The Sight

A/N: Thank you for all of my voters and readers and commenters. It has really helped to motivate me to keep on going.  I have been adding art work to previous chapters. Ch1 has a drawing of the Venatio Noctem symbol and the prologue has a drawing off all 7 elemental symbols for anyone who is interested.  I have also been questing for songs that that these chapters so if anyone has suggestions let me know and I will love you forever ;) You guys are the bestest!

I have been working on the prologue for book two of this series which will be titled The Leap (book three will be The Shift, book four: The Bending, book five: The Seeking).  The opening of book two unveils a lot of secrets about Kiylee and Kirra's origins while they continue to try to defend the Kingdom's Realms. When the Sight is in its last few chapters I will post the intro and prologue to the Leap on wattpad, but for now I will enjoy teasing everyone about it and maybe I might give hints and glimpses if people keep on voting and commenting ;)

Chapter 11: Collide part 4

Kiylee's POV

With each blunt swing my attacker steadily pushed me further and further down the alleyway and further away from my team. I was aware of being isolated from the rest of the group but the distance between buildings was so narrow and the man before me was attacking with such ferocity that I didn't stand a chance of switching over to his other side.

But I still had to try. My assailant swung hard at me and I twisted my blade so his blade slid down mine and the force of his body moving forward put little to no space between us.  Before he could regroup to swing again I quickly side stepped and tried to roll under his extended arm. But as I was in mid roll something powerful smashed into my side with a sickening crack and forced me against the wall.

The wind was knocked out of me and when I tried to force a breath into my lungs the pain stopped me from fully inhailing.  The magnitude of the throbbing told me at least one of my ribs was broken. The fact that my whole left side was on fire made me question if multiple ribs were cracked.

Looking up at the cloaked man I realized he must have kicked me when I tried to slip past him.

Kirra's POV

It was happening again. The dull pain in the back of my head, the tingles that danced through my limbs, the pull on my mind, and the flashes in and out from what was really happening to what was about to happen.  I only got the images when someone was about to die, but it was always happened that way.

The barrel chested muscled man who had been attacking Kiylee with a sword had managed to kick her against a wall, she looked crumpled and pained.  He raised his blunt sword and swung for her head, but Kiylee managed to move fast enough to only have her shoulder badly sliced into.  Her attacker raised his sword again and she stumbled to her feet, obviously in agony from her injuries, and tried to defend herself with using her uninjured arm.  But it was futile, he ripped the sword from her hand and slashed her side deeply, cutting into vital organs.

The world came back to present time around me. Down the alleyway I saw Kiylee being slammed into the brick wall. A heat came over me and my body started moving on its own. The staff formed into my hand with a flash of purple light as I careened myself towards the fighting.

"MOVE, HE IS GOING TO KILL HER!" I Shouted.

One of the black wolves stopped fighting in mid bite and whipped his body around, bolting towards Kiylee who had just had her shoulder sliced into.

The other black wolf lunged for the hind quarters of the one leaving the fight.  But I was close enough at this point that I was able to swing my staff and with a zapping thud it hit him on his side and that wolf was sent into the brick wall with a thud and a flash of light. Several bricks cracked and broke off from the wall where he hit.

The stunt of mine left me drained. My legs felt weak, like I had been running for hours, and all I wanted was a sandwich and a pillow. You're body has not been trained to yield magic.  You are drained from the Meraki you have used today. Noxa spoke in my head.

Meanwhile echoes of the black and white masked man's laughter bounced off the closely knit buildings and I felt a hand grab my arm. I was spun around to face the laughing lunatic and the acidic smell of his body made me almost gag.

Black and White snapped his fingers and Zeeza, Joey, him, and myself were surrounded by these strange shadowing looking creatures that reminded me of some kind of mutant blood thirsty bunny that was brought back from the head in a cheap old school horror movie.

This was really not turning out to be my day...

Kiylees POV

My attacker came at me again and I raised my katana with my good arm, my left arm would normally be used as a support for the blade but the wound just inflicted on me had probably torn my rotator cuff.  His brute strength forced my katana from my hands and as he was about to swing for my open frame a flash of black ripped into his assaulting arm.  The blade swung wildly and I managed to dodge most of its unplanned swings except for a decent gash on my cheek.

The pain inflicted on my body was nothing compared to the burning disappointment that I was unable to defend myself from this guy and Jaysen had to save me.

With a smoldering distain in my stomach I pulled one of my kuni from its holsters on my leg and sent it flying at the masked man's head. His mask shattered into pieces revealing a half decomposed face with distant glazed over eyes that didn't even register my attack.  He just fell to his knees and then forward in a crumpled heap.

Cloud's wolf form stopped running and he froze in place.  Standing still, with his head down and a blank look in his eyes.  The bubble that was holding the she-wolf burst and she flopped to the ground gasping for air.

Jaysen morphed back into his human self.  "About time, he smelled awful in my wolf state and tasted a hundred times worse."

I narrowed my eyes at him.  "Well no one asked you to intervene.  I had it under control without you."

"Because bleeding out with 10 broken bones is under con-" Jaysen started.

But the cement beneath our feet started to vibrate and ripple.  I turned to face the epicenter of the quaking and saw a pair of black wings wrapped around a humanoid being as they burst into a light that engulfed everything.

When the light dissipated we were no longer in L.A.

Instead we were in an open grassy field covered by an amber sky with three large moons in view.

I sighed in irritation and let the sarcasm pool out from my pores.  "Because this open space wouldn't have been useful about 3 and a half minutes ago."

The black winged man sent a stream of purple light towards the black and white masked man and encased him in a cube of magic while pulling out Kirra from his grasp.

Kirra stumbled away and looked like she was going to pass out from exhaustion.  She glaced at the sky with the best example of a what the fuck expression and did pass out.  Joey caught her with a baffled look on his face and held Kirra's top half, while her head lulled to the size and her knees touched the ground.

Zeeza stepped beside Joey and slapped him across his head, her lips moved at him but I could not hear was she spoke but soon Joey lifted Kirra into his arms bridle style.
