on picking out "the bad", I think. We all have written garbage before (you might be writing one right now and have yet to realize it! Who knows-- let me help you find out!), this is just a process that has been done a googolplex amount of times throughout the centuries and the multiverse. This is not unique to only you. It is just a cycle, and you are part of it, which is why I am here to shove you along in one tiny portion of it. If you think that I'm a "rude bitch", all of this seems too intimidating, or maybe even melodramatic--I get it. To a certain extent, I even agree with you! You know yourself better than I do. Remember: no one is forcing you to request and I'll have less reviews to get to. 🤷🏾♂️ {P.S. Super depressed and poor so I'm prone to take breaks. Oops. Edit: On an indefinite hiatus if that isn't obvious. All posted reviews have pretty helpful info in them I like to think tho!} Okay, I'll quit the foreplay and get on with it. I hope you enjoy my services whether you request or not! (Cover done by yours truly)

Most writing advice is not designed to help you build a stable career. It's designed to keep editors and writing coaches employed. There's a lot of bad writing advice on the internet. I've heard and believed most of it. Professional writers don't need to waste time on useless minutiae. I have a better plan: Read this book. Put the lessons into action. Build an audience. If you want to spend 600 hours deciding whether to use a semicolon or a dash, this book is not for you. But if you want a no-luck-required guide to building an audience and producing a body of work that will pay you until you die, this book is for you.

Learn how to write flash fiction. It's not as hard as you think! This guide presents a simple set of exercises that will demonstrate just how easy writing a short story can be. If you do the exercises, you'll have a piece of flash fiction when you finish. Total lesson time: 30 minutes to an hour Mary Robinette Kowal was a guest speaker on Brandon Sanderson's YouTube writers series. This tutorial extracts her instructions and information to act as a tutorial for learning to write flash fiction, or really, a story of any length. If you work through this tutorial and play along, I encourage you to visit the video on YouTube and catch all her details. It's a wonderful explainer and exercise bundled all into one. How to edit your own words - with a chainsaw. There is a massive amount of "how to" and "how not to" instruction available regarding writing. I have read a lot of it, understood some of it, and applied a small amount of it to my own work. I wanted to record my interpretation and recommendation of the best of this information, and Wattpad seemed like as good a place as any to do that. If it helps one other person, I reckon I've done something useful. If you find any of this interesting, helpful, offensive, or excessively opinionated, please use the comments to let me know.
