Peter had just gotten the phone call from Tony Stark, telling him that you had been injured in a mission that you were on. At first, it was his own mission, but because he decided to ask Liz, he somehow persuaded you to take it out of his hands.
He was blaming himself as he ran down the hallways of Midtown High, getting closer to the place where he stored his suit.
Peter almost had tears coming out of his eyes, just thinking about how much pain you were in. He knew how dangerous and serious that mission was, and yet he let you take it even though he shoudn't have.
He was blaming it entirely on himself, and all he wanted to do was make sure you were okay. As he made his way past the locked classrooms, he had realized that his feeling were for you, nobody else.
