Chapter 19:After The Party Juice

The funeral bolted by quicker than expected. No one in my family uttered a word unless it was time for them to make their farewell speech. It was an open gathering and tons of strangers and fans showed up. It was nothing special or personal.

I was forced to sit in the front of the massive church with my dad and Hunter. I didn't shed any tears. It wasn't the time. I just squeezed Hunter's hand the whole service because he looked like he would break at any moment.

We all dressed formally in black dresses and tuxedos and my hair was slabbed up in a neat bun. The whole funeral shabang. It ended just as fast as it started.

The rest of the day flew by even faster. It was eerily quiet in the house, but it gave me time to think about everything. Time to just take it in and digest what had happened the past days.

I kept replaying the kiss with Caleb over and over in my mind like a broken record. I could still feel his soft lips on mine. His distinctive body heat and stance still lingered on my fingertips. I had never layed hands on him like that before. I felt regretful and dirty.

Caleb probaly hated me. He had to. I played him. I led him on. He looked so happy that night and his actions leaned towards more than just bestfriends. He showed all the signs of being attracted to me, and I played him.

I frantically picked up my cell and dialed his number countless times.

No answer.

I shot him a few texts.

No reply.

The guilt was eating me alive and my guts were churning.

Night time fell fast and I flopped on my bed in distress. My wandering mind left me restless. I eventually dozed off, despite my raging thoughts, and got just enough sleep to last the next day.

My alarm rung in my ears and I groaned. It was Monday. Back to school again.

I tied my sandy hair into neat high ponytail and slipped on skinny jeans and a baby blue hoodie. The weather wasn't as nice as before. The summer heat was dying down.

Hunter drove me to school and I hustled to my normal meeting place to find Caleb. I spotted him with two girls and he caught a glimpse of me. I waved like a maniac trying to flag him over, but I was completely ignored.

I stood there like an total idiot.

He wasn't going to talk to me. I felt it.

The look in his eye, he appeared broken and I knew that wasn't the way Caleb acted. I dashed over to his side, but he cut me off with his back intentionally.

"Caleb..."I whispered trying not get worked up

"Maybe we could go for some coffee"he continued his conversation with the two chicks

"Caleb, I know you hear me"my heart raced trying to pick the right words to say

I wanted to reach out and just give him a tight hug. I wanted him to forgive me. I wanted my bestfriend back.
