Prologue

Seven years ago.

Satoru: nine

Satomi: twelve.

"Satomi, watch me!" Satoru yells.

"I'm watching!" Satomi yells back. Satoru throws the ball in the air and tries to catch it but it rolls out into the road. He runs out to get it and doesn't see the car speeding towards him.

"Satoru, watch out!" Satomi yells but it's too late.

Satoru's not moving. Satomi runs over to him screaming for her mother. The neighbors have come out of their houses.

Mrs. Eldon, their next-door neighbor screams seeing Satoru in the middle of the road covered in blood. His head is bleeding. Satomi is crying.

"Satoru! It's all my fault!" Satomi yells. Her mom tries to calm her down.

Satoru is currently in surgery. Satomi keeps blaming herself.

"Honey. Satoru's a strong boy. He'll be okay." Satomi's mother says.

"How do you know?! How do you know?! What if he dies?!" Satomi asks in hysterics. Satomi loved her brother more than anything.

"Your son is okay. He survived. But the bad news is... He's in a coma. That he might not come out of." The doctor says. Satomi breaks down for the third time that day.

"No! No! He'll wake up! He has to! He has to!" She yells.

Poor Satomi.

Five years ago.

"What if he never wakes up, Mom?" Satomi asks.

"He'll wake up. I know he will." His mom says.

Satomi was starting to lose hope.

Two years ago.

"I'll come back and visit you. Okay, Satoru?" No answer.

"I promise."

Present time.

The phone rings in Satomi's dorm.

"Satomi, it's for you!" Her roommate, Naia yells.

"Coming!" Satomi yells running down the stairs.

She takes the phone from her roommate and listens to it.

"What? Really?! Oh my god. I'll get a plane down there right now!" She says into the phone.

She runs outside and gets into a car, starting it up.

"Where are you going?!" Naia yells after her.

"To go see my brother!" Satomi yells back and starts driving.
